The closest official match for the “long-awaited sequel” in this headline is Wo Long 2: Wings of Ember, which is announced for day-one Xbox Game Pass availability. But the announced release window is early 2027, not October. The official announcements do not confirm that this is the game the headline intended.
What has been announced about Wo Long 2?
KOEI TECMO describes Wo Long 2: Wings of Ember as a sequel to Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty and a dark Three Kingdoms action RPG featuring evolved Chinese martial arts. Its premise follows a nameless champion across late Eastern Han battlefields against powerful enemies and fiends. KOEI TECMO America’s June 7, 2026 announcement introduces the game and its planned platforms.
Xbox Wire’s June 8, 2026 announcement says the sequel is in development, will be available day one via Xbox Game Pass, and is planned for early 2027. It also reports that the original Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty has surpassed 5 million players worldwide, a KOEI TECMO-reported player count—not copies sold.

No October release is established by the official announcements. Both give an early-2027 window, without a specific launch date. The Game Pass day-one announcement is real, but the “in October” timing in the supplied headline conflicts with the stated window.

Because the headline does not identify the game, it is not possible to confirm that Wo Long 2 is its intended subject. The official sources make it the closest match: they call it a sequel, confirm day-one Game Pass availability, and describe it as long-awaited in Xbox Wire’s announcement. They do not substantiate an October release.
