The XGIMI Aura 2 is a 4K ultra-short-throw (UST) laser projector that can make a 90- to 150-inch image from close to the wall. Its motorized lens cover and built-in speakers make it a comparatively self-contained setup, while its short throw ratio can suit a living room where a conventional projector would be impractical. The key buying detail is that XGIMI lists two different Aura 2 generations: this review focuses on the original WM03B, not the newer WM18P.
Which XGIMI Aura 2 is this review about?
XGIMI’s product listings distinguish the original Aura 2 (model WM03B) from the Aura 2 (New) (model WM18P). They are not identical configurations. The independent hands-on impressions discussed below are for the original model; do not assume they describe the newer version.
| Specification | Original Aura 2 (WM03B) | Aura 2 (New) (WM18P) |
|---|---|---|
| Smart TV platform | Android TV 11 | Google TV |
| Processor | Cortex-A55 | Cortex-A73 |
| RAM | 2 GB | 4 GB |
| Storage | 32 GB | 32 GB |
| Resolution, throw ratio, and image range | 3840 × 2160; 0.177:1; 90–150 inches | 3840 × 2160; 0.177:1; 90–150 inches |
| Official US price cited here | Not stated for the original model on the cited listing | $1,699 displayed on the official US page on the research date; price may change |
These are manufacturer-listed specifications, not the result of a side-by-side test. For the original model, see XGIMI’s Aura 2 (WM03B) page. For the newer version, check XGIMI’s Aura 2 (New) (WM18P) page and confirm that the product name and model match the unit being sold.

How close to the wall can the Aura 2 sit?
XGIMI lists a 0.177:1 throw ratio for both generations, with a supported image-size range of 90 to 150 inches. That very short ratio is what lets an ultra-short-throw projector sit near the projection surface rather than across the room. The exact distance depends on the desired image size and the room’s layout, so measure the intended screen area and furniture clearance before buying; the product pages do not establish one universal wall-distance figure for every size.

The original model has a motorized lid that covers its lens, according to Android Central’s review. XGIMI also describes automatic focus, keystone correction, screen-alignment assistance, and adaptation to wall color and flatness. Those features can assist setup, but they do not make placement irrelevant: keep the projector level, allow space for the image, and use a suitably flat projection surface.
Does the Aura 2 need an ALR screen?
No particular screen is established as required or tested for the Aura 2 in the cited evidence. An ultra-short-throw-compatible ambient-light-rejecting (ALR) screen is an optional consideration if the room has significant ambient light and you want to improve perceived picture visibility. A plain wall may be a workable starting point in a controlled, dim room, but wall texture, color, and flatness affect the result. Choose based on room lighting and the image size you can accommodate, rather than treating an ALR screen as a guaranteed performance fix.

What is picture quality like?
XGIMI specifies 3840 × 2160 resolution and advertises 2,300 ISO lumens. The brightness figure is the manufacturer’s specification; XGIMI says its parameters are measured in an internal test environment and that actual results can vary. It is not an independent brightness measurement.
In its review of the original WM03B, Android Central described vibrant colors, good contrast, and satisfying HDR viewing, including with a 100-inch image. Those are the reviewer’s viewing impressions, not instrumented contrast or brightness results. Room light, screen or wall characteristics, and image size all matter to what you see.

Can you game on the XGIMI Aura 2?
XGIMI advertises input latency as low as 20 ms when AK is off. Treat this as a qualified manufacturer claim, not an independently measured result. Android Central reports that game mode disables keystone correction, so you may need to position the projector manually to get a suitable image shape. If you expect to switch between gaming and streaming, consider whether that setup tradeoff fits your room and routine.

Android Central reports that the original WM03B has Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2, plus two HDMI inputs, one HDMI eARC connection, three USB-A ports, Ethernet, optical audio output, and a 3.5 mm output. Check the specific model’s listing before relying on a port or wireless feature, particularly if you are considering the newer WM18P.

- Multi-angle Rotation: 120° Adjustable Angle. Easily switch your projected image from the wall to the ceiling.
The original model’s listed audio system comprises four 15 W Harman/Kardon speakers and Dolby Atmos support. Android Central found the speakers loud and suggested a soundbar as an upgrade. A soundbar is optional: the projector includes built-in audio, and HDMI eARC provides a connection route for compatible external audio equipment.

The original WM03B is worth considering if you want a large 4K image from a projector positioned near the wall, and you value a motorized lens cover and built-in audio. Its fit depends on having enough flat projection space, room conditions that suit the chosen surface, and tolerance for the setup adjustments UST placement can require.
Before ordering, verify the generation. The original’s Android TV 11 and 2 GB of RAM differ from the newer model’s Google TV and 4 GB of RAM. Android Central’s reviewer used a Shield TV Pro with the original model for a faster interface and broader feature set; that was a personal preference, not a required accessory, and should not be generalized to the newer Google TV model.
The official US page for the Aura 2 (New) displayed $1,699 on the date covered by the cited information. That price applies to that listing and can change; it should not be treated as the price of the original WM03B. Check the exact model and current price at purchase.
