It adds vulnerability-to-update visibility in Intune; it is not a universal vulnerability inventory, a deployment tool, or proof that a device is compromised.
What the Windows Autopatch CVE report shows
The report connects Windows OS CVEs with the updates that address them, then indicates how many managed devices are missing the fixing update. Microsoft describes its scope as CVEs related to Windows OS. It covers Windows Autopatch-managed devices, not every endpoint or software product in an organization. Microsoft’s CVE report documentation lists these default fields:
- CVE name: The vulnerability identifier, linked to its page at the Microsoft Security Response Center.
- Release containing the fix: The Windows update release associated with remediation.
- CVE base score: The displayed base score for the vulnerability.
- Exploited or disclosed status: A yes/no indicator for whether the CVE was known to be publicly exploited or disclosed at the time of release.
- KB article(s): Links to the relevant update release notes.
- Devices Missing Update: The number of managed devices missing the update that fixes the CVE.
- Update publication date: When the associated update was published.
Administrators can open a device-level list for a selected CVE’s missing fix. That makes the report useful for identifying where an update gap exists and locating the affected managed devices. A missing-update count is not evidence that those devices were exploited or compromised.
Where to find the report
- Open the Microsoft Intune admin center.
- Go to Reports > Windows Autopatch > Windows quality updates > Reports > Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures (CVEs).
Microsoft says the report is available to all Windows Autopatch customers and that no special licensing is required. Access to reporting may still depend on the relevant Intune and Autopatch role permissions; see Microsoft’s Windows quality and feature update reports overview.

How to interpret freshness and missing data
Microsoft says the report data refreshes every two hours, based on information received from Windows Autopatch-managed devices. That is the report’s refresh cadence, not a guarantee that every device has supplied fresh information during each two-hour interval. Microsoft directs administrators to separate data-latency guidance, so the report should not be treated as real-time telemetry.
Windows update reporting also relies on Windows diagnostic data and proper data-collection configuration. Microsoft’s reporting overview specifies the Enable Windows diagnostic data collection setting at Required or higher to support Autopatch reporting. If expected devices or statuses are absent, check the tenant’s reporting configuration, device telemetry, and the applicable role permissions. What the report does—and does not—tell you
Use it to prioritize update follow-up
The CVE identifier, base score, time-qualified exploited/disclosed flag, fixing release, KB notes, and missing-device count give administrators a focused view for update triage. The device drill-down can help identify which managed devices need attention. Administrators still need to evaluate their environment and decide how to prioritize and deploy updates.
Do not treat it as a complete security inventory
The documented scope is Windows OS CVEs on Windows Autopatch-managed devices. It does not establish coverage of third-party software, other operating systems, unmanaged endpoints, or every organizational asset. If using another vulnerability-management system alongside it, compare scope, fleet coverage, remediation linkage, and data freshness rather than assuming the tools cover the same ground.

Do not infer security outcomes from the displayed fields
The exploited/disclosed indicator records what was known at the time of release; it is not a live assessment of current exploitation. A base score and an update gap do not independently determine exposure, successful remediation, or compromise. Microsoft’s product documentation describes reporting capabilities, not a particular organization’s data completeness, compliance, or security results.

The CVE report adds a practical link between Windows OS vulnerability identifiers, their fixing updates, and Autopatch-managed devices still missing those updates. Use it as an update-prioritization view, while accounting for its defined Windows-only fleet scope, device reporting latency, and the tenant’s reporting setup.
