Microsoft’s current Windows 11 version 26H1 issue list includes three entries that are still mitigated or partially resolved, plus several issues marked resolved. The problems apply only to specified hardware, services, or configurations—not to every PC running 26H1. Microsoft describes 26H1 as a release for select new devices; it is not a feature update offered through Windows Update to existing devices.
What Windows 11 version 26H1 is—and who gets it
Microsoft says 26H1 is optimized for select new devices built with next-generation silicon developed with device and silicon partners. It is not intended as a feature update for existing devices and will not be offered through Windows Update. Microsoft continues to recommend Windows 11 versions 25H2 and 24H2 for enterprise deployment. See Microsoft’s Windows 11 version 26H1 release-health page for the release description and current issue entries.
The issue statuses below reflect Microsoft’s pages last updated October 2, 2026. They can change, so consult the linked entries for the latest status and version-specific instructions.
Issues still listed as mitigated or partially resolved
Microsoft does not mark these entries fully resolved. Their scope is specific: match the symptoms and environment before applying any administrator guidance.

| Current status | Issue and affected environment | Origin and symptoms | Mitigation or fix |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mitigated; resolution ongoing | Black screen or desktop not loading after sign-in, primarily on some Azure Virtual Desktop hosts using FSLogix. Existing profiles may be more affected. | Users may see a black screen after sign-in, a session that does not load the desktop automatically, or Windows Explorer crashes. Microsoft’s entry associates the issue with an update; follow the exact version-specific details on its page. | Microsoft documents manually launching explorer.exe and a Known Issue Rollback route for managed systems. Follow the official entry’s instructions; Microsoft says work on a resolution continues. |
| Mitigated; future update planned | Some domain-joined devices with Credential Guard-protected machine accounts and an on-premises Active Directory secure channel. | After the September 8, 2026 security update or later updates, affected machine accounts may lose their secure trust with the domain. | Microsoft describes a temporary mitigation involving Machine Identity Isolation settings and repairing the secure channel. This is administrator-level guidance and is not a general fix for all domain-joined devices; use the official instructions. |
| Partially resolved | USB Audio Class 1.0 devices. | Some devices may fail to start or produce sound. The specific multichannel 8-channel or 3D-audio symptoms were addressed, but other symptoms remain under investigation. | The September 14, 2026 out-of-band update KB5129194 resolves the 8-channel or 3D-audio symptoms. Microsoft has not marked the full issue resolved. |
Microsoft’s detailed status and mitigation steps for these entries are on its 26H1 known issues and notifications page.
Issues Microsoft marks resolved
These issues have named resolving updates or remedies. “Resolved” describes the listed problem in the environments Microsoft identifies; it does not mean every device or application was affected.

| Issue and affected environment | Origin and symptoms | Resolution |
|---|---|---|
| Remote Desktop Services instability | After the September 8, 2026 security update KB5124012, some environments experienced Remote Desktop Services connection failures, sign-in problems, or hangs at “Please wait for the Remote Desktop Configuration.” Related management tools or Windows Update could also become unresponsive. Microsoft says Windows 365 and Azure Virtual Desktop were not affected. | Resolved by the September 14, 2026 out-of-band update KB5129194 and later updates. |
| Hyper-V Linux guest host-folder shares using Plan9 | After KB5124012, some HCS-managed virtual machines could start but fail to expose Windows host folders to Linux guests through Plan9. Microsoft names WSL and Claude Cowork among affected applications. Standard Hyper-V virtual machines not using Plan9 were not affected. | Resolved by KB5129194 and later updates. Administrators who applied the temporary Group Policy mitigation must re-enable the policy, install the out-of-band update, and restart. |
| Teams and new Outlook failing on some ARM devices | Following updates from August 11, 2026, Teams and new Outlook could fail to launch or close unexpectedly on some ARM PCs, especially new or freshly imaged devices that had not installed Microsoft Store updates. | Resolved by KB5124012, released September 8, 2026. Before that update, Microsoft’s workaround was to update the Auto Super Resolution Package through Microsoft Store. |
| False notifications that Microsoft Defender was off | After Defender update 4.18.26070.9, notifications could incorrectly report that Defender was disabled even though it remained active. | Resolved by Defender update 4.18.26080.4, released September 17, 2026. Microsoft recorded the issue as resolved on September 30, 2026. |
Microsoft’s resolved issues page for Windows 11 version 26H1 also records earlier items, including July 2026 WSUS synchronization degradation and June 2026 Emoji Panel GIF and Recycle Bin dialog issues. How to use the issue list
- Confirm the environment. Check whether the affected component or configuration in Microsoft’s entry matches your system—for example, FSLogix on an Azure Virtual Desktop host, a Credential Guard-protected domain machine account, a USB Audio Class 1.0 device, an ARM PC, or a Plan9 share.
- Match the update and symptoms. Compare the update identifier or date and the described behavior with the entry. An issue appearing in the list does not establish that it affects every 26H1 installation.
- Follow the status-specific guidance. For a mitigated or partially resolved issue, use Microsoft’s current instructions rather than treating a mitigation as a complete fix. For a resolved issue, check whether the named update is installed and whether the entry’s conditions apply.
- Recheck Microsoft’s pages. Issue status can change; the known-issues and resolved-issues pages reported an October 2, 2026 update when last checked.
