The Xiaomi Redmi Pad 2 9.7 is a compact, budget-oriented Android tablet whose clearest draw is a 9.7-inch, 2048 × 1280 display that can run at up to 120 Hz. Its Snapdragon 6s 4G Gen 2 is suited to everyday browsing and video, not demanding multitasking or gaming. The optional Redmi Stylus For Pad is basic touch input: it lacks a digitizer, palm rejection, and pressure sensitivity, so it is not a full-featured note-taking or drawing pen.
What the Redmi Pad 2 9.7 is—and what it is not
This review concerns the distinct 9.7-inch model, not the standard 11-inch Redmi Pad 2. Xiaomi’s Singapore specifications describe a 4G configuration with a smaller screen and a refresh rate of up to 120 Hz; Xiaomi’s 11-inch model has different specifications, including a 90 Hz screen. The two should not be treated as the same tablet in different sizes.
The 9.7-inch version makes sense as a more portable tablet for everyday tasks. Its high refresh rate may make supported apps and games look smoother, but it does not turn the entry-level hardware into a performance-focused device. Notebookcheck’s review, published September 26, 2026, identifies heavier multitasking and gaming as weak points.

Is the 120 Hz screen actually 2K?
Xiaomi lists a 9.7-inch, 16:10 LCD with a resolution of 2048 × 1280 pixels and a refresh rate adjustable up to 120 Hz for supported apps and games. “2K” is a shorthand used in Xiaomi’s product description; the pixel dimensions are the more precise way to describe the panel. Touch sampling is listed at up to 180 Hz.

Xiaomi claims 500 nits typical brightness and up to 600 nits in outdoor mode. Notebookcheck measured an average of 416 cd/m² and a maximum of 436 cd/m² on its review unit, so its results were below those ratings. The reviewer said brightness control did not use PWM, but also reported screen flicker detected by an oscilloscope; that finding does not support a blanket claim that the screen never flickers.
How fast is the Snapdragon 6s 4G Gen 2?
The official Singapore 4G specification lists a 6 nm Snapdragon 6s 4G Gen 2, an eight-core CPU, Adreno 610 graphics, and 4GB of LPDDR4X RAM. Notebookcheck judged performance a weak point, particularly under heavier loads. Expect a budget tablet experience rather than strong headroom for demanding games or keeping many intensive apps active at once. The Snapdragon branding alone is not a reason to buy it for those workloads.

The Singapore page lists 64GB or 128GB of UFS 2.2 storage, with microSD expansion. Actual capacity available to use will be lower than the advertised storage because the operating system and preinstalled software occupy space.

Does the Redmi Pad 2 9.7 support a stylus?
Xiaomi offers an optional Redmi Stylus For Pad, but Notebookcheck reports that this tablet has no digitizer. The stylus therefore lacks palm rejection and pressure sensitivity. It can serve for basic touch input, but it is a poor fit if you need reliable handwriting, pressure-controlled drawing, or the ability to rest your hand on the screen while writing.

Does the 9.7-inch model have 4G?
The 4G configuration listed by Xiaomi Singapore supports dual SIM dual 4G, as well as Wi-Fi 5 capability, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, and listed satellite navigation systems. Mobile connectivity depends on the exact regional model, supported LTE bands, and local carrier deployment. Confirm those details for your country and carrier before buying; the name of the chipset does not establish compatibility with every network.
Do not assume that every retail listing for a Redmi Pad 2 9.7 has cellular connectivity. Check the model and connectivity configuration on the listing itself.

Battery life and charging
Xiaomi specifies a 7600mAh typical battery and charging up to 18W; the checked Singapore specifications say the included adapter is 15W. Notebookcheck recorded 16 hours 25 minutes in its Wi-Fi web-browsing battery test and about 1.5 hours to charge the review unit fully. The runtime is one test result under a particular browsing protocol, not a promise for gaming, video playback, cellular use, or every user’s settings.

Xiaomi’s Singapore specifications list an 8MP rear camera and a 5MP front camera, with video recording up to 1080p at 30 frames per second. The checked page lists Xiaomi HyperOS 3; features and services can vary by software version and model.

Box contents are not consistent across the available evidence. Xiaomi Singapore lists a tablet, adapter, USB Type-C cable, SD card eject tool, quick-start guide, and warranty card. Notebookcheck said its received package was minimal and did not include a charger or protective case. Check the contents of the exact regional SKU rather than assuming either package description applies everywhere.
Xiaomi Japan’s April 28, 2026 launch announcement listed the dedicated REDMI Pad 2 9.7 cover as a separately sold accessory. Confirm that any cover or microSD card you consider is compatible with the 9.7-inch model and sold in your market.
Price and buying advice
Xiaomi Japan’s April 2026 launch announcement gave suggested prices of ¥24,980 for the 4GB/64GB configuration and ¥31,980 for 4GB/128GB. These are dated Japanese launch prices, not current prices or a guide to pricing elsewhere. Local availability, storage options, accessories, and package contents can differ, so compare the exact regional SKU and current local listing.
