Often, yes. First check Samsung Gallery’s Trash or Recycle bin, then Google Photos Trash and any OneDrive copy that had already synced. Recovery depends on whether the photo is still in a bin or exists in a backup; there is no guaranteed route if it has been permanently deleted everywhere.
1. Restore the photo from Samsung Gallery

Open Gallery, tap the Menu icon (three horizontal lines), then choose Trash or Recycle bin. Samsung’s menu labels and screens can vary by device and software version. Samsung’s instructions describe selecting items and tapping Restore; some versions show Edit first.

Select the photo and tap Restore (or Restore All if you intend to restore every selected item). Samsung Canada says deleted items remain in Gallery’s bin for 30 days before automatic permanent deletion.

If the photo is not there, check My Files > Recycle bin. Samsung says this view can manage deleted items from Gallery and other Samsung apps. The exact options may vary by model and software version. Samsung Canada support

2. Check Google Photos and the account used for backup
Google Photos has a separate Trash from Samsung Gallery’s bin. Open Google Photos and look under Library > Trash, select the photo, and tap Restore. Samsung India’s guidance says items are permanently deleted after 60 days in Google Photos Trash. Samsung India support
If you do not see the photo, check which Google account is signed in. A photo backed up under a different account may appear to be missing when you view another account. Also, a cloud route only helps if the photo was actually backed up there.

3. Look for a previously synced OneDrive copy
Samsung Gallery Sync with OneDrive ended on September 30, 2026. Photos synced before the service ended remain in the user’s OneDrive account, but new photos no longer sync through this Gallery integration. If you previously used Gallery Sync, check OneDrive’s Gallery tab or the location where the photo was stored and download any surviving copy. Samsung US support
If the photo was deleted from OneDrive, open the OneDrive app, tap your profile icon, choose Recycle bin, tap the three dots beside the photo, and select Restore. Samsung’s support article says deleted photos and videos remain in OneDrive’s Recycle bin for 93 days. This is OneDrive’s retention period, separate from the Samsung Gallery bin.

Which recovery route should you try?

These are service-specific periods reported by Samsung support, not one shared retention clock. The available route depends on where a copy lived, whether backup or sync actually happened, which account you are using, how long ago the photo was deleted, and whether the relevant bin was emptied.
If the photo is missing from every bin
Confirm that you checked the right Samsung, Google, and OneDrive accounts and that the photo had been backed up or synced. If the item is permanently deleted from the relevant bin and no backup copy exists, Samsung’s cited guidance does not establish a guaranteed recovery method. Avoid assuming that a recovery app or a service can retrieve a permanently deleted photo; the documented options here are existing Trash items and surviving cloud copies.

Preventing the next loss
Review which account, if any, is backing up your photos, and periodically confirm that backed-up images are visible in that account. Do not rely on Samsung Gallery Sync with OneDrive for future photos: Samsung says that integration ended September 30, 2026.
