If YouTube says live streaming is disabled—even when Studio shows Feature eligibility as “Enabled”—check the account’s actual notices before assuming what happened. On a computer, open YouTube Studio and go to Settings → Channel → Feature eligibility. Then check the Studio dashboard for strikes or violations, and search Studio notifications and your email for YouTube’s restriction notice and any appeal instructions. Feature eligibility is useful, but it does not manage every feature or requirement.

Review Feature eligibility
In YouTube Studio on a computer, open Settings → Channel → Feature eligibility. Note which access levels or features are enabled. YouTube Help cautions: “not all YouTube features are managed from within the Feature eligibility tab, and some features may have separate eligibility requirements.” An enabled label therefore does not, on its own, confirm that live streaming is available. Check the Studio dashboard for strikes
Look for channel violations or strikes on the Studio dashboard. YouTube specifically directs creators whose live streams stop to check for strikes. A strike on an active or archived live stream may affect live-stream access; the dashboard and account notice are more useful than guessing from the disabled message alone. Search notifications and email for YouTube’s notice
Review notifications in Studio and the email associated with the channel. YouTube says it will email creators when a live stream or channel is restricted, with appeal instructions where applicable. Read the notice closely: it may identify the policy or content at issue and tell you what action, if any, is available. Follow the instructions attached to your case rather than relying on a generic troubleshooting checklist. YouTube Help: Restrictions on live streaming.

Check copyright separately
Live streams are scanned for third-party content. A detected match can interrupt a stream. Even if you have a licence, the stream may still be interrupted if the rights holder has not allowlisted your channel. Check Studio and any copyright-related notice for the specific match and directions; do not assume that an interruption proves a channel-wide restriction. Use the appeal or help route in the notice
If the notice explains an appeal option and you believe the decision is mistaken, use the route and steps it provides. YouTube’s strike guidance describes appealing a strike, but the available path depends on the case. An appeal is not a guarantee that access will be restored. What the disabled message does—and does not—tell you
YouTube says a channel must be verified and have no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days to live stream. That is a platform eligibility requirement, not a way to identify the reason for a particular channel’s restriction. YouTube Help: Get started with live streaming.
A creator may see wording such as “Live streaming has been disabled. Please review YouTube’s policy for more information.” A May 2026 YouTube Community post used that wording while its poster reported Feature Eligibility as “Enabled.” That is an example of a user’s report, not an official diagnostic rule and not evidence that every channel with the same message has the same cause. YouTube’s public help pages describe possible causes; they cannot show your private enforcement status or establish when your access will return. The account notice is the relevant evidence for your case. Do not infer that a strike exists, that eligibility needs to “sync,” or that access will return after a fixed wait unless your account’s notice or an official YouTube source says so.

Do not try to bypass a live-stream restriction
Do not switch to another channel to keep streaming while the restriction is active. YouTube prohibits using another channel to circumvent a live-stream restriction and warns that circumvention may lead to termination. Resolve the restriction through the notice’s instructions instead. YouTube Help: Restrictions on live streaming.
