There is no evidence-backed universal replacement for Zenscrape. The practical choice depends on your request volume, JavaScript requirements, proxy and ban-handling needs, extraction format, geography and whether you need a simple endpoint or a hosted scraping workflow. ScrapingBee and Zyte are the closest managed-API comparisons; Apify is better understood as an Actor marketplace and automation platform; Bright Data targets structured, high-concurrency extraction.

Current first-party Zenscrape plans and capabilities were not available in the material reviewed, and no controlled benchmark compares these services with Zenscrape. Treat the figures below as documented provider or publisher claims, then test representative URLs before migrating.

How to shortlist a Zenscrape alternative

Start by describing the workload, not by choosing a brand. Record the domains, countries, pages per day, peak concurrency, JavaScript behavior, login or form steps, output schema and acceptable failure rate.

1. Estimate effective cost

Count ordinary requests separately from JavaScript-rendered pages, browser actions, retries and high-protection targets. Fixed credit plans are predictable, but a single rendered request may consume more credits than a basic fetch. Usage-based services can match spend to volume, while per-result pricing may be attractive when only successful records matter. Include failed requests and retries in your estimate; billing rules differ.

2. Check rendering and interaction

Confirm whether the provider executes JavaScript, waits for network idle, supports clicks, sessions, logins, screenshots or forms. A raw HTTP response is sufficient for server-rendered HTML, but not for content assembled in a browser.

3. Examine proxy and block handling

Ask which proxy pools, rotation, geographies and CAPTCHA or ban responses are automatic. More capable proxy modes can consume additional credits. Validate the exact countries and domains you need rather than relying on a provider’s country count.

4. Match extraction and output

Compare raw HTML, JSON schemas, custom selectors, AI extraction, NDJSON, CSV and storage or webhook options. Choose the format your downstream pipeline can ingest without another transformation service.

5. Compare throughput and operations

Look for concurrency limits, requests-per-minute limits, queueing, scheduling, batch endpoints, retries and observability. A hosted marketplace may remove substantial engineering work even when its API price is not the lowest.

When each option makes sense

ScrapingBee: predictable fixed credits

ScrapingBee is the clearest fit when you can forecast monthly requests and want a standard API. Its published plans expose both credits and concurrency, which helps capacity planning. Before committing, determine how rendering, proxy choices and target-site difficulty consume credits. The 1,000-credit free allowance is useful for a small proof of concept, not a performance guarantee.

Zyte API: usage-based and technology-aware

Zyte’s migration documentation describes pay-as-you-go billing, a monthly spending limit and prices that vary by request type and target-site tier. It compares extraction, geolocation, sessions, browser actions, body size and rate limiting with ScrapingBee. This model can fit uneven traffic, but you must model the mix of request tiers and set a spending ceiling. The migration page is vendor-authored comparison material, not an independent benchmark.

Apify: hosted Actors instead of a bare endpoint

Apify is a different category. Its Actors package code, storage, scheduling, proxies and integrations, and the marketplace can provide a starting point for a particular site. Choose it when a reusable workflow is more valuable than a single generic fetch API. Review each Actor’s inputs, output schema, run limits and maintenance status; marketplace availability does not prove equal quality across Actors.

Bright Data: structured, batch-oriented extraction

Bright Data positions its Scraper APIs for competitive benchmarking, market trends, dynamic pricing, sentiment extraction and machine-learning pipelines. Documented capabilities include automated IP rotation, CAPTCHA handling, structured parsing, batch handling, high concurrency and NDJSON or CSV output. It is worth evaluating when your pipeline needs records rather than pages, but test schema accuracy and regional coverage on your own domains.

Other candidates for a wider shortlist

An Apify roundup also names ScraperAPI, ZenRows, Oxylabs, ScrapingAnt, Scrapfly and ScrapingFish. It describes ScraperAPI with CAPTCHA handling, JavaScript rendering and proxy management; ZenRows with Fetch, Extract, Batch and Browser Sessions; Oxylabs with a consolidated Web Scraper API and per-successful-result billing; and the remaining services with varying browser, extraction, proxy or speed features. The same roundup gives indicative starting prices of $49/month for ScraperAPI and Oxylabs and $16/month for ZenRows. These are publisher-reported leads evaluated against information available in August 2026, not verified quotations. Confirm current features, limits and prices directly before selecting one.

Where ScreenshotNeo fits

If your requirement is a clean visual capture rather than HTML data extraction, ScreenshotNeo is the alternative to try first. It is a website screenshot API and MCP server, not a general-purpose scraper: one GET request returns PNG, JPEG, WebP or PDF. Before capture it accepts consent banners and removes more than 60 known consent platforms, newsletter popups and chat widgets. Bot checks, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads and cache hits are not billed, and response headers identify the page verdict and billing status.

It supports full-page and CSS-element captures, lazy-image loading, dark mode, 12 device presets or custom viewports, retina scale, PDF paper and page options, custom CSS and JavaScript, clicks, selector or delay waits, network-idle waits, blocking rules, headers, cookies, user agents, authorization, timezone, geolocation, transparent backgrounds, resizing, configurable caching, signed image links, asynchronous webhooks, bulk capture of up to 100 URLs per call, usage reporting and an OpenAPI specification. An MCP server provides take_screenshot, get_page_info and capture_pdf for Claude, Cursor and other MCP clients.

Or skip the browser setup

Use the API documented at ScreenshotNeo’s documentation:

curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -o shot.webp

Cookie banners, popups and chat widgets are removed before the shot; bot checks, blank pages and failed loads are never billed; AI agents can capture through MCP. The Free plan includes 1,000 screenshots per month with no card, and paid plans start at $5 for 3,000. Create a free ScreenshotNeo account.

Migration and validation plan

  1. Create a representative URL set. Include static pages, JavaScript-heavy pages, protected domains, regional variants, pagination and known failure cases. Remove credentials and personal data from test fixtures.
  2. Implement the smallest common request. Fetch the same URLs with equivalent headers, country, rendering and timeout settings. Do not compare a browser request from one vendor with a raw request from another.
  3. Measure useful outcomes. Record HTTP status, extraction completeness, latency distribution, CAPTCHA or block rate, retries, billed units, data freshness and output transformation time.
  4. Run at realistic concurrency. Start below the documented limit, then increase gradually. Observe throttling, queue delays and target-site impact.
  5. Calculate total cost. Multiply each request class by its actual unit price or credit multiplier, add retries and storage or scheduling fees, and include engineering time for parser maintenance.
  6. Canary the migration. Route a small percentage of production traffic, compare records and screenshots, and retain a rollback path until quality and spend remain stable.

Troubleshooting common failures

HTML is empty or incomplete

The page may require JavaScript, a longer wait, a session or a different rendering mode. Try a browser-enabled request, wait for a meaningful selector or network idle, and inspect the raw response before changing parsers.

Requests receive CAPTCHA or blocks

Check proxy geography, rotation and request rate. Reduce concurrency, preserve cookies when a session is required and verify that your use complies with the target site’s terms and applicable law. Do not assume a premium proxy tier is automatically included.

Costs exceed the estimate

Look for rendered requests, high-tier targets, retries and failed-request billing. Export usage by endpoint and classify requests by feature. For usage-based services, enforce the monthly spending limit; for credit plans, alert before the allowance is exhausted.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Data works in one country but not another

Set the requested geography explicitly and test localized URLs, currency, language and consent behavior. Provider-wide country claims do not guarantee equivalent access to a particular domain.

Throughput is lower than expected

Separate provider rate limits from target-site throttling. Check concurrency and requests-per-minute ceilings, queue time, connection reuse and batch support. Increase parallelism only while error rates and data quality remain acceptable.

Decision guide

  • Choose ScrapingBee for a conventional API with clearly published fixed credit tiers and concurrency.
  • Choose Zyte API when variable traffic, automatic technology selection and usage-based billing suit your controls.
  • Choose Apify when reusable Actors, scheduling, storage and integrations are central.
  • Choose Bright Data when structured, high-concurrency or batch extraction is the primary problem.
  • Evaluate the wider shortlist only after confirming current terms and testing your domains.
  • Choose ScreenshotNeo when the deliverable is a clean screenshot or PDF, especially for visual monitoring and AI-agent workflows.

Compliance and operational safeguards

Define allowed domains, robots and terms-of-service review, personal-data handling, retention, authentication-secret storage and audit logging before production. Use provider controls for rate limits and regional routing, and keep selectors and schemas versioned. A successful HTTP response is not proof that the extracted data is complete or legally usable.
