YouTuber Peter Sripol reportedly built a homemade, propeller-driven sled that reached 40 mph on open, snow-covered roads during a blizzard—but his trip to get Buffalo Wild Wings ended at a closed restaurant. The speed, build details and failed errand come from a Yahoo News / AT&T report published October 2, 2026; they have not been independently verified here.
What the “snow plane” was—and how it was built
Despite the playful “snow plane” label, the vehicle described in the report was a ground-running air sled, not a conventional aircraft. Sripol reportedly reused the steel fuselage from an overbuilt project he called Airplane Mark III, cutting it apart with an angle grinder and welding it into a sled frame.

- Propulsion: a 185cc paramotor engine mounted at the rear to push the sled with a propeller.
- Runners: children’s snowboards used as skis.
- Suspension: a simple leaf-spring arrangement.
- Cabin: salvaged acrylic sheets forming an enclosed cockpit, with a 12-volt car heater.
- Braking: a lever-operated wood block.
The report also attributes to Sripol the description, “This is not up to any aviation standards whatsoever.” That characterization fits the improvised nature of the build, but the statement is reported secondhand rather than checked against the original video.

Did it really reach 40 mph?
The report says the sled reached 40 mph on open, snow-covered roads. That figure is an attributed claim, not an independently verified speed test: no measurement method, instrument, or test protocol is established. The report does not identify the storm’s location or severity either, so the speed should not be treated as a general measure of how the machine would perform in other conditions.
How did it steer and stop?
The report says the sled’s long wheelbase made turning difficult. It describes a wood block operated by a lever as the brake, but does not establish stopping distances or how reliably that setup worked. It recounts runs through empty fields and a Lowe’s parking lot; those accounts do not establish that the vehicle was road-legal or suitable for public-road use.

Why didn’t the trip end with chicken wings?
According to the report, Sripol set out for Buffalo Wild Wings because he wanted chicken wings, but the restaurant was closed. The report quotes him saying, “Even though you have a vehicle that drives around the snow, they close places early. So we have to leave cuz they’re not open,” and recounts his uncertainty about the machine’s practical use. The reported anticlimax was a closed restaurant, not a documented breakdown or inability to travel there.
What is—and isn’t—confirmed about the build
The account was published by Yahoo News / AT&T on October 2, 2026, but its page could not be fetched directly. A third-party mirror listing shows a PeterSripol video titled “Building a Snow AIR speeder (snow plane),” with a displayed runtime of 20:54; that listing does not independently verify the report’s specific build or performance claims.

For that reason, the engine size, construction details, speed, handling, brake design and restaurant closure should all be read as claims attributed to the secondary report, not as independently observed facts. The report does not provide a complete parts list, model details for the heater, a verified speed record, or confirmation from the restaurant.
