You can ask Cursor Agent questions about technical documentation by connecting it to a hosted Model Context Protocol (MCP) server. For the MemorySync documentation server, the endpoint is https://docs.memorysync.io/mcp and MemorySync says it requires no authentication. Add it to Cursor’s MCP configuration, restart Cursor, then ask Agent a documentation question. This connects Cursor to an external service; it does not add the documentation to Cursor itself.

What MCP does in Cursor

MCP is a standard bridge that lets Cursor Agent call external tools and data sources. Cursor documents three transports: stdio, Server-Sent Events (SSE), and Streamable HTTP. A documentation server hosted at a URL typically uses a remote HTTP connection; with local stdio, Cursor manages a local process. SSE and Streamable HTTP can be used locally or remotely. See Cursor’s MCP documentation.

Once connected, Agent can use the server’s tools when they are relevant to a prompt. The server determines what information it can return: connecting a documentation MCP does not make it a general-purpose web browser or guarantee access to every page online.

Connect MemorySync’s documentation server

Cursor supports project-level and global MCP configuration. Use the project file when the server should be available for one project, or the global file when you want it available across projects. Cursor’s manual setup guidance is at Configuring MCP Servers.

Elebase USB to USB C Adapter for iPhone 18 Pro Max,USBC Car Charger Adapter
  • Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
  • Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
  • Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
  • Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
  • 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
  1. Choose a configuration file. For a project, create or edit .cursor/mcp.json in the project. For global access, use ~/.cursor/mcp.json in your home directory.
  2. Add a server entry. For example, this remote-server configuration points to MemorySync’s documentation endpoint:
    {
      "mcpServers": {
        "docs": {
          "url": "https://docs.memorysync.io/mcp"
        }
      }
    }
  3. Save the file and restart Cursor. Cursor’s manual configuration guidance calls for restarting after editing the file.
  4. Check that the server is enabled. Open Cursor Settings > Tools & Integrations > MCP (shown in Cursor’s help as Customize > MCPs) and confirm the server is on.
  5. Ask Agent a documentation question. For example: “Look up the documented configuration options for [technology] and explain which setting controls [specific behavior].” Agent uses MCP tools automatically when it judges them relevant.

Cursor merges project and global configuration. If both files define a server with the same name, the project-level entry takes priority. That can explain why a global setting appears to be overridden in one project.

What “zero-signup” means here

MemorySync’s documentation identifies https://docs.memorysync.io/mcp as its documentation MCP endpoint and says it requires no authentication. That claim applies to this documentation endpoint, not every MemorySync service. MemorySync’s separate memory MCP endpoint, https://mcp.memorysync.io/mcp, uses browser OAuth or an API key. The two endpoints have different access requirements; consult MemorySync’s MCP Servers documentation and its Cursor connection guide.

MemorySync lists three tools for the documentation server:

  • search_docs searches its documentation.
  • read_doc reads pages available in its generated index.
  • list_doc_sections lists documentation sections.

The documented read_doc scope is limited to indexed pages, not arbitrary URLs. If a page is outside that corpus, ask Agent to search the indexed documentation or open the page yourself rather than assuming the MCP can fetch any website.

Hosted HTTP or a local server?

Choice How it connects Authentication and corpus Setup and maintenance
Hosted MemorySync docs MCP Remote Streamable HTTP endpoint at https://docs.memorysync.io/mcp (MemorySync documentation). MemorySync says this endpoint needs no authentication. It covers pages in its generated documentation index, not arbitrary URLs. Add the URL in mcp.json; no local server process is needed. Requests connect to an external service.
Local MCP server using stdio Cursor launches and manages a local process over stdio (Cursor documentation). Authentication and documentation coverage depend on the particular server; Cursor’s transport reference does not specify them. Configuration may require a command and environment variables, and you are responsible for the local server’s availability and upkeep.

Cursor also supports SSE, and describes SSE and Streamable HTTP as usable locally or remotely. The table compares the specific hosted MemorySync documentation option with the general local stdio pattern, not every MCP server. A hosted endpoint avoids managing a local process, but means your requests connect to the provider. Review the provider and its data handling before sending sensitive prompts.

Trust and permissions

Cursor cautions: “Remember that MCP servers can access external services and execute code on your behalf. Always understand what a server does before installation.” Its MCP security guidance recommends verifying the server’s source, reviewing permissions, restricting API-key permissions, and auditing code for critical integrations.

The MemorySync docs endpoint described above is unauthenticated, so it does not require you to configure a user API key. That does not remove the need to assess the provider and what data you send. If you configure the separate MemorySync memory server, its OAuth or API-key access is a distinct integration; limit any key to the permissions it needs.
