Verwijder Win32/Virut niet handmatig. Beperk eerst de kans op verspreiding, voer daarna een volledige scan uit met actuele antivirussoftware en laat die software de detecties afhandelen. Herstel beschadigde programma’s alleen uit een schone, vertrouwde bron. Deze route verkleint risico’s, maar garandeert niet dat elk bestand kan worden gerepareerd of dat één scan voldoende is.
Wat is Win32/Virut?
Win32/Virut is een bestandsinfecterend virus. Microsoft beschrijft dat de varianten Virut.V en Virut.X uitvoerbare bestanden, waaronder .EXE– en .SCR-bestanden, kunnen infecteren. Bij Virut.V kan de infectie bovendien een achterdeur openen via een IRC-server, waardoor een aanvaller aanvullende bestanden kan downloaden en uitvoeren. De precieze eigenschappen verschillen per variant; lees de detectienaam die je antivirussoftware toont niet automatisch als bewijs dat iedere variant hetzelfde doet. Microsofts beschrijving van Virus:Win32/Virut.V en die van Virus:Win32/Virut.X zijn bijgewerkt op 15 september 2017.
Stap 1: beperk verspreiding
Vermijd het openen of kopiëren van verdachte uitvoerbare bestanden. Microsoft meldt dat Virut bestanden kan infecteren wanneer ze worden geopend of gekopieerd; ook toegang via gedeelde mappen met schrijfrechten kan verspreiding naar andere computers mogelijk maken.

- Gebruik Explorer niet om verdachte programma’s te openen of te kopiëren.
- Als dat praktisch kan, beperk tijdelijk beschrijfbare gedeelde mappen en gemapte netwerkschijven vanaf de getroffen computer.
- Stel het aansluiten of gebruiken van andere computers op dezelfde beschrijfbare shares uit totdat de scan is uitgevoerd.
Deze maatregelen beperken blootstelling; ze verwijderen de infectie niet. Zie Microsofts uitleg over toegang tot geïnfecteerde bestanden en gedeelde mappen.

Stap 2: voer een volledige scan uit met actuele antivirussoftware
Microsoft raadt handmatige verwijdering van Virus:Win32/Virut.V af. Het advies is een volledige systeemscan met een bijgewerkt antivirusproduct, bijvoorbeeld Microsoft Safety Scanner. Ga voor de actuele download en instructies naar de officiële Microsoft-dreigingsbeschrijving; gebruik geen oude downloadlink die je elders vindt.
- Open de Microsoft-pagina en volg de daar vermelde actuele aanwijzingen voor Microsoft Safety Scanner, of gebruik een ander actueel antivirusproduct.
- Werk het antivirusproduct bij voordat je scant, als de software dat toestaat.
- Kies een volledige systeemscan en laat de software alle gevonden detecties afhandelen volgens de aangeboden opties.
Microsofts richtlijn zegt niet dat één scan in alle gevallen voldoende is. Als de scan niet kan worden voltooid, de antivirussoftware niet kan worden bijgewerkt of detecties terugkeren, behandel de computer dan niet als schoon; vraag gespecialiseerde ondersteuning. Microsofts pagina’s geven geen universele procedure voor die escalatie.

Stap 3: controleer detecties en herstel beschadigde bestanden voorzichtig
Controleer na de scan het resultaat en de status van gedetecteerde bestanden in je antivirussoftware. Probeer geïnfecteerde uitvoerbare bestanden niet zelf te repareren of terug te zetten. Microsoft waarschuwt bij Virus:Win32/Virut.AH dat de infectiemethode sommige bestanden onherstelbaar kan beschadigen. Een verwijderde of beschadigde applicatie kun je zo nodig opnieuw installeren vanaf de officiële, vertrouwde bron van de maker; dat is een praktische herstelmaatregel, geen garantie dat persoonlijke bestanden behouden blijven. Wanneer is extra hulp nodig?
Schakel deskundige hulp in als detecties na opschoning opnieuw verschijnen, als beveiligingssoftware niet kan worden bijgewerkt of als de computer toegang heeft tot belangrijke systemen of gedeelde bestanden. De Microsoft-beschrijvingen adviseren een volledige scan, maar schrijven geen herinstallatie voor ieder geval voor en bieden geen universele herstelroute. Laat de ernst van de terugkerende detecties en de rol van de computer meewegen bij de keuze voor verdere ondersteuning.
