Check YouTube Live eligibility
Before choosing a service, confirm that your channel is verified and has no live-streaming restriction in the previous 90 days. YouTube’s general live-streaming guidance says streamers must be at least 16. If live streaming has not been enabled on the channel before, activation can take up to 24 hours, so do this ahead of your planned start.
Choose a cloud service for prerecorded video
A cloud encoder sends prerecorded video to YouTube without an encoder running on your personal computer. YouTube’s encoder setup page lists Gyre as a cloud tool for 24/7 prerecorded streams. That listing is compatibility guidance, not a guarantee of performance or an endorsement. Verify that the service currently supports your intended video or playlist, repeat behavior, start and stop schedule, and YouTube account.
If you want to stream a live camera or production feed instead of prerecorded video, investigate a service or hardware encoder suited to that source. Do not assume a prerecorded-video looping service or a particular hardware device fits a live-camera setup.

Set up and test the stream
- Enable live streaming and check eligibility. Confirm your channel can go live before configuring the service.
- Create or schedule a stream. In YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room, create a stream and obtain its server URL and stream key.
- Connect the cloud encoder. Enter the destination URL and key in the service, following its current instructions. Treat the key like a password; anyone with it may be able to send a stream to your channel.
- Check the video and audio. Review the preview and stream health, then run a test before relying on a continuous broadcast. YouTube recommends RTMPS for supported encoder workflows.
- Confirm recovery and monitoring. Check how the service handles connection failures, reconnection, alerts, and support. Cloud hosting removes your personal computer from the encoding path, but it does not guarantee uninterrupted delivery.
- Plan for network capacity. YouTube recommends a 20% upload bandwidth margin. This is a recommendation for the streaming connection, not a guarantee that a particular service or network will remain available.
For encoder settings, follow the cloud provider’s instructions and YouTube’s current encoder guidance for your chosen codec, resolution, and frame rate. YouTube’s H.264 guidance lists 5 Mbps for 1080p at 30 fps; that is an ingestion recommendation, not a universal setting for every encoder or source. YouTube also recommends keyframes every 2 seconds, not exceeding 4 seconds.
Understand replay limits
YouTube’s encoder instructions say streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. Those instructions do not promise that a stream running longer than 12 hours will be saved as one complete replay. If a complete replay matters, consider organizing the broadcast into shorter sessions or retaining the original video files separately.

Keep the stream key secure
- Do not publish the stream key or share it in public messages.
- Enter it only in the intended streaming service and protect access to that account.
- If the key is exposed, reset it in YouTube Studio and update the encoder with the new key.

What does “without keeping your computer on” mean?
The prerecorded video is sent to YouTube by a cloud service rather than by encoding software running on your home computer. You still need a suitable source video and a properly configured YouTube stream.
Can OBS run the stream while my computer is off?

What if I want to stream a live camera instead?
Look for a camera-connected service or hardware encoder that supports your actual source and operating needs. YouTube describes hardware encoders generally, but the reviewed guidance does not establish a particular device as suitable for unattended prerecorded-video looping.

Check the cloud service’s status and reconnection behavior, then review the stream preview and health in YouTube Studio.
