If YouTube keeps buffering while you watch a bhajan on your home PC, test the connection repeatedly on the same Wi‑Fi and in the same place where it happens. Record upload speed, latency, jitter and packet loss—not just download speed—and compare results during buffering with results at other times. If you are broadcasting your own bhajan stream, upload speed matters directly; if you are watching someone else’s stream, a low upload result alone does not identify the cause.

First, check whether you are watching or broadcasting

The right diagnosis depends on which direction video is travelling. When you watch another channel, YouTube sends video to your PC, so playback quality, download conditions, congestion and Wi‑Fi interference are relevant. When you broadcast your own stream, your PC sends video out; upload bandwidth and the stream’s health become central.

  • Watching: use the playback checks below. Do not treat a creator-side upload recommendation as a minimum speed for watching.
  • Broadcasting: test upload stability and inspect stream health in YouTube Live Control Room. YouTube says a connectivity disruption can break a stream.

Test Wi‑Fi stability with TRAI MySpeed

TRAI MySpeed measures upload and download speed as well as latency, jitter and packet loss. TRAI describes speed, video/browser, continuous and scheduled test modes; exact app screens and availability may change. A single run is a snapshot, not proof that a connection is stable or unstable. See TRAI’s broadband FAQ and the TRAI MySpeed information.

  1. On the PC’s usual Wi‑Fi connection, run a TRAI MySpeed test from the same spot where YouTube buffers. Record the time and the upload speed, latency, jitter and packet-loss results.
  2. Repeat at several times, including a period when the bhajan stream usually buffers and a period when it plays normally. Use continuous or scheduled testing where available.
  3. Repeat from a position nearer the router, keeping other conditions as similar as practical. Compare all four recorded network measures, not only the headline speed.
  4. If you can, connect the PC temporarily to the router with Ethernet and repeat. YouTube recommends Ethernet for computer live streaming; here, the wired result is a diagnostic comparison that can help isolate Wi‑Fi from other connection issues.
  5. Keep a time-stamped record. If results repeatedly deteriorate during the problem period, share the record with your broadband provider and compare it with the typical speeds stated for your plan.

How to interpret the results

Compare like with like: the same PC, test location and measurement method, across problem and non-problem times. Also compare the usual spot with the nearer-router position and, if feasible, Wi‑Fi with Ethernet. If performance improves nearer the router or over Ethernet, the Wi‑Fi link may be contributing; if it remains poor on both, the issue may lie elsewhere. These comparisons suggest where to investigate, but they do not prove a cause.

There is no universal pass/fail number for a home viewer’s Wi‑Fi in the available official guidance. TRAI states, “TRAI does not prescribe any minimum download or upload speed.” Use the typical speed your ISP declares for your plan as context, while remembering that measured performance can vary with time and location. Do not judge stability from download speed alone.

If you are watching someone else’s bhajan stream

Upload speed is not a viewer playback threshold. YouTube’s playback guidance points to network congestion and broadcast delay as possible factors, and recommends trying another network and reducing Wi‑Fi interference. Work through these checks while the issue is happening:

  • Try another network, such as a mobile hotspot, if available. If playback improves, that is a useful comparison, not a definitive diagnosis.
  • Move the PC closer to the router or reduce obstacles and sources of interference between them.
  • Check the playback quality setting and try a lower quality if the stream stalls.
  • Compare another supported browser or device to see whether the symptom is limited to the PC or browser.
  • Note whether other devices or internet activities are using the connection during the buffering period; congestion can affect playback.

For more playback guidance, see YouTube’s video playback troubleshooting. A wired comparison can also help you assess whether the PC’s Wi‑Fi link is involved, but it is not a guaranteed fix for viewer-side buffering.

If you are broadcasting your own bhajan stream

For a stream sent from your PC, YouTube recommends that available upload bandwidth support the total stream bitrate and that you leave 20% headroom. This is creator-side guidance, not a requirement for watching a channel. Test the actual computer, network and streaming setup before going live; a speed-test result alone cannot confirm a real stream will remain healthy.

  1. Run the repeated tests above on the connection you will use to broadcast, especially during the time you plan to go live.
  2. In YouTube Live Control Room, check stream health and any reported errors while testing and while live. Use those diagnostics alongside your time-stamped network results.
  3. Compare the total stream bitrate with the connection’s observed upload performance, allowing the recommended headroom rather than planning to use all available upload capacity.
  4. If Wi‑Fi results vary, test with Ethernet where practical and compare stream health. Change one condition at a time so you can tell which change corresponds with improvement.

YouTube’s streaming tips discuss connectivity and setup. YouTube also notes that inbound bandwidth (download speed) is often greater than outbound (upload speed), which is why a strong download result does not establish that a PC can reliably send a live stream.

When to contact your broadband provider

Contact the ISP if repeated, time-stamped tests show a persistent or recurring problem, particularly if results are poor on Ethernet as well as Wi‑Fi. Include the times, test location, connection type and measured upload, latency, jitter and packet loss. Ask the provider how those observations compare with the typical speeds stated for your plan. TRAI does not set a minimum broadband upload or download speed, so an ISP’s declared plan information is the relevant comparison rather than a universal TRAI threshold.
