YouTube’s published Premiere instructions do not state that creating a Premiere is generally blocked in India. If Set as Premiere is missing, first check the video’s format and resolution, its visibility and scheduling flow, your channel’s feature eligibility, and any policy notices. A requirement for more than 1,000 subscribers applies to adding a trailer to a Premiere page—not, according to the available YouTube guidance, to creating a basic Premiere.
Is YouTube Premiere blocked in India?
YouTube’s help instructions document how to create or schedule a Premiere and do not describe a general India-wide prohibition. An India-specific availability listing for another feature, such as Super Chat or Super Stickers, does not establish a country restriction for Premieres. Those optional features have their own eligibility and video conditions; they are separate from the Premiere setting.
Check the video and publishing flow
Use an eligible format and resolution
- Shorts are not supported for Premieres.
- YouTube’s Premiere instructions also list 360/VR180 videos and output above 1080p as unsupported.
If the upload falls into one of those categories, try an eligible standard video instead.
Set the video to public
In YouTube Studio, upload the video or open the upload and go to the Visibility step. A Premiere must be public. To release it later, choose Schedule and select Set as Premiere. YouTube also supports making an eligible public upload an instant Premiere.

Check channel feature eligibility and account notices
Review Feature eligibility in Studio
Open YouTube Studio > Settings > Channel > Feature eligibility and review the status and any notices shown. Follow any verification steps requested there. YouTube notes that some features have separate requirements, so this page is useful for diagnosis but does not by itself establish a single eligibility rule for every Premiere-related option.
Look for a Community Guidelines strike or restriction
Review YouTube Studio and your account notifications for a strike or policy restriction. A Community Guidelines penalty can prevent a scheduled Premiere from publishing during the penalty period. YouTube says the Premiere is set to private; after the freeze ends, reschedule it.

Distinguish advanced-feature errors from basic Premiere access
If Studio shows an advanced-feature error, check that you are signed into the correct Google account and channel. YouTube says advanced features may be unavailable when a person other than the primary owner is signed in, including in some Brand Account situations, and an incompatible browser can also cause an error. These are troubleshooting clues for advanced-feature access; they do not prove that either condition automatically blocks the basic Premiere option. If you can, retry in a current compatible browser and confirm your channel role.

Do not treat the more-than-1,000-subscriber threshold as a universal requirement for creating a Premiere. YouTube documents that threshold, together with having no Community Guidelines strikes, for adding a trailer to a Premiere page. A trailer, custom countdown, and monetization options are add-ons; their eligibility conditions should not be confused with the basic act of setting an eligible video as a Premiere.

If the Premiere option is still missing
- Confirm the video is not a Short, 360/VR180 video, or above 1080p.
- In the video’s Visibility settings, confirm it is public; for a future release, choose Schedule and check Set as Premiere.
- Check Settings > Channel > Feature eligibility and complete any requested verification.
- Review account and Studio notifications for a strike, penalty, or other policy restriction. If a scheduled Premiere was frozen, wait until the penalty period ends and schedule it again.
- If an advanced-feature error appears, verify the signed-in account and channel role, then try a current compatible browser.
- If the basic option remains unavailable, contact YouTube Help or Creator Support where available. Include the channel, video format and resolution, the exact Studio screen where the option is missing, and any displayed error. The cause may depend on account-specific Studio status, which cannot be determined from the option’s absence alone.
Schedule ahead only for promotion
YouTube recommends scheduling a Premiere at least 24 hours in advance so viewers have a chance to see its thumbnail in their subscriptions feed. This is a promotional recommendation, not an eligibility rule; it will not make an otherwise unavailable Premiere option appear.
