A YouTube Live stream-health warning after switching from Jio to Airtel does not, by itself, prove Airtel caused the problem. First read the exact warning in YouTube Live Control Room and your encoder’s diagnostics; then compare the same setup over Airtel Wi-Fi, Airtel Ethernet, and another connection if available. Those comparisons can narrow the cause, but they do not identify it automatically.
First, identify what is actually failing
This guide concerns the outgoing stream sent from your encoder to YouTube’s ingest service—not a viewer’s buffering while watching an otherwise healthy broadcast. YouTube documents distinct stream-health issues involving settings such as bitrate, frame rate, codecs and keyframes, as well as insufficient incoming video. The exact warning matters more than the fact that your broadband provider changed.
- While live, open YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room and note the full stream-health warning and the time it appeared.
- Record your selected resolution and frame rate, configured bitrate, and whether the warning is continuous or intermittent.
- Check the encoder’s own status or logs for network-dropped frames, rendering or encoding lag, and named configuration warnings.
YouTube’s Live Streaming API documentation describes videoIngestionStarved as: “YouTube is not receiving enough video to maintain smooth streaming.” That describes what YouTube is receiving; it does not prove whether the cause is the encoder, local network, broadband path, or YouTube. YouTube’s stream-health issue documentation lists separate categories rather than one generic bad-internet diagnosis.

| Warning family | What it indicates | What to check next |
|---|---|---|
| Bitrate high or low | The current bitrate is above or below YouTube’s recommended value for the configuration. | Review the encoder’s output settings and whether upload delivery is stable. Use the expected value shown for the specific warning; a speed test alone does not confirm stable ingest. |
| Frame rate | The frame rate may be too high or may differ between primary and backup streams. | Verify the encoder’s output frame rate and ensure primary and backup profiles match if you use both. |
| Codec or container | A video or audio codec may be unsupported, or the container may be incorrect. | Check the encoder’s selected format against the requirements named in YouTube’s warning. |
| Keyframes or GOP | Keyframes may be too far apart, or streams may not match. YouTube’s documented gopSizeLong issue says keyframe frequency should be four seconds or less. |
Check the encoder’s keyframe interval and stream consistency where applicable. This documented value is not a universal cure for unrelated warnings. |
| Ingestion starvation | YouTube is not receiving enough video to maintain smooth streaming. | Compare encoder network-drop diagnostics, wired versus Wi-Fi results, and another connection if available. Do not infer the provider is at fault without comparison. |
See YouTube’s official documentation for the meanings of the health issue categories. If the warning names a setting, investigate that setting before changing unrelated router or DNS options.

Compare Airtel Wi-Fi with Airtel Ethernet
Use the same streaming computer, encoder, stream profile and router, changing only the computer’s connection where practical. Test over Airtel Wi-Fi, then connect directly to the Airtel router by Ethernet and repeat under similar conditions. Note the time, warning and encoder diagnostics for each attempt.
- If Ethernet is stable while Wi-Fi repeatedly fails, investigate Wi-Fi signal strength, router placement, interference and competing devices before blaming the broadband provider.
- If both connections show the same problem, Wi-Fi becomes a less likely explanation, but the comparison does not isolate the ISP or YouTube.
- If you lack a suitable cable, a standard Cat6 Ethernet cable can enable this comparison; it cannot fix an encoder misconfiguration, a broadband routing or congestion issue, or a YouTube-side problem.

Test another connection before contacting Airtel
If wired Airtel still produces the warning, repeat a controlled test over another connection if one is available—for example, a phone hotspot. Keep the encoder, computer, stream settings and broadcast location as consistent as possible, and record the time and results. YouTube Help also recommends switching connections as a troubleshooting step.

- If YouTube ingest has trouble while other services work, that alone does not establish an ISP restriction or a YouTube fault.
- Share reproducible results and timestamps with your provider and ask them to investigate; avoid switching providers again based on an unverified diagnosis.

Use Jio diagnostics only to assess the former Jio setup
MyJio’s Run Diagnostics tool can help establish how the old JioFiber setup behaved. Jio’s instructions say to open MyJio, go to Home, choose JioCare, and select Run Diagnostics. The tool checks JioFiber network health, router status, Wi-Fi strength and connected devices; it may flag a weak signal, offline router, loose cable, speed drop or configuration error.
- Open the MyJio app and go to Home.
- Choose JioCare.
- Select Run Diagnostics and review any findings or remediation steps.
Jio’s diagnostic pages describe Jio services, not Airtel. A healthy Jio result or a problem found on the old connection does not establish that Airtel is responsible for the current warning. Jio: Run Diagnostics and JioFiber diagnostics.

Why a speed test may not settle it
A speed test is one data point, not proof that the route from your encoder to YouTube’s ingest service is healthy. Test-server placement can affect what a result represents, and jitter matters to real-time video. TRAI’s 2023 consultation paper discusses these measurement limitations; it is a consultation document, so its proposed thresholds should not be treated as current binding standards. TRAI consultation paper (2023).
Common troubleshooting mistakes
- Changing several things at once: If you alter Wi-Fi, bitrate and encoder settings together, you will not know which change affected the result. Change one variable at a time.
- Assuming “bad internet” from a generic warning: Record the exact text and compare it with YouTube’s documented issue categories.
- Treating a fast speed test as a guarantee: It does not reproduce the full path or conditions of a live ingest. Compare actual encoder diagnostics and controlled connection tests.
- Using Jio’s app to diagnose Airtel: MyJio Run Diagnostics evaluates the Jio setup, not the current Airtel connection.
- Blaming the provider because the timing coincided: A provider change is a reason to investigate the network path, not a diagnosis. Repeat tests and share timestamps before drawing conclusions.
