If YouTube says you have too many live streams scheduled, first check whether it means active streams or broadcasts being created. YouTube’s published limits are 10 active streams per channel and 3 per stream key at the same time—not a stated daily limit on scheduled broadcasts. Stop broadcasts that are still live but should have ended, confirm the channel is eligible to livestream, and inspect the full error if you are using the API. YouTube does not publish a guaranteed wait time that resets this message.
First identify which limit or error you are seeing
The wording matters. A message such as “You are creating too many live streams. Please wait a while before creating further streams” may appear when creating a broadcast, while a message about reaching the maximum number of active streams points to simultaneous broadcasts. YouTube Help documents a maximum of 10 active streams per channel and 3 active streams per stream key, with both limits applied at the same time. These figures concern streams that are active, not scheduled broadcasts. The Help page does not state a fixed daily quota for creating or scheduling broadcasts. Write down the exact message and where it appears—YouTube Studio or an API response—before changing anything. If you use the Data API, retain the HTTP status, error reason, and complete response body.

Fix it in YouTube Studio
1. Find broadcasts that are still active
- Open YouTube Studio and go to the Live Control Room.
- Review current and recent broadcasts, including test streams and encoder sessions that may have been left running.
- Stop only a stream that is genuinely finished. Do not delete scheduled broadcasts as a first step: the documented limits are about active streams, and deleting a scheduled event is not an established fix for a creation limit.
If the channel has reached either published simultaneous limit—10 active streams per channel or 3 active streams per stream key—another stream cannot start until an active stream ends. [YouTube Help: Get started with live streaming]
2. Confirm the channel can livestream
YouTube says a channel must be verified and must not have had a live-streaming restriction in the previous 90 days. Its current Help page also says livestreamers must be at least 16 years old. Check the channel that is actually signed in; a restriction or eligibility issue on one channel is not fixed by changing the streaming software. [YouTube Help: Get started with live streaming]

3. Retry cautiously
After resolving a genuine active-stream or eligibility issue, make one deliberate attempt to create or start the broadcast. If the same creation message remains, avoid rapid repeated attempts. YouTube’s reviewed Help guidance does not specify a retry interval or a time at which a creation limit resets, so a claim such as “wait 24 hours” is not supported as official guidance.

Check the operation and the complete response
The API method used to create a broadcast is liveBroadcasts.insert. Review its response rather than treating every failed insertion as a stream-count problem. [Google Developers: liveBroadcasts.insert]

- Confirm the authenticated account is the intended YouTube channel.
- Check the full error response, including the HTTP status, reason, and message. A reported
403 insufficientLivePermissionsis an authorization error to investigate; by itself, it does not prove that a daily creation quota was reached. Historical developer reports describe creation-limit behavior, but they do not establish a current authoritative daily quota or reset window. If the checks above do not explain the failure, preserve the response and contact YouTube support rather than guessing at a cooldown.
What not to do
- Do not assume that deleting scheduled events will clear an active-stream limit.
- Do not treat a particular waiting period as guaranteed; no current reset interval is specified in the cited Help guidance.
