If Xfinity Stream has no sound on your Samsung TV, first play something in another app and try another input. Sound elsewhere points to the Stream app; silence everywhere points to the TV’s audio output or connected equipment. Follow the matching checks below before reinstalling apps or changing hardware.
First, find out whether the problem is the app or the TV
- Test another app. Play a video in a different streaming app and check whether you hear audio.
- Test another input, if available. Try a connected device or live TV source. Note whether the TV speakers or an attached soundbar or receiver are selected as the active output.
- Choose the troubleshooting path. If other sources have sound, focus on Xfinity Stream and its compatibility. If all sources are silent, check the TV and audio equipment first.
This distinction matters: Xfinity’s general app guidance addresses app problems, while its no-sound-on-all-channels instructions are for Xfinity TV adapters and boxes—not the built-in Samsung Stream app. Xfinity’s audio guide should not be treated as a confirmed fix for the Samsung app.
If only Xfinity Stream has no sound
Restart and update the app
- Close Xfinity Stream, reopen it, and try the same program again.
- Check the TV’s app store for an available Xfinity Stream update. Xfinity recommends using the latest app version and restarting the device when troubleshooting app issues. See Xfinity’s app troubleshooting steps.
- If the problem continues, sign out of Xfinity Stream and sign back in.
Restart the Samsung TV fully
A normal power-off can leave a TV in standby. Samsung’s cold-boot instructions explain how to shut down and restart the TV; the method varies by model. Follow Samsung’s cold-boot guidance for your set.
Update or reinstall the app
Check for a Samsung TV software update, then try deleting and downloading Xfinity Stream again if the app is still faulty. Samsung includes software updates and app reinstallation in its app troubleshooting guidance. Resetting Smart Hub is a later, more disruptive step: consult your TV’s instructions before doing it. Samsung’s app troubleshooting guide provides model-dependent steps.

Check that your TV is still supported
Xfinity’s compatibility list includes Samsung TVs from 2020 through 2026 and qualifying 2018 and 2019 models. Not every set from a listed year necessarily qualifies. Xfinity says the app is no longer available on 2017 Samsung TVs. Check your exact model against Xfinity’s current device requirements, since supported models and software can change.
For certain 2018 TVs, Xfinity lists these firmware identifiers and thresholds: T-KTM2AKUC 1131.9, T-KTM2LAKUC 1131.9, T-KTSUAKUC, and T-KTSNAKUC 1131.9. Xfinity also says Stream app version 2.2.5 or later is required to access and watch 4K content on Samsung TVs; that is a 4K requirement, not a general audio fix. Its memory guidance—more than 2 GB of available memory for effective delivery of high video quality—does not establish a cause of missing sound.

If every app and input is silent
- Check that the TV is not muted and raise the volume.
- Look at the TV’s Sound Output setting and select the intended destination, such as TV speakers or your connected audio system. Menu wording varies by Samsung model and software.
- Check whether headphones are connected or whether a soundbar or receiver is on the correct input. Restart connected audio equipment and check its connections.
- Use the Samsung manual for model-specific settings if the output selection is unclear.
These checks are for TV-wide audio symptoms. Xfinity’s instructions involving a TV Box’s volume, box-to-TV connections, or a video-device remote apply to Xfinity adapters and boxes, not necessarily to the built-in Samsung app.

Note whether the sound is missing on one channel, one program, or across Xfinity Stream. Xfinity’s guidance about checking multiple TVs and SAP/MTS settings concerns TV service delivered through an adapter or box, so it is not a confirmed fix for the Samsung app. If the problem is limited to particular Stream content, contact Xfinity and describe exactly what is affected.

When to contact Xfinity or Samsung
- Contact Xfinity if other apps and inputs have sound but Stream does not, or if only particular Stream channels or programs are affected. The Xfinity app’s Services → Troubleshoot TV issues flow can guide service troubleshooting and may escalate to an agent. Find details about the Xfinity app.
- Contact Samsung if the TV is silent across apps and inputs, or its sound output settings or hardware appear to be at fault. Have the TV model and software details ready.
For an app-specific report, include the Samsung model and year, the Stream app version if available, the affected program or channel, and whether other apps have sound. The support pages do not identify one universal cause or a widespread Samsung Stream audio defect.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Consider another supported device only as a fallback
If the Samsung-hosted app remains unusable after you check eligibility and work through support, Xfinity lists Roku among its supported Stream platforms. A supported Roku streaming device may provide another way to run the app, but it will not fix silence across the TV, a faulty soundbar, or another TV-wide audio problem. Check Xfinity’s current device requirements before choosing a specific model.
