For 007 First Light on PC, start by checking the official hardware requirements and updating the game, Windows, and your graphics driver. Then match the fix to the symptom: lower demanding settings for persistently low FPS, check SSD space and the DirectX Shader Cache for loading hitches, and repair game files and disable overlays for crashes. These are IO Interactive Player Support recommendations, not guaranteed fixes; the cause can differ from one PC to another.
Check that your PC meets the requirements
IO Interactive Player Support’s requirements article, updated September 15, 2026, lists the following PC specifications. The article advises players to check the Steam or Epic Games Store pages for final requirements.

Meeting the minimum tier does not guarantee a particular frame rate: the requirements table does not state an FPS target. IOI says players near minimum should begin at 1080p with the Low preset, since higher resolutions and presets can be demanding.
Fix consistently low FPS
If the frame rate stays low rather than dropping only during loading or at one specific moment, follow IOI’s published PC troubleshooting sequence:

- Restart the PC.
- Install available Windows updates, then restart.
- Update the graphics driver from NVIDIA, AMD, or Intel, then restart.
- Use your game platform’s verify or repair option to check the installed game files.
- Disable overlays and recording tools, including Steam, Discord, Xbox Game Bar, and GPU software overlays.
- If performance is still low, reduce resolution first. Then lower shadows, reflections, volumetrics, and view distance.
- Close demanding background applications. If you are using a laptop, connect it to power and set Windows power mode to Best performance.
These steps come from IOI’s support guide; they are troubleshooting suggestions, not independently tested fixes. Change one setting at a time where practical so you can tell which adjustment affects performance.
Address stutter while loading or entering areas
For hitching during loading, streaming, or area transitions, IOI recommends checking storage and the shader cache:
- Confirm the game is installed on an SSD. An SSD is part of the official minimum requirements.
- Check that the installation drive has free space.
- Open Windows Disk Cleanup, select DirectX Shader Cache, clear it, and restart the PC.
An SSD is required, but that does not mean every stutter is caused by storage. Note whether the hitch happens during loading, while entering a particular area, or during ordinary camera movement; that distinction is useful if you need to contact support.

Reduce delayed or floaty input
If the main problem is delayed input rather than a low average frame rate, try V-Sync or cap FPS slightly below your monitor’s refresh rate. IOI also suggests disabling overlays and recording tools, which can add latency. This advice is specific to input delay; it is not a blanket instruction to turn V-Sync off.
Investigate texture pop-in or heavy hitching
IOI says heavy hitching together with texture pop-in can point to a VRAM limit, but treats it as a clue rather than a diagnosis. Try reducing resolution and texture-heavy settings, then see whether the symptoms change. The cited support guidance does not recommend buying more system RAM as a fix.
Check performance that worsens during a session
If FPS drops after 10–30 minutes, IOI recommends checking temperatures and possible throttling. Heat can reduce performance; inspect cooling and airflow as well as temperatures. For a stability test, return GPU overclocks and RAM XMP/EXPO settings to stock. If crashes occur after longer sessions, IOI likewise recommends testing at stock clocks and checking cooling.

Fix startup problems, freezes, and crashes
For a launch failure or startup black screen
Begin with a restart, Windows and graphics-driver updates, game-file verification or repair, and disabling overlays. If the game still will not launch, IOI lists these later troubleshooting options:
- Check permissions and security software that might interfere with the game.
- Remove custom launch options and check for conflicts with injectors.
- Use a clean boot to identify conflicting startup software.
- Reinstall the game if earlier steps do not resolve the issue.
IOI’s version 1.1.1 notes reported a fix for a black screen followed by a client crash on some PCs, as well as a rare crash after entering Advanced Training in Malta and pausing. If your symptom matches one of those cases, check that the game is updated before trying more disruptive changes.

For a crash or freeze during play
IOI’s first steps are to repair game files, update the graphics driver, disable overlays, and remove overclocks for testing. If the crash occurs during gameplay, also lower demanding graphics settings and check temperatures. Further published troubleshooting options include setting Windows virtual memory to system-managed, checking Windows Event Viewer for an error, and performing a clean graphics-driver reinstall. IOI advises updating the BIOS only if you are comfortable following your motherboard manufacturer’s instructions.

Use current settings advice for Path Tracing
Path Tracing has had performance-related changes since its release, so settings advice should be read against the game version it applies to. IOI’s version 1.2.1 hotfix, dated September 17, 2026, acknowledged reports of performance problems after the Path Tracing release and said it was working with NVIDIA to investigate. That update also listed several Path Tracing crash fixes and added AMD FSR upscaling: FSR 4.1 is selected on supported Radeon RX 7000/9000 cards (RDNA 3/4), while other cards fall back to FSR 3.1.
For version 1.2.2, dated September 25, 2026, IOI’s suggested starting point is to update the game and graphics driver, then choose Options → Graphics → Restore to defaults. Its Path Tracing settings recommendations are specific to the named RTX cards and this workload:

IOI describes Path Tracing High as more demanding because it increases shading and reflection detail and ray bounces. It recommends Medium for a more balanced experience unless you are using an RTX 5090. Depending on your display and preference, its guidance also says to consider V-Sync Off.

IOI’s September 25, 2026 version 1.2.2 guidance gives expected—not independently measured here—performance of around 60 FPS on an RTX 5070 at 1080p and around 60 FPS on an RTX 5080 at 1440p, depending on mission and checkpoint. IOI says 2X DLSS Frame Generation with Super Resolution Auto should deliver consistently above 60 FPS across the game, and that an RTX 5090 can reach 200+ FPS with 6X DLSS Frame Generation. These vendor-published expectations are tied to the cited cards, settings, and workload; they are not guarantees for other hardware or configurations.
Version 1.2.2 also lists specific fixes: improved Path Tracing performance in the opening drive, hotel, and car chase; a fix for specific 5–10 FPS drops in two RTX 5070 scenes; and a fix for heavy stuttering when starting online Escalations with Path Tracing enabled. These changes address the named situations and do not establish that unrelated stutter, low FPS, or crashes have been resolved.
Contact IOI Player Support with useful details
If the steps above do not resolve the issue, provide enough detail for support to distinguish a performance problem from a launch or stability failure. IOI’s troubleshooting guidance asks players to include:
- Your storefront and region or country.
- The local date and time of the problem, including timezone, and the exact error code or message.
- Where the failure occurs and the troubleshooting steps you have already tried.
- Your CPU, GPU, RAM, Windows version, and a DxDiag report.
- For a performance complaint: resolution and graphics preset, where the stutter happens, whether the game is installed on an SSD, and the available space on that drive.
IO Interactive Player Support is the source for the PC troubleshooting steps and requirements described here. The support guidance does not establish one universal cause for crashes or stutter, so include the specific symptom and circumstances rather than assuming a particular component is at fault.
