Choose a YouTube Premiere if your Hindi news bulletin is already edited and you want viewers to watch it together at a scheduled time. Choose OBS when you need to produce a live broadcast—such as a newsroom handoff, rolling graphics, multiple video sources, or live audio and scene changes. They are not direct substitutes: a Premiere is a YouTube viewing format for an uploaded video; OBS is production software that can send a live feed to YouTube.
Premiere or OBS: which fits your replay channel?

For a completed Hindi bulletin that viewers should discuss while watching, a Premiere is usually the simpler fit. OBS is the better fit if the programme itself is being produced live or needs live control. These recommendations follow the documented workflows, not a test of your channel’s equipment or audience. You can also combine the formats: eligible creators can redirect a live audience to a Premiere.
What a YouTube Premiere gives viewers
A Premiere is an uploaded video presented as a scheduled shared event, not a live camera or encoder broadcast. You can schedule it so its public watch page exists before playback, share that page, and let viewers set reminders, comment, or chat. During playback, viewers watch together: they may rewind, but cannot fast-forward beyond the point already shown. The countdown is not part of the video. Afterward, the video remains on the channel as a regular upload, with chat replay available. YouTube’s current help guidance also says Premieres do not support Shorts or output above 1080p. Schedule and prepare the event
- In YouTube Studio, upload the finished bulletin and enter its details.
- Choose to publish it as an instant Premiere, or schedule a date and time and mark it as a Premiere.
- Share the resulting public watch-page URL so viewers can visit in advance and set reminders.
- If chat is part of the event, check chat settings and moderation arrangements; enable chat replay if you want it available afterward.
YouTube recommends scheduling at least 24 hours ahead to give viewers more time to see the thumbnail in subscriptions, promoting the watch-page URL, turning on chat replay, and participating in chat. When OBS is the better choice
OBS Studio is free, open-source software for video recording and live streaming. It can capture and mix sources such as windows, images, text, browser windows, webcams, and capture cards; switch between scenes with transitions; and apply audio filters per source. That can suit a live news layout or a programme assembled from sources as it goes out. OBS does not, by itself, establish that your hardware, internet connection, rights, or staffing are adequate for a reliable broadcast.
For YouTube encoder streaming, you manage the broadcast in YouTube and provide OBS with the stream destination and key. YouTube describes the stream key as the password and address that allow it to accept the encoder feed, so treat it as sensitive: do not show it on air, publish it, or share it with people who should not control the broadcast. Prepare and check an encoder broadcast
- Set up the encoder event in YouTube in advance and configure OBS for the intended programme and YouTube stream.
- Keep the stream key private. If it is exposed, use YouTube’s channel controls to replace or reset it before relying on it.
- Start the encoder before the scheduled event so you can check the incoming feed.
- In YouTube’s Live Control Room, inspect the preview before starting the public broadcast.
- Confirm access from the channel and watch pages, and check viewing on a mobile device.
- Monitor picture and sound continuously while live. If you are making a local archive, verify that recording separately.
YouTube’s encoder workflow calls for advance setup, a preview check, access checks, and ongoing audio/video monitoring. The exact OBS settings depend on the source material, hardware, connection, and broadcast configuration; the cited guidance does not establish one bitrate, resolution, or keyframe value suitable for every Hindi news channel. Keep local recordings separate from YouTube replays
OBS has separate streaming and recording settings, as well as a Replay Buffer feature. A Replay Buffer is a local capture function; it is not the same as a YouTube post-stream replay or the chat replay attached to a Premiere. Decide separately whether you need a local recording, a viewer-facing archive, and chat history, then confirm each one is enabled and saved where you expect. Can you use both for one programme?
Yes. YouTube Live Redirect can send the audience of a live stream to a Premiere. YouTube’s current help guidance says the creator sending the redirect needs more than 1,000 subscribers and no Community Guidelines strikes. A possible workflow is a short live introduction or newsroom handoff, followed by the scheduled shared playback. Rights and channel checks for a Hindi news replay
The choice between Premiere and OBS does not clear the rights to bulletin footage, music, images, clips, or other material. Before scheduling or broadcasting, check that your channel has permission to use every element and that the planned replay complies with YouTube’s policies and your newsroom’s rules.
