There is no defensible, publicly established global ranking of the “top 10” IT outsourcing providers. The ten companies below are a practical shortlist of large providers recognized in current assessments of data-center outsourcing or managed services—not a ranking of quality or performance. They are Accenture, Capgemini, Cognizant, DXC Technology, HCLTech, Infosys, NTT DATA, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), Wipro, and Kyndryl. The list emphasizes large-scale infrastructure and managed services; it is not exhaustive of regional firms or specialist providers.
10 IT outsourcing providers to consider
All ten companies appear in Gartner’s Magic Quadrant for Data Center Outsourcing Services, published September 30, 2026. ISG’s broad managed-services presentation also includes most of them. These sources establish that the providers are relevant candidates in those categories; they do not establish a shared score or order among the ten.
- Accenture — Included in Gartner’s data-center outsourcing provider set and ISG’s global Big 15 managed-services examples.
- Capgemini — Included in Gartner’s data-center outsourcing provider set and ISG’s managed-services examples.

- DXC Technology — Included in Gartner’s data-center outsourcing provider set and ISG’s managed-services examples.
- HCLTech — Included in Gartner’s data-center outsourcing provider set and ISG’s managed-services examples.
- Infosys — Included in Gartner’s data-center outsourcing provider set and ISG’s managed-services examples.
- NTT DATA — Included in Gartner’s data-center outsourcing provider set and ISG’s managed-services examples.

- Kyndryl — Included in Gartner’s data-center outsourcing provider set; it is also named in ISG’s 2026 insurance ITO Leaders.
These brief descriptions reflect category inclusion only. The public summaries do not provide enough comparable detail to score these companies against one another, and no independent provider testing or customer outcome comparison is established here.
What the rankings and assessments actually tell you
Different analyst reports assess different services, industries, and methods. Their labels should not be treated as a universal ranking of IT outsourcing firms.

- Data-center outsourcing: Gartner’s September 30, 2026 assessment covers providers that help organizations operate and modernize complex infrastructure. Its public page lists 17 providers, including the ten above, but does not reveal a ranked order or detailed evaluations. See Gartner’s report page.
- Insurance IT outsourcing: ISG’s 2026 global Insurance Services—ITO assessment evaluates 45 providers. It names Accenture, Atos, Capgemini, Coforge, Cognizant, DXC Technology, HCLTech, Hexaware, IBM, Infosys, Kyndryl, LTM, Mphasis, NTT DATA, TCS, Tech Mahindra, ValueMomentum, and Wipro as Leaders; Persistent Systems and Synechron are Rising Stars. Those labels apply to insurance ITO, not the whole outsourcing market. Read ISG’s announcement.
- Managed services: ISG’s 4Q25 Global Service & Software Provider Standouts presentation organizes providers by company-revenue bands and says names are alphabetical, with no ranking implied. Its global Big 15 examples include Accenture, Capgemini, Cognizant, Deloitte, DXC Technology, HCLTech, IBM Consulting, Infosys, NTT DATA, TCS, and Wipro. Placement reflects annual value of commercial contracts awarded in the prior 12 months, not a quality score. View ISG’s presentation.
- Custom software development: If the need is building digital products rather than operating infrastructure, Gartner’s separate Custom Software Development Services assessment is more relevant. It evaluates full-service and pure-play firms using “Ability to Execute” and “Completeness of Vision”; it should not be conflated with data-center outsourcing. See Gartner’s report page.
How to choose an IT outsourcing provider
Compare candidates against the same requirements and evidence. A brand appearing in an analyst assessment does not establish that it fits your workloads, geography, risk profile, or commercial needs.
1. Define the service boundary
Specify whether the contract covers infrastructure operations, cloud and data-center management, application development or maintenance, service desk, cybersecurity, or an industry process. Document what remains with your internal team, including dependencies and handoffs. Proposals are difficult to compare if providers price different responsibilities.
Rank #2
2. Set delivery and location requirements
Decide what local presence, time-zone coverage, language capability, data residency, and onshore/offshore balance you need. State whether hybrid delivery is acceptable. For regulated or geographically distributed operations, assess local regulatory knowledge alongside global scale; ISG highlights that balance in its insurance ITO coverage.
3. Separate run work from transformation
State whether the provider is expected to maintain current systems, modernize them in phases, or do both. If legacy and cloud-native systems must coexist during transition, require a phased plan that addresses service continuity, dependencies, cutover criteria, and rollback responsibilities.

4. Test resilience, security, and compliance
Map the provider’s obligations to your own regulatory and operational requirements. Ask for service-continuity and recovery plans, incident-response responsibilities, control evidence, governance arrangements, and transition or cutover procedures. For insurance buyers, ISG specifically identifies local compliance, continuity, and governed AI as considerations.
5. Make the commercial model comparable
Use a consistent request for information or proposal to compare service levels, outcome measures, transition costs, change control, pricing assumptions, remedies, and exit assistance. ISG reports growing use of outcome-based commercial models in insurance ITO; that does not mean an outcome-based structure is suitable for every contract.
6. Ask for evidence tied to your context
Request comparable client references, experience with the workloads and regulations in scope, named delivery leadership, subcontractor disclosures, and measurable service performance. Score the evidence against weighted criteria rather than relying on brand familiarity or broad analyst labels. Gartner describes its Magic Quadrant approach in terms of execution and vision, but its public landing page does not expose underlying provider scoring.

- Which services, systems, locations, and responsibilities are included—and explicitly excluded?
- Who owns each transition, approval, incident, dependency, and recovery decision?
- How will the provider meet our service levels, security controls, residency rules, and regulatory obligations?
- What assumptions drive recurring charges, transition fees, change requests, and service-level remedies?
- Which named personnel and subcontractors will deliver the work, and how will substitutions be governed?
- How will performance be reported, and what evidence supports claims about comparable engagements?
- What are the exit, knowledge-transfer, data-return, and continuity arrangements if the contract ends?
ISG’s insurance assessment evaluated 45 providers in 2026, but that count is specific to insurance ITO. The available public assessments do not establish a comparable market-wide top-ten score, market-share ranking, or savings figure for IT outsourcing overall.
