Oxylabs Web Scraper API and ScrapingBee are the closest documented alternatives to Zyte API. Oxylabs is worth testing when you need ready-made sources and structured output; ScrapingBee fits JavaScript-heavy pages, browser actions and managed extraction. Apify is an adjacent choice for configurable, ready-to-run workflows, while ScraperAPI belongs on a shortlist only after you verify its current documentation. No independent, like-for-like benchmark establishes a universal winner, so the right choice depends on your domains, fields, rendering needs and full billable cost.
This guide shows how to compare them against your own URLs, explains where each product fits, and separates Zyte’s published pricing views so they are not mistaken for a single market rate.
What to compare before replacing Zyte API
A scraper that works on a static page can fail on a JavaScript application, a geo-restricted site or a page protected by an access challenge. Define the workload before comparing vendors.
Output and extraction
Record whether your application needs raw HTML, structured JSON, Markdown or selected fields. Some services retrieve a page while others provide vendor-managed parsing. A lower request price is not useful if you still have to build and maintain a parser for every page type.

Rendering and interaction
Classify each URL as plain HTTP, browser-rendered or interactive. JavaScript execution, selector waits, clicks and form actions can change both success rate and cost. Test the actual interaction sequence rather than assuming that browser support on a product page covers your case.
Coverage and access handling
List target domains, countries, proxy requirements and known access challenges. Confirm that a provider supports the particular sites and geography you intend to collect; a general promise of proxy rotation is not proof of coverage for your targets.
Reliability and data completeness
Measure successful retrieval, field completeness, latency and retries on a representative sample. Vendor success-rate figures are not comparable unless the targets, date and methodology match.
Total cost
Include browser rendering, retries, failed requests, parsing, concurrency and volume. Compare the cost of acceptable data, not only the advertised base request price.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsIntegration and operations
Check authentication, API shape, SDKs, scheduling, storage and how much infrastructure your team must operate. A configurable platform may save engineering time even when its per-request accounting differs from a narrowly focused API.
Shortlist: the documented Zyte alternatives
| Service | Best fit to investigate | Documented capabilities | What remains to verify |
|---|---|---|---|
| Oxylabs Web Scraper API | Ready-made sources and structured results for popular sites | Catalog of sources covering areas such as e-commerce, travel and real estate; requests can return HTML or structured JSON without building your own scraper | Coverage, success rate and target-specific pricing; no comparable independent benchmark is established |
| ScrapingBee | JavaScript-heavy pages and workflows needing managed browser actions | Headless Chrome, selector waits, custom interaction scenarios, automatic proxy rotation, geographic options, AI or selector-based extraction, plus dedicated Amazon and Walmart APIs | Actual success, completeness and cost on your domains; published performance claims are not independently comparable here |
| Apify | Configurable workflows or a ready-to-run tool from a marketplace | Marketplace of ready-to-run tools, commonly called actors, that can be combined into broader workflows | The exact tool’s maintenance, target coverage, output schema and usage cost |
| ScraperAPI | A candidate for a separate verification pass | Its homepage identifies a web scraping API | Detailed current features, pricing and coverage were not established in the material reviewed |
Treat this as a testing shortlist, not a ranking by speed or value. The evidence does not support declaring one provider universally best.
Oxylabs Web Scraper API
Oxylabs is the most direct alternative when you want a catalog of prepared scraping sources rather than a blank HTTP client. Its product description covers popular websites in e-commerce, travel and real estate and says responses can be HTML or structured JSON. That can reduce parser work when the source and fields you need are already supported.
Questions to ask before adoption
- Is every target domain and page type in the catalog, and how is coverage maintained?
- Which fields are returned as structured JSON, and what happens when a page layout changes?
- Are browser rendering, retries, proxy use and failed attempts charged separately?
- What concurrency and geographic limits apply to your account?
Obtain those answers for your URL set. The available evidence does not establish a cross-provider success-rate advantage or a universal price advantage.

ScrapingBee
ScrapingBee is a strong candidate for pages that need a managed browser. Its documented feature set includes headless Chrome rendering, waits for selectors, custom interaction scenarios, automatic proxy rotation and geographic options. It also describes AI or selector-based extraction and dedicated Amazon and Walmart APIs.
When it belongs in your trial
- The page populates important fields only after JavaScript runs.
- You must wait for a selector, click controls or complete a short interaction sequence.
- You want extraction help instead of returning only the rendered document.
- Your workload is concentrated on Amazon or Walmart and a dedicated API may fit better than a general scraper.
Run identical URLs through the browser and non-browser modes you would actually purchase. ScrapingBee’s own performance statements should be treated as vendor claims, not as an independently verified comparison with Zyte.
Apify
Apify is adjacent rather than a narrow Zyte API equivalent. Its marketplace offers ready-to-run tools, which makes it useful when you want a prebuilt actor or a multi-step workflow instead of one extraction endpoint.
Evaluate the individual tool, not only the platform name
- Check the actor’s recent maintenance history and issue responses.
- Inspect its exact input parameters and output schema.
- Confirm target coverage, rate limits and handling of login or consent flows.
- Calculate usage cost for storage, compute, proxies, retries and scheduled runs.
Two actors on the same marketplace can have very different quality and operating costs, so record the actor identifier in your comparison.

ScraperAPI
ScraperAPI identifies itself as a web scraping API, but the material available for this comparison does not support a detailed feature or price assessment. Include it only as a verification candidate: read the current documentation, request a quote or calculator result for your domains, and run the same acceptance test used for the other services.
How Zyte’s published prices should be read
Zyte distinguishes HTTP-body requests from browser-rendered requests and says pricing depends on the website tier. Its pricing page, accessed on 2026-09-29, lists pay-as-you-go HTTP-body prices of $0.13–$1.27 per 1,000 requests and browser-rendered prices of $1.01–$16.08 per 1,000 requests, each tiered by website. The same page separately displays a headline starting price of $0.06 per 1,000 successful responses.
These are different pricing views, not one blended rate. Use Zyte’s URL-based calculator or current documentation for each target and record whether your estimate is HTTP, browser-rendered or success-based. Recheck the figures before signing a contract because product pricing can change.
A repeatable replacement test
- Inventory the workload. Write down target domains, countries, page types, required fields, expected volume and freshness requirements.
- Label the fetch mode. Mark each URL as plain HTTP, browser-rendered or interactive, and note required waits, clicks or form submissions.
- Build a fixed sample. Include normal pages, empty results, redirects, slow pages, localized pages and known challenge pages. Keep the URLs and expected fields unchanged for every provider.
- Run each provider with equivalent settings. Use the same concurrency, timeout policy and retry limit where the services permit it. Record response status, latency, retries and billable units.
- Score the data. For every required field, mark present, correct, missing or malformed. Separate page retrieval success from field completeness.
- Calculate full cost. Add rendering, retries, failed requests, parsing, proxy or geography charges and the infrastructure your team must maintain.
- Review permissions. Confirm that your collection complies with applicable law, contracts and each website’s terms before production use.
Minimal cURL probe
Because endpoint paths and authentication differ, keep the provider URL and credentials in environment variables rather than hard-coding assumptions:
curl --fail-with-body --max-time 90 -H "Authorization: Bearer $SCRAPER_TOKEN" "$SCRAPER_ENDPOINT"
Set SCRAPER_ENDPOINT to the exact documented request for the provider and target, then save the response and HTTP status for your test log. Do not compare a raw HTML response from one service with parsed JSON from another without normalizing the result.
Python test harness
import os, time, requests
endpoint = os.environ["SCRAPER_ENDPOINT"]
headers = {"Authorization": f"Bearer {os.environ['SCRAPER_TOKEN']}"}
started = time.perf_counter()
response = requests.get(endpoint, headers=headers, timeout=90)
elapsed = time.perf_counter() - started
print({"status": response.status_code, "seconds": round(elapsed, 3), "bytes": len(response.content)})
response.raise_for_status()
open("sample-response.bin", "wb").write(response.content)
Run this against the same sample for each provider, then add a parser-specific check for every field your application requires.
Node.js test harness
const endpoint = process.env.SCRAPER_ENDPOINT;
const token = process.env.SCRAPER_TOKEN;
const started = performance.now();
const response = await fetch(endpoint, { headers: { Authorization: `Bearer ${token}` } });
const body = await response.arrayBuffer();
console.log({ status: response.status, milliseconds: Math.round(performance.now() - started), bytes: body.byteLength });
if (!response.ok) throw new Error(`HTTP ${response.status}`);
Store the status, elapsed time, response size and parsed-field results in a CSV or database so retries and reruns remain auditable.

The page is blank or missing fields
Cause: the target renders data in JavaScript or requires a wait. Fix: switch to a browser-rendered mode, add a selector or network-idle wait, and verify that the resulting fields—not only the HTTP status—are present.
Requests succeed but extraction is incomplete
Cause: the provider retrieved the document but its parser does not model your page variant. Fix: compare raw output with structured output, add custom parsing where supported, or choose a source with the required schema.
Intermittent access failures
Cause: geography, proxy behavior, rate limits or an access challenge. Fix: reproduce the failure with the same country and concurrency, inspect provider response metadata, and ask support to confirm coverage for the exact domain.
The bill is higher than expected
Cause: browser rendering, retries, failed attempts, parsing or concurrency charges were omitted from the estimate. Fix: export usage, separate successful and failed calls, and recalculate cost per complete record.
A marketplace workflow breaks after launch
Cause: an actor’s maintenance or target layout changed. Fix: pin the tested tool version when possible, monitor field completeness, and keep a fallback parser or provider for critical data.
Best Value
When the requirement is a screenshot, not scraped fields
If your application needs a visual capture rather than extracted web data, ScreenshotNeo is the alternative to try first: it removes consent banners, newsletter popups and chat widgets before capture, bills only clean shots, and has the lowest paid plan among the screenshot services described here. It is not a replacement for a structured scraping API, but it can remove the browser automation work when the deliverable is an image or PDF.
Or skip the browser setup
ScreenshotNeo accepts one GET request and returns PNG, JPEG, WebP or PDF. The API can load lazy images, capture a CSS-selected element, use dark mode and device presets, wait for selectors or network idle, click before capture, hide selectors, block resources, set headers, cookies, user agent, timezone or geolocation, and run custom CSS or JavaScript. Failed loads, blank pages, bot checks and cache hits are identified in response headers and are not billed as clean shots.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is Apify a drop-in replacement for Zyte API?
No. Apify is a configurable platform and marketplace; compatibility depends on the specific actor, its schema and its operating model.
Should I compare request prices or successful records?
Compare the cost of complete, correct records after rendering, retries, parsing and failures are included.
How often should a scraper comparison be rerun?
Rerun whenever target layouts, provider pricing, geography requirements or extraction logic changes; those variables can invalidate an earlier result.
Can ScreenshotNeo return structured product fields?
ScreenshotNeo is designed to return screenshots or PDFs. Use a scraping API when your required output is structured web data.
