Monetization is not listed as a requirement for YouTube Live Redirect. YouTube Help says the sending channel needs more than 1,000 subscribers and no Community Guidelines strikes. A redirect to another channel also requires that channel to allow it. India-specific availability is not settled by the official guidance cited here, so check the channel’s eligibility, destination permissions and stream format before treating location as the cause.
What to check first
Live Redirect is configured separately from live-stream monetization. YouTube lists sender eligibility as more than 1,000 subscribers and no Community Guidelines strikes; it does not list monetization as a prerequisite. A monetized channel can therefore still fail a redirect check if it does not meet those requirements or the destination has not permitted the redirect.
- Sender: Confirm the channel sending viewers has more than 1,000 subscribers and no Community Guidelines strikes.
- Destination: If routing viewers to another channel, confirm that channel allows the sending channel to redirect to it.
- Format: Check that the originating stream is horizontal. YouTube lists Live Redirect as unavailable for the vertical live feed.
- India: The YouTube help materials cited here do not establish an India-only restriction. Do not assume geography is the cause without account-specific evidence.

Set up or verify the redirect in YouTube Studio
- Open YouTube Studio and go to Content > Live.
- Open the relevant live item and select Edit.
- Choose Customization > Redirect > Add.
- Select the intended destination, such as a Premiere or another channel’s live stream. If the destination does not appear, check that it has an active or upcoming stream or Premiere and that its permission settings allow your channel.
- Save the change. YouTube says viewers are sent to the selected destination after the originating stream ends; playback may take a short time to reload.
Check the receiving channel’s permissions
The destination channel controls which channels may redirect viewers to its live content. Its owner can allow channels it subscribes to when subscriptions are public, allow all channels, or approve specific channels. YouTube says the manually approved list can contain up to 100 channels. Ask the destination owner to check the setting and add your channel if necessary.

Permission matters for cross-channel redirects. If you are redirecting to your own Premiere or stream, confirm that the target is available for selection in Studio and that it is the intended item.
Why monetization does not resolve redirect eligibility
YouTube handles earnings and Live Redirect as separate controls. Monetized live streams may have ads, Super Chat and Super Stickers, and channel memberships, but those features do not substitute for redirect eligibility or destination permission. YouTube also cautions that ads are not guaranteed to serve in every slot.

If the problem is that ads or fan-funding features are unavailable, inspect the live stream’s monetization settings separately. YPP and individual monetization features have their own policy, region and account requirements. Those checks may explain an earnings issue, but the official materials cited here do not say that monetization status determines Live Redirect access.
If the redirect option is still missing
- Recheck the sender’s subscriber count and strike status against YouTube’s stated eligibility criteria.
- Ask the destination owner to confirm the permission setting and, if using the specific-channel option, that your channel is on the approved list.
- Confirm that you are configuring the right live item in Studio and that the destination is an eligible Premiere or live stream.
- Check that the originating stream is horizontal rather than part of the vertical live feed.
- Review any notices or restrictions shown for the channel in Studio. Account-specific restrictions can be separate from monetization status.
- If the documented checks pass and the option remains unavailable for a channel in India, consult current Studio notices or YouTube Creator Support. The cited public help materials do not confirm an India-specific Live Redirect rule.
