For a 720p, 30 fps YouTube live stream, use 1280×720 progressive video, constant bitrate (CBR), RTMP or RTMPS, and a two-second keyframe interval. YouTube recommends 8 Mbps video for H.264 or 6 Mbps for AV1/H.265 at this resolution and frame rate. For a 24/7 Punjabi music channel, settings are only part of the job: you also need rights for every recording you broadcast, a plan for YouTube’s 12-hour archive limit, and a way to keep the feed running if your encoder or connection fails.
Recommended YouTube Live settings for 720p at 30 fps
YouTube’s live encoder guidance gives the following bitrate recommendations for 720p30. These are video bitrates; account separately for audio and any backup feed.

For SDR picture settings, YouTube recommends Rec. 709 color and 8-bit depth. Its advanced guidance also lists square pixels, progressive scan, two B-frames, one reference frame, and CABAC. Copy the stream URL and stream key from YouTube Studio into your encoder’s streaming settings. Treat the key like a password: do not share it or show it on screen. If it is exposed, replace or reset it in YouTube Studio before broadcasting again.

Set the encoder to 1280×720 at 30 fps, progressive scan, CBR, and the chosen codec and video bitrate from the table above. Set the keyframe interval to 2 seconds and configure the recommended audio format.

Use RTMPS if both the encoder and YouTube’s ingest options support it; otherwise use RTMP. Do not assume a setting is active merely because it appears in the encoder: check the encoder’s output status and YouTube Studio’s stream health.

Start with a private or unlisted test, if appropriate for your channel. Include representative audio and moving video, then check for audio problems, dropped frames, and YouTube Studio warnings before making the stream public. YouTube specifically advises testing with audio and movement similar to the planned live stream.
YouTube uses automatic resolution and frame-rate detection by default and recommends that approach. To set resolution manually, create a custom stream key and enable manual settings in YouTube’s live setup. Available controls may differ by encoder.
How much upload speed does 720p30 need?
The stream’s total bitrate must fit within your available outbound upload capacity. YouTube recommends leaving 20% headroom and warns that download speed can be higher than upload speed; on a shared network, other activity may also reduce the bandwidth available to the encoder. Check sustained upload capacity rather than relying on a download-speed result.

At YouTube’s recommended H.264 video bitrate of 8 Mbps, adding 20% to the stream bitrate gives 9.6 Mbps. If instead you reserve 20% of total measured capacity, the calculation is 8 ÷ 0.8 = 10 Mbps for video alone. These are two ways to express the margin, not interchangeable measurements of your connection. Allow additional capacity for audio and any simultaneous backup stream, and ensure the stream remains below the capacity left after your chosen reserve.

A wired connection and monitoring can help with operational reliability, but YouTube’s cited guidance does not prescribe a particular router, ISP, cable, or failover service. The practical requirement is stable upload capacity with enough margin for the complete outgoing stream.
Plan for 24/7 operation and archiving
Know YouTube’s archive limit
YouTube says streams shorter than 12 hours can be automatically archived. If a stream exceeds 12 hours, it may not be captured at all. A single uninterrupted 24-hour broadcast therefore should not be treated as a dependable way to create an archive. YouTube recommends making a local recording as a backup; see its live stream archive guidance.

If archived playback matters, consider ending broadcasts before they reach 12 hours and starting new segments, or make a separate local recording. Confirm the actual workflow on your channel before relying on it: the guidance does not promise that splitting a broadcast preserves uninterrupted viewer playback.
Test and monitor the whole chain
Before committing to continuous operation, test the encoder, audio, upload connection, and YouTube ingest together. While live, monitor YouTube Studio’s stream health and messages. Decide in advance how someone—or an automated system—will detect a stopped feed, restart the encoder, and protect a local recording. YouTube’s general encoder guidance does not define a full-time failover design.

YouTube scans live streams for matches with third-party content. If it identifies copyrighted material, it may replace the stream with a placeholder and warn the operator; continued use can interrupt or terminate the broadcast. A copyright or Community Guidelines strike can also end a stream. See YouTube’s guidance on copyright issues with live streams.

Being able to play, buy, or download a Punjabi song does not by itself establish permission to broadcast it. Check the rights for each recording and use, including the relevant territories and whether the permission covers a live stream and any archived or on-demand playback. YouTube’s livestream terms say providers must have the necessary worldwide rights for live content, expressly including music licensing rights from artists, record labels, publishers (including public performance licenses), and other royalty participants.
If you have licensed third-party music, YouTube says to ask the rights owner to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist. A license may not by itself prevent a live interruption if the channel is not allowlisted. The rights needed depend on the specific songs, recordings, territories, and license terms; there is no blanket conclusion that Punjabi music, or any particular track, is cleared.
Common problems and fixes
