The standard YouTube Premium individual plan in the United States now costs $15.99 per month, up from $13.99. The family plan is $26.99 per month, while Premium Lite and YouTube Music have separate prices. Existing members’ first charge at the new rate depends on their billing cycle.
How much is YouTube Premium now?
TechCrunch reported on April 10, 2026, that YouTube confirmed these U.S. monthly price changes:

The prices are for U.S. plans; the $15.99 figure applies to the standard individual YouTube Premium plan, not every tier. Premium Lite offers ad-free viewing for most content, but its offer excludes songs and music videos. Check YouTube’s account details for the current features and eligibility of each plan, which may change. TechCrunch’s April 10 report covered the announced prices and Lite distinction.

The announcement date is not necessarily the date an existing member first pays the higher price. YouTube says members receive an email at least 30 days before a price increase in their country or territory. The new rate applies in the first billing cycle that begins at least 30 days after the plan’s price increase, so the date varies by account and billing schedule. A paused membership is billed at the new price when it resumes. YouTube’s price-change guidance explains the notice and billing rules.

How do I check my YouTube Premium billing date?
- Sign in to the Google account used for your membership.
- Open YouTube’s Purchases and memberships area.
- Select the membership to review its current price and billing details. Check your email from YouTube for the price-change notice as well.
YouTube directs members to Purchases and memberships to confirm the price and account-specific billing details. Use the date shown for your account rather than assuming all U.S. subscribers will be charged on one common date.
Why did YouTube raise the prices?
YouTube told TechCrunch that it was updating U.S. Premium prices for the first time since 2023 to continue delivering a high-quality experience that supports creators and artists. A spokesperson also cited ad-free viewing, background play, and a library of more than 300 million tracks on YouTube Music as features the change helps maintain. Those are the company’s stated reasons, not an independent assessment of the price increase. TechCrunch reported that the previous U.S. increase to the standard individual plan took place in July 2023, when it rose from $11.99 to $13.99.

TechCrunch also reported YouTube’s figure of 125 million subscribers across YouTube Music and YouTube Premium as of March 2025. That is a global combined figure, not a count of U.S. YouTube Premium subscribers. TechCrunch’s report attributes the figure to YouTube.
