If YouTube’s Go Live option disappeared after you switched channels, first confirm which channel is selected. Live-stream eligibility and restrictions belong to the channel, not just the Google Account you used to sign in. Then check that channel’s verification and restriction status; if the issue occurs only in an encoder or another app, check its channel-switching support.
1. Confirm the channel YouTube is using
YouTube lets you use one channel at a time. Check the profile name and icon in YouTube before troubleshooting; the active channel may not be the one you intended to use. [YouTube Help: Switch between channels on a Google Account]
- In YouTube, select your profile picture and check the displayed channel name and icon.
- If it is the wrong channel, open the account or channel switcher and choose the intended one.
- Check whether Go Live is available while that channel is selected.
If the channel is missing from the switcher
YouTube recommends trying the channel switcher in YouTube Studio. If the channel is linked to a Brand Account, make sure the Google Account you are signed in with is listed as a manager of that Brand Account. A channel not appearing is an account-access or selection issue to resolve before diagnosing live-stream eligibility. [YouTube Help: Switch between channels on a Google Account]
2. Check whether that channel is eligible to live stream
Switching to the correct channel does not itself make that channel eligible. YouTube’s current guidance, accessed in 2026, says a channel must be verified and have had no live-stream restrictions in the previous 90 days. YouTube also says creators must be at least 16 to live stream; age and policy conditions can affect access. [YouTube Help: Get started with live streaming] [YouTube Help: Live stream restrictions]

Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
- Open YouTube Studio while the intended channel is selected.
- Review the channel’s live-stream access, verification status, and any notices about strikes or restrictions.
- If the channel is not verified, complete YouTube’s channel-verification process and check access again.
- If a restriction or policy notice appears, follow the notice and YouTube’s appeal or resolution process where available. Switching channels is not a way around an active restriction.
Understand the restriction periods
YouTube says a strike can prevent live streaming for 14 days. Separately, eligibility requires no live-stream restrictions in the preceding 90 days. These are distinct rules: the 14-day period describes a stated consequence of a strike, while the 90-day period is the eligibility lookback. [YouTube Help: Get started with live streaming] [YouTube Help: Live stream restrictions]
YouTube prohibits a creator with an active live-stream restriction from using another channel to live stream. Do not try to bypass a restriction by changing channels; resolve the issue through the affected channel and YouTube’s stated process. [YouTube Help: Live stream restrictions]

3. If Go Live works in YouTube but not in your streaming app
If the intended channel can live stream in YouTube Studio but an encoder or other external app selects another channel or reports an error, the app’s account handling may be the issue. Some third-party and older apps do not support switching among channels connected to Brand Accounts. This points to an app compatibility or selection problem, but does not by itself prove a platform fault. [YouTube Help: Use apps with Brand Accounts]
- Update the app to its current version.
- Where the app asks for credentials, try signing in with the Google Account email and password associated with the channel.
- If the app cannot switch channels, set the intended channel as the default channel for apps that do not support switching.
- Test the channel in YouTube Studio. If it works there but not in one app, focus on that app’s channel-selection support rather than changing the channel’s eligibility settings.
4. Check for the daily live-stream creation limit
If you have reached YouTube’s daily limit for creating live streams, YouTube says to try again in 24 hours. This wait applies to that limit; it is not a universal activation delay after every channel switch. [YouTube Help: Live stream restrictions]

Or let it run in the cloud
If your access is restored and your goal is to keep a YouTube channel live with uploaded videos, StreamNeo can run the loop from the cloud. It does not restore YouTube eligibility or remove account restrictions; the channel still needs permission to go live.
- Upload a recording or build a playlist.
- Add your YouTube stream key once.
- Go live; StreamNeo loops the uploaded video from the cloud.
Your computer and home connection do not have to stay on. Every quality up to 4K 60fps is included at one flat price per slot, with no re-encoding; automatic recovery helps resume if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly pricing is $9.99 per month. StreamNeo is for YouTube and uploaded videos, not camera-based live production. See StreamNeo or start the free first day.
