If your YouTube live stream keeps reconnecting on Excitel broadband, first check whether the encoder itself is failing or whether the wired internet connection is dropping. Log the exact interruption times, compare YouTube Live Control Room’s stream-health messages with encoder logs, and test sustained upload capacity against your stream’s bitrate. The title alone does not identify the cause: Excitel service, location, equipment, and encoder details all matter.
Start by recording what fails and when
Before changing settings, keep a short incident log. Use one time zone consistently and record:
- The time of each interruption and whether the encoder reports a disconnect, restart, or reconnect.
- YouTube Live Control Room’s stream-health status and any exact error text.
- Encoder CPU load, logs, and whether a local recording or preview also stutters.
- Router and ONT status lights, and whether other devices lose internet at the same time.
Save encoder logs and any local recording if available. Matching timestamps can help distinguish an encoder restart from loss of the WAN connection, but the log alone does not prove an Excitel line fault.

For a controlled test, connect the streaming computer directly to the router using Ethernet, if possible. Pause large uploads, cloud backups, and other high-bandwidth activity while you test. A Cat6 cable is one reasonable way to remove Wi-Fi as a variable; it cannot fix a fiber cut, provider-side congestion, or another upstream fault.

YouTube warns that shared network use can reduce the bandwidth available to a stream, and that a connectivity disruption can break a live broadcast. A fast download result does not establish stable upload capacity.
Measure sustained upload against the full stream bitrate
Test upload over the wired connection at several times and, if possible, while the stream is running. Compare the available upload with the encoder’s total bitrate. YouTube recommends leaving 20% upload headroom and accounting for primary and backup streams where applicable. The total bitrate must fit within the upload bandwidth actually available to the encoder.
Do not diagnose the connection from an advertised plan speed, a download-only result, or one brief speed test. This title gives no Excitel plan, location, wired measurements, or outage timestamps, so it cannot establish a specific minimum plan or prove that Excitel is responsible.

Check the encoder settings YouTube expects
Use YouTube’s current encoder guidance for your selected codec, resolution, and frame rate; recommended bitrates differ by configuration. For H.264, YouTube’s examples include:

These are configuration-specific recommendations, not universal settings or proof that a connection can sustain them. Confirm that your measured upload has enough headroom for the total bitrate.
For RTMP/RTMPS, YouTube recommends constant bitrate (CBR) and a keyframe interval of two seconds; do not exceed four seconds. YouTube recommends RTMPS as the encrypted option. In Live Control Room, read the specific stream-health error: it may identify incorrect bitrate, format, keyframe frequency, or a mismatch between primary and backup feeds.

Separate encoder trouble from an internet-path problem
If the local encoder preview or recording also stutters, inspect the source capture, encoder software, CPU load, and logs. YouTube recommends checking encoder health and CPU load first. If the encoder output looks healthy, test the outbound connection; YouTube advises contacting the internet service provider when that test identifies a connection problem.

Unsupported formats, incorrect bitrates, and keyframe timing errors can trigger stream-health problems even when the internet connection is stable.
Give Excitel support evidence they can investigate
Report the registered account and service location, the exact disruption times, wired upload results, and whether the ONT or router indicated loss of optical or WAN service. Ask support to check line and ONT status, area outages, and packet loss or repeated session drops during the logged windows. Keep the complaint reference and use Excitel’s published escalation process if needed.

Excitel’s support page lists app, phone, and email complaint routes, with a 24-working-business-hour target for network or technical issues. That is the provider’s stated handling target, not a guarantee of uninterrupted service or a finding about the cause. Excitel’s published terms describe plan speeds as best effort and variable with network conditions, customer equipment, Wi-Fi coverage, and other technical factors; this does not establish a fault on any particular subscriber’s line.

A recovery option only helps with the failures it covers. Compare what it protects against, its measured upload stability, whether failover is automatic or manual, the interruption time, and whether backup encoder settings match the primary feed.

Test encoder failover
YouTube recommends preparing encoder events in advance, monitoring audio and video, and testing backup-encoder failover by stopping the primary encoder or disconnecting its Ethernet cable. Make sure the backup configuration is compatible: YouTube flags mismatches such as bitrate, keyframe timing, frame rate, and audio settings. A backup encoder can protect against some encoder failures, but it does not provide another internet path if Excitel WAN service fails.

Evaluate power and independent connectivity separately
A UPS may help if local mains power is the diagnosed cause and it keeps the encoder, router, and ONT powered. It cannot keep the provider’s access network online during an upstream line or power fault. Excitel’s published terms describe equipment ownership and replacement conditions; check compatibility and support before replacing provider-supplied ONT equipment.
A separate ISP or wireless WAN could provide an independent path, but verify availability at the service address, sustained upload, stability, automatic failover behavior, and stream recovery. A second connection is not a continuity plan until it has been tested at the actual site.
