If your YouTube stream key stopped working after you transferred an Indian channel to a Brand Account, first confirm you selected the right channel and can access its live-stream settings. Then copy the current key from that channel’s Live Control Room, replace the key in your encoder, and verify the server URL and protocol. YouTube’s guidance does not say that a transfer automatically invalidates a stream key, and it documents no India-specific key format or fix.
Fix the key and encoder settings first
Work through these checks in order. A saved key can be old, belong to a different channel, or be paired with the wrong ingest URL. YouTube describes stream keys as “like your YouTube stream’s password and address.” YouTube Help: Manage live stream settings
- Select the transferred channel. In YouTube Studio, check the channel identity before opening its live settings. If you manage more than one channel, do not assume the account currently selected is the one you transferred or intend to stream from.
- Check that your account can access the key. Open YouTube Studio → Create → Go Live → Stream. If the stream-key setting is unavailable, check the channel role; the permissions section below explains who can access or reset it.
- Copy the current stream key. In the intended channel’s Live Control Room, copy the key shown for the stream. If an authorized owner or manager resets it, copy the newly generated key rather than continuing to use the old saved value.
- Replace the saved key in your encoder. Paste the current key into the encoder’s Stream Key field, replacing—not appending to—the old value. Save the setting. - Verify the server URL and protocol. Use the Live server URL shown in Live Control Room. If you configured RTMPS, use the RTMPS URL and confirm the encoder supports RTMPS; do not pair an RTMPS setting with a different protocol’s URL. YouTube Help: Create a YouTube live stream with an encoder
- Test the connection again. Start the encoder’s connection and check Live Control Room for whether YouTube receives the feed. If it still fails, use the symptom-specific checks below.
Check Brand Account transfer and channel permissions
A Brand Account can let more than one Google Account manage a YouTube channel, but access is governed by the channel’s ownership and permission setup. For a documented Brand Account-to-Brand Account transfer, YouTube says the Google Account carrying it out must be the primary account owner. If the channel uses channel permissions, it must be opted out of those permissions to complete the transfer; users with channel permissions may need to be removed as directed in the transfer flow. Channel permissions can also explain why one person can work with the channel but cannot see or change live-stream settings. YouTube says viewers cannot access the stream key, change stream settings, or go live. Owners and managers can manage live streams, and only owners or managers can reset a key. If your role is insufficient, ask an authorized owner or manager to check the key or update access. These transfer requirements do not establish that moving the channel automatically invalidates its key. Check the selected channel, your role, the value saved in the encoder, and its server configuration before assuming the transfer itself caused the failure.
Diagnose RTMPS and other connection errors
SSL error or RTMPS connection failure
If your encoder is set to use RTMPS, copy the RTMPS URL from Live Control Room and confirm that the encoder supports RTMPS. YouTube says an encoder without RTMPS support can time out. For a persistent SSL error, YouTube suggests trying port 443. Use the exact server details shown in Live Control Room and the encoder’s own port setting; do not change protocols without matching the URL. YouTube Help: Encrypt your stream using RTMPS

Key is correct, but YouTube still will not accept the stream
Check whether the channel meets YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility conditions: the channel must be verified and must not have had a live-streaming restriction in the previous 90 days. YouTube also lists operational limits of 10 active streams per channel and 3 active streams per stream key. These are platform limits to check, not proof that a limit caused a particular error. Previously used stream or encoder settings
If you reused a prior stream, YouTube says earlier settings, including the stream key, may load. Confirm that the loaded key is the current one for the intended channel and that the server URL and protocol also match that channel’s Live Control Room settings. Third-party software login error
If the software connects to YouTube through a sign-in flow rather than a stream key and its login fails, YouTube directs users to the software provider’s support. That is a different failure path from an encoder rejecting a key you entered manually. YouTube Help: Troubleshoot your YouTube live stream
What is different for an Indian channel?
The YouTube guidance cited here covers channel transfers, permissions, keys, encoder setup, and live eligibility generally. It does not describe a special Indian stream-key format or a separate India-only transfer fix. Follow the same checks for channel identity, authorization, current key, server URL, and protocol; do not assume the country caused the key failure.
