For Nova Launcher, a “theme” usually means an Android icon pack paired with a wallpaper—not a built-in, one-tap Nova theme. The 22 options below were featured by Fossbytes in 2024; their icon counts, wallpaper details, prices, and availability are historical descriptions, not verified current specifications. Choose by visual style and legibility, then check the current Google Play listing for availability and compatibility with your launcher and Android version.
What “Nova Launcher themes” means
Nova is an Android home-screen replacement with customizable desktop, app drawer, dock, and folders. Its official product page lists icon themes and backup/restore among its features; Nova Prime adds features such as gestures and notification badges. An icon pack changes the appearance of supported app icons. A coordinated wallpaper may be included, but it is a separate part of the look rather than a built-in Nova theme.
The packs below were listed in a Fossbytes article published September 17, 2024. The descriptions and counts are attributed to that article and should not be read as current app-store data. A pack’s present availability, price, update status, and compatibility have not been established here. Check its current listing before installing, especially for older or discontinued apps. How to choose a pack that will work for you
- Start with the look: Pick a style that suits your wallpaper and home-screen layout—such as colorful Material-inspired icons, subdued pastels, dark outlines, retro pixel art, or minimal white shapes.
- Check icon coverage: A large reported library does not guarantee that every app you use has a custom icon. Look for alternate icons and current listing details, and expect some unsupported apps to retain their original appearance.
- Consider wallpaper contrast: White or hollow icons can disappear on light or visually busy backgrounds. Dark styles may be less distinct on dark wallpapers. Check whether a pack includes coordinating wallpapers, and choose a background that keeps icons readable.
- Verify compatibility and availability: Before installing, check the current store listing for your Android version, Nova support, recent update information, and any price. The 2024 article’s numbers and prices do not establish those details today.
How to apply an icon pack in Nova
Nova’s official site confirms that icon themes are supported, but the exact settings path can vary with app versions. After installing a pack, open Nova’s current settings and look for the icon appearance or icon theme option; select the installed pack and apply it. If it does not appear, confirm that installation completed and check the pack listing for launcher compatibility. Do not assume an old menu path applies to every current version.

Nova’s current ownership and support context
On January 20, 2026, Nova said Instabridge had acquired the launcher and described its immediate focus as stable operation, compatibility with modern Android, and active maintenance. That is the owner’s stated plan, not a guarantee of future support. The update also said the company was exploring paid tiers and ad-based options for the free version, and that Prime would remain ad-free if ads were introduced. Nova’s current FAQ says the free version includes ads and Prime is ad-free; check the official FAQ and current app listing for the latest policy.
This follows a September 6, 2025 statement from founder and original developer Kevin Barry that he had left Branch and was no longer involved with Nova Launcher. These dated statements explain why checking current maintenance and compatibility matters when choosing a launcher or an older icon pack.
