On October 3, 2026, the Governor Newsom Press Office account drew a comparison between Laura Loomer’s reported presence on Air Force One and questions about Hasan Piker on Sunday political shows. The Nerd Stash reported that critics saw the comparison as either a pointed challenge about unequal scrutiny or a deflection from scrutiny of Piker. The exchange does not, by itself, establish that a double standard existed.
What Newsom’s press office said
According to The Nerd Stash’s October 3, 2026 report, the California governor’s press-office account quote-posted a photo Laura Loomer had shared from Air Force One. The account referred to the person who calls Black women “dogs” and “animals” being on the plane, then contrasted that with national media asking Democrats about Hasan Piker on Sunday shows. The report says the account did not name Loomer directly in its text.
The article’s headline phrase, “you don’t need to make excuses,” captures the criticism described in the report. The underlying posts and replies were not independently verified for this account, so the wording and sequence here are attributed to The Nerd Stash.

The Nerd Stash says Loomer’s caption identified the setting as Air Force One and referred to Donald Trump as “45-47” and “My favorite President.” The report cautions that the photo itself did not make the aircraft’s destination clear. It should not be treated as evidence of a particular route or trip.
#1 Best Overall
The office’s comparison joined two different kinds of scrutiny: Loomer’s reported access or association with Trump, and media questions directed at Democrats about Piker. Those are not equivalent measures. A photo can prompt questions about access; an interview question can show that a subject was raised with a politician. Neither alone demonstrates how consistently people in comparable situations are treated.
Why critics rejected the comparison
The replies described by The Nerd Stash reflected competing readings rather than a single settled reaction:
- Double-standard argument: Some replies took the juxtaposition to mean that Democrats face questions about Piker while Loomer can be around Trump without comparable scrutiny.
- Deflection argument: Other replies said Piker should be criticized too, or viewed the comparison as a way to divert attention from him.
- Criticism of the framing: The article also cites replies characterizing the comparison as linguistic gymnastics or election-cycle politics.
These are selected examples from replies, not polling or a representative measure of public opinion. They show what some participants argued, not which interpretation was more widely held.

The Nerd Stash links the California account’s characterization of Loomer to posts it says she made in late August about Florida Senate nominee Angie Nixon and other Black women in politics. The article describes language about barking and a leash. Because the original posts and their full context were not independently checked here, that description should remain attributed to the report rather than expanded into a direct quotation or broader claim.

What can—and cannot—be concluded
The reported exchange establishes that the governor’s press-office account used Loomer’s presence on a plane she captioned as Air Force One to contrast with Sunday-show questions about Piker. It also establishes that replies argued over whether this pointed to unequal scrutiny or deflected from Piker. It does not settle the fairness of that comparison, prove a double standard, establish the flight’s destination, or show how representative the reactions were.
