An individual YouTube Premium plan is for one person. A Family plan covers up to six people total—the manager plus five household members—and a Two-person plan covers two people where available. Each person uses their own Google Account; the member limit is not a shared-login limit.
How many people does each YouTube Premium plan cover?
| Plan | People covered | Household requirement | Ordinary video and audio streams |
|---|---|---|---|
| Individual | 1 | Single-user plan | 1 device at a time |
| Two-person | 2 | Both people must live in the same household | Up to 2 simultaneous streams |
| Family | 6: the manager and up to 5 additional members | Members must live at the manager’s residential address | Up to 6 simultaneous streams |
YouTube’s limits count people covered by a membership, while streaming limits count devices playing at the same time. The Individual plan is not intended for multiple people sharing one account. See YouTube’s guidance on joining Premium and its streaming limits.
How does sharing a Family plan work?
The family manager is the primary account holder who manages the group. The manager can invite up to five eligible people, making six members in total. Everyone accesses Premium using a separate Google Account, so family members keep their own libraries, subscriptions, recommendations, and watch histories rather than sharing them with the group.
Members must live at the same residential address as the manager and be in a supported region. YouTube’s family-plan rules also say members cannot use Google Workspace accounts to start or join a plan, belong to another family group, or have switched family groups in the previous 12 months. Family plans are not offered everywhere, so check YouTube’s current family-plan eligibility details for your location.

Who can use the Two-person plan?
The Two-person plan covers a manager and one other person living in the same household. YouTube currently lists availability in Argentina, Australia, Bangladesh, Cambodia, France, Hong Kong, India, Laos, Nepal, and Taiwan. Availability can change, so confirm that the option appears for your country on YouTube’s Two-person plan page before relying on it.
Do member limits mean everyone can stream at once?
No. For ordinary videos and audio, YouTube allows up to one device at a time on an Individual plan, two simultaneous streams on a Two-person plan, and six on a Family plan. Some free movies have a separate, lower device allowance: one device on Individual and Student plans, two on Two-person, and four on Family. These playback limits are distinct from the number of people enrolled. Check the details in YouTube Premium’s streaming-limit guidance.
