Gemini can pull information from Google apps and, where supported, take actions such as creating Calendar events or editing Keep notes. Those capabilities can reduce app switching for repeat tasks, but Google’s documentation does not establish that they save a specific amount of time—and they do not support a first-person claim that these integrations genuinely sped up an author’s workflow. Here are three documented workflows to try, with the access and action limits that matter.
First, know which Gemini connection you’re using
“Gemini integration” can mean different things: a connected app in the Gemini app, Gemini features within Google Workspace, or an integration listed in the Workspace Marketplace. They are not interchangeable, and their availability and permissions can differ. Google’s [connected-apps guide](https://support.google.com/gemini/answer/14959807?co=GENIE.Platform%3DDesktop&hl=en) explains connections in the Gemini app; its [Workspace integration guidance](https://support.google.com/mail/answer/16796422?hl=en) covers eligible Workspace experiences.
Google also describes connecting some tools from Workspace apps and invoking connected apps through settings, an @ mention, or a direct request. These access options do not guarantee that a particular integration is available on every account. Check the current [Workspace feature and access guidance](https://knowledge.workspace.google.com/admin/generative-ai/workspace-with-gemini/turn-access-to-google-workspace-with-gemini-beta-on-or-off?rd=1&visit_id=639168410217288751-371964287), [September 15, 2026 Workspace update](https://workspaceupdates.googleblog.com/2026/09/connect-to-more-tools-with-gemini-in-Google-Workspace.html), and [September 23, 2026 connected-app announcement](https://blog.google/innovation-and-ai/products/gemini-app/new-connected-apps-gemini/) for the product context you plan to use.
Three workflows worth considering
| Workflow | Repeated task | Services and data involved | What Gemini may do | Access considerations |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Gmail and Drive lookup | Find a detail buried in email or pull together information in documents. | Gmail messages and Drive documents relevant to the request. | Retrieve information from Gmail or summarize Drive documents; this is primarily information retrieval. | Requires an eligible account and supported integration. Check Google’s [Workspace integrations help](https://support.google.com/mail/answer/16796422?hl=en) and [connected-apps help](https://support.google.com/gemini/answer/14959807?co=GENIE.Platform%3DDesktop&hl=en). |
| Calendar, Tasks, and Keep planning | Turn a planning request into an event, task, or reference note. | Calendar events, Google Tasks items, and Keep notes or lists you authorize. | Find or create events, add or show tasks, and create, find, or edit Keep notes or lists, subject to the connected apps available. | Availability varies. Google notes that creating a Calendar event does not automatically create a reminder if Tasks is not enabled. See the [connected-apps help](https://support.google.com/gemini/answer/14959807?co=GENIE.Platform%3DDesktop&hl=en). |
| GitHub repository help | Get oriented in a codebase or investigate a debugging question. | A GitHub repository attached to Gemini and the code available through that connection. | Use repository context to help explain code or debug; confirm findings in your normal development tools. | Google documents repository attachment in its [connected-apps guide](https://support.google.com/gemini/answer/14959807?co=GENIE.Platform%3DDesktop&hl=en). A GitHub app connection, a Workspace integration, and a Marketplace listing refer to distinct product contexts and may have different access conditions. |
1. Find an email detail or summarize Drive material
Use this when a recurring task starts with a question such as “What date did the client confirm?” or “What are the main decisions in these project documents?” Google documents finding information from Gmail and summarizing documents from Drive through Gemini integrations. Rather than opening several apps to locate the relevant source, ask for the detail or summary in the Gemini experience that has access to those services.

#1 Best Overall
- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. - Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Be specific about what you need, such as the sender, project, time period, or document subject. Treat the response as a shortcut to the source, not a substitute for checking it: confirm important dates, commitments, and figures against the underlying email or file. This workflow retrieves and synthesizes information; the cited documentation does not establish a time-saving amount or promise that every account can access the same material. Check [Google’s Workspace integration requirements](https://support.google.com/mail/answer/16796422?hl=en).
2. Coordinate a plan across Calendar, Tasks, and Keep
A single planning request can involve an event, a follow-up reminder, and notes for the meeting. Where the relevant connected apps are available, Gemini can help find or create Calendar events, add or show Tasks, and create, find, or edit Keep notes and lists. For example, ask for an event for a specified time, a follow-up task, and a Keep note containing the agenda. Review each result in its app rather than assuming one action creates the others.

The distinction matters: Google specifically cautions that a Calendar event will not automatically produce a reminder if Tasks is not enabled. Connected-app availability also varies by account and context. Consult the [connected-apps guide](https://support.google.com/gemini/answer/14959807?co=GENIE.Platform%3DDesktop&hl=en) before relying on a cross-app routine.
3. Attach a GitHub repository for codebase questions
For development work, Google documents attaching a GitHub repository to Gemini to help understand a codebase and debug issues. This is most useful for an orientation or investigation question that benefits from repository context—for example, asking where a feature is implemented or which code paths may relate to a reported bug.

Use the result as assistance, not verification: inspect the relevant files and test any proposed change in your usual development environment. Also confirm which Gemini surface and connection you are using. Google’s connected-app instructions describe GitHub repository attachment, while its Workspace materials cover Workspace-specific integrations and the [Workspace Marketplace](https://workspace.google.com/marketplace/category/integrations) lists separate integrations. A listing or a feature in one context does not prove that the same capability is enabled in another.
Check eligibility and permissions before building a routine
Access depends on the product and account, not just on whether an app name appears in a menu. Google lists qualifying personal Google AI plans or supported work and school Workspace editions for Workspace integrations; some third-party connections may also require a separate subscription. For work or school accounts using connected apps, Google says a qualifying Workspace edition and enabled Keep Activity are required, with the administrator controlling that setting. Availability can vary by account type, edition, location, language, device, and Gemini app. See the current [Workspace integration requirements](https://support.google.com/mail/answer/16796422?hl=en) and [connected-app eligibility details](https://support.google.com/gemini/answer/14959807?co=GENIE.Platform%3DDesktop&hl=en).

For organization-managed accounts, administrators may control access, and some Workspace capabilities are edition-specific or beta features. Google’s [administrator guidance](https://knowledge.workspace.google.com/admin/generative-ai/workspace-with-gemini/turn-access-to-google-workspace-with-gemini-beta-on-or-off?rd=1&visit_id=639168410217288751-371964287) includes feature and edition details that can change. Verify current eligibility with your administrator before making an integration essential to a team process.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Choose integrations by task, action, and access burden
A practical test is whether a connection removes a repeated lookup or handoff without adding more permission and review work than it saves. Start with one recurring task, connect only the services it needs, and check whether Gemini is retrieving information or changing records. For actions such as creating an event or editing a note, inspect the result in the destination app. For sensitive or consequential information, verify against the original source before acting.

Google documents what these connections can do, but the cited materials do not quantify individual productivity gains. Whether a workflow is genuinely faster depends on your task, the account features available to you, and how much review the result requires.
