On a compatible Samsung Smart TV, open Home > Apps, find YouTube TV, then select it and save it to your home screen. Samsung TVs from model year 2017 onward are listed as supported, but availability can vary by model and regional app catalog. Google’s setup instructions recommend updating the TV firmware if you have trouble.
Install YouTube TV from Samsung Apps
- Press Home on the Samsung remote.
- Select Apps to open the app area.
- Find YouTube TV. Check the name: it is a separate app from the regular YouTube app.
- Select YouTube TV and choose the option to add or save it to the home screen, if offered.
- Open the app and follow its sign-in prompts.
These are Google’s published Samsung TV directions. Menu names and layout can differ by model and software version. If installation or access fails, update the television’s firmware to the latest version. Google’s YouTube TV setup page has the device instructions.
Check whether your Samsung TV is supported
Google lists Samsung smart TVs from 2017 onward as supported. That model-year guidance does not guarantee that the app will appear on every set or in every regional app catalog. Check your television’s model information, update its firmware, and look for the app in Samsung Apps. Google’s supported-device list provides the compatibility reference.

If YouTube TV does not appear or install
If the TV cannot install the app, you can use an external streaming device that supports YouTube TV instead. Google lists options including Chromecast with Google TV and Fire TV devices. Confirm that the exact device model is supported and available in your market before buying; an external device is a fallback, not a requirement for a compatible Samsung TV. Troubleshoot YouTube TV on a Samsung TV
- Check location settings. Make sure your account’s Home Area—the residence ZIP code—and your Current Playback Area—the place you are physically watching—are accurate. The Current Playback Area can change when you travel.
- Restart the connection. Power cycle the TV and router, then try the app again.
- Check for updates. Install available Samsung TV system updates and app updates.
- Reopen or reinstall the app. Close and reopen YouTube TV. If that does not help, uninstall it, reinstall it, and sign in again.
- Test another app. If other apps also fail, the problem may involve the television manufacturer; Google recommends contacting the manufacturer.
