Cloud-hosted streaming is the relevant route for prerecorded programming. An in-camera app is for a camera-originated feed, not a substitute for a prerecorded-video playlist. YouTube’s directory identifies these options but is not an independent test of their reliability.
What you need before going live
Your channel must be verified and must have no live-streaming restrictions in the prior 90 days. YouTube says enabling a first live stream can take up to 24 hours. Its general live-streaming guidance also sets a minimum age of 16.
For an encoder workflow, YouTube provides a stream URL and stream key to connect the encoder or service to your broadcast. Treat the stream key like a password: do not publish it or share it with people who should not control your stream.

Set up a prerecorded stream
- Verify your YouTube channel and confirm that it has no live-streaming restrictions in the prior 90 days. If this is your first stream, allow up to 24 hours for activation.
- In YouTube Studio, select Create, then Go Live. Create a stream or schedule one in Live Control Room.
- Choose a cloud-hosted service that supports your needs. YouTube lists Gyre for 24/7 streaming of prerecorded videos without a dedicated PC. Check the provider’s current plans, limits, and instructions before uploading content.
- Copy the YouTube stream URL and stream key into the service’s stream settings. Keep the key private.
- Start sending the stream from the service. For a scheduled stream, wait for the preview in Live Control Room and then select Go live.
- Check stream health in Live Control Room and confirm that the public watch page is working. Do not assume the service guarantees uninterrupted delivery; verify its current outage and recovery details.
Set up a live camera feed
If your source is a live camera image rather than prerecorded videos, YouTube lists CamStreamer’s in-camera app for continuous and scheduled streams using Axis cameras. Check the exact camera model’s compatibility and the app’s current requirements before relying on this setup; YouTube’s directory does not name compatible models.
Plan for replays and archives
YouTube says all streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. The reviewed guidance does not promise that a stream lasting longer than 12 hours will be archived. If you need a replay, check YouTube’s current archive behavior and consider dividing programming into shorter scheduled streams.

How long can I stream and still get an automatic archive?
YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. Its reviewed guidance does not confirm automatic archiving for streams longer than 12 hours, so check current guidance and plan shorter scheduled streams if you need a replay.
Does YouTube guarantee a cloud service will stay online?
