Yamaha announced the R200A on October 1, 2026, as a two-channel stereo receiver replacing the R-S202. Its U.S. MSRP is $299.95, with availability announced for November 2026. The R200A adds Bluetooth 5.3 Multipoint, a phono input, AM/FM radio, A/B speaker selection and a subwoofer output; Yamaha also describes changes to the receiver’s internal construction. The published material does not establish that those changes produce better sound than the R-S202 in independent testing.
What the Yamaha R200A is
The R200A is a conventional two-channel stereo receiver, not a network streamer or multichannel home-theater receiver. Yamaha says it replaces the R-S202. The company’s product overview describes connections for a turntable, CD player and headphones, with Bluetooth for wireless music playback.
Yamaha’s U.S. specifications list a USB port for firmware updates only. They do not list USB music playback or built-in Wi-Fi or network streaming.

Inputs, speaker connections and Bluetooth
Wired sources and headphones
The single MM phono input is intended for a compatible moving-magnet turntable. Three analog RCA inputs provide connections for other line-level sources, such as a CD player. A headphone output is also listed. Yamaha’s overview identifies these kinds of connections but does not establish compatibility with every turntable or accessory.
Speakers and subwoofer
Yamaha lists A/B speaker support and describes use with up to two pairs of speakers, allowing selection between speaker sets. The receiver also has a dedicated subwoofer output. The listed two-channel configuration remains stereo; the subwoofer connection does not make it a multichannel receiver.

Those are Yamaha’s descriptions of the design and its intended effects. The announcement does not provide independent listening tests or measurements comparing the R200A with the R-S202, so it does not establish an audible improvement over that predecessor.

What to compare before choosing a stereo receiver
When comparing the R200A with another model, match the conditions behind the power ratings rather than comparing wattage figures in isolation. Also check whether the other receiver has the particular connections and functions your setup needs:
