Your iPhone app will run on iPhone Duo, but how much of the display it uses—and whether its layout holds together—depends largely on the SDK used to build it and how the app responds to changing space. Apps built with iOS 26 SDK or earlier appear in a familiar-size window when the device is open; iOS 27 builds use most of the inner display; and iOS 27.1 or later builds can use the full display. Apple’s guidance points to layout adaptation and testing, not a universal upgrade price.
What iPhone Duo does to existing apps
Apple says all apps run on iPhone Duo. The display experience changes by SDK build level, so an app launching successfully does not necessarily mean it uses the available space well.
| App build | When iPhone Duo is open | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| iOS 26 SDK or earlier | Appears centered at a familiar size, with surrounding empty space. | On the closed display, content sits to the left of the status bar and camera. |
| iOS 27 SDK | Resizes to fill most of the inner display, while avoiding the status bar area at the right edge. | Check that content fits the larger area without clipping or awkward spacing. |
| iOS 27.1 SDK or later | Can extend across the full display; toolbars and tab bars are positioned vertically below the status bar. | Verify that content and navigation still work with vertical bars. |
These behaviors are described in Apple’s iPhone Duo preparation guide. The newer SDKs provide more display area, but an app still needs layouts that adapt to it.

The main risk is not that an app cannot launch; it is that layout decisions based on an assumed screen shape stop matching the space the app actually receives. Apple warns that hardcoded screen sizes, fixed orientations, and device assumptions can produce stretched, clipped, or misplaced content.

- 【Strong Adsorption】The inspiration of the silicone phone suction case comes from the adhesive force of the octopus. Each suction cup phone mount is 3.15 inches long and 2.17 inches wide, with 24 independent suction cups providing a stronger and more stable suction force, so you don't have to worry about your phone falling during use.
- 【Back of Phone Suction Grip】Remove the adhesive film on the phone suction cup and stick it on the phone case. You can then fix the phone on any smooth surface, which is very convenient. (The phone suction cup cannot be removed and reused after being attached to the phone case. It is recommended to attach it to a regular phone case, not a valuable one.)
- 【Widely Used】Our non-slip silicone phone sticky grip mount attaches to almost any flat phone case and make it compatible with common mobile phones such as iPhone and Android. You can shoot, watch videos or video calls in the kitchen, gym, dance studio, bathroom and other places.
- 【Capture the Wonderful Picture】Whether you are a TikTok creator or just like to share videos and photos, this phone suction cup can help you hands-free capture wonderful videos and photos for sharing with friends.
- 【Note】You can fix the phone suction cup on a smooth surface such as a mirror or glass. If necessary, wipe the suction cup with a damp cloth to obtain stronger suction. Before releasing your hand, make sure the phone is firmly fixed. (Not applicable to rough walls, wooden surfaces, and other uneven surfaces)
Fixed screen dimensions
Search for UIScreen.main and checks against fixed width or height values. Base layout on the current view or window bounds instead. In SwiftUI, Apple points to GeometryReader and onGeometryChange as ways to respond to available geometry.
Orientation-based layout decisions
Device orientation is not a reliable proxy for the shape of the area available to an app. Compare the actual width and height of the view or geometry and choose a layout for those dimensions.

- SUPERIOR COMFORT — Unlike traditional circular ear buds, the design of EarPods is defined by the geometry of the ear. Which makes them more comfortable for more people than any other ear bud–style headphones.
- HIGH-QUALITY AUDIO — The speakers inside EarPods have been engineered to maximize sound output and minimize sound loss, which means you get high-quality audio.
- BUILT-IN REMOTE — EarPods with USB-C plug also include a built-in remote that lets you adjust the volume, control the playback of music and video, and answer or end calls with a pinch of the cord.
- COMPATIBILITY — Works with all devices that have a USB-C port.
- INTEGRATED MICROPHONE — A built-in microphone precisely captures your voice while you’re on the phone, taking a FaceTime call, or summoning Siri — so you’re always heard loud and clear.
Assumptions about device type or size class
An iPhone app can receive combinations of size classes previously associated with iPad. Avoid using a device idiom or a single size class as a shortcut for deciding which layout to show; use the available space.

Safe areas and system UI
Safe areas and margins can be asymmetric. Standard system bars adapt to avoid system UI, but custom foreground and interactive content should respect safe areas. For custom edge-to-edge interfaces, Apple discusses ReservedRegion in SwiftUI and UIViewReservedRegion in UIKit.

How to test and fix an app
- Set up the current workflow. Recompile with Xcode 27.1 to use Apple’s iPhone Duo development workflow.
- Look for known resizability problems. Run Apple’s App Resizability skill, then inspect the relevant patterns manually; Apple says the skill may not catch every issue.
- Test more than the open pose. In the iPhone Duo simulator, exercise open, closed, rotated, and folded poses. Use Device Hub controls to change the simulated device state. Test extreme resizes with the resizable simulator or iPhone Mirroring, and exercise Split View.
- Make layouts respond to current space. Recalculate from view or window bounds when they change, and account for available dimensions, size classes, and safe areas rather than relying on launch-time measurements or orientation.
- Verify newer system-bar behavior. If building with iOS 27.1 or later, check vertical toolbars and tab bars, then prepare App Store screenshots and previews for the new display.
Apple’s preparation guide and iPhone Duo Tech Talk explain the layout and testing workflow, including simulator support in Xcode 27.1.
How much will an iPhone Duo update cost?
Apple publishes implementation and testing guidance, not a standard labor estimate or price for making an app ready. A cost figure needs an app-specific assessment of its layout architecture, existing behavior, and test coverage.

- [360 ° Flexible Rotation Design] Comes with a rotatable lanyard ring that supports 360 ° free rotation, effectively solving the problem of twisted and tangled lanyards
- [Wide compatibility] The ultra-thin 0.02-inch design does not block the charging port at all, and both wired and wireless charging can be used directly without removing the pad. Compatible with most smartphones such as iPhone, compatible with various wristbands, lanyards, crossbody straps, and keychains
- [Durable and Portable Material] Premium rust-resistant stainless steel material with good flexibility, which not only avoids scratching the phone case, but also has excellent anti rust and anti fading performance
- [Multi scenario Practical] Paired with a lanyard or wristband, hands-free use can be achieved. The phone is within reach and not easily dropped, ideal for daily commuting and outdoor activities. Suitable for full coverage phone cases, does not support half coverage phone cases
- [Quality Service] If you find any damage or other issues with the product upon receipt, please contact us immediately. We will handle it quickly
As a practical inference, an app already built around adaptive layouts may need mostly recompilation and verification. One that relies on fixed dimensions, orientation assumptions, or custom navigation and edge-to-edge UI may need more engineering and regression testing. That difference is why a single reliable price cannot be stated without inspecting the app.

How to judge an app’s readiness
Use these checks to assess a build or plan work:
- SDK and display fill: Which SDK built the app, and does it use the intended amount of the inner display?
- Resizing: Does the layout remain usable through fold, unfold, and resizing transitions?
- System UI: Do safe areas, margins, and vertical bars leave content and controls in the right place?
- Multitasking: Does the app remain usable in Split View?
- Product page: Do screenshots communicate the app’s behavior on the new display?
Apple has named Netflix, Zoom, Slack, and Detail as examples of apps using iPhone Duo’s displays in different ways. Apple describes Netflix browsing on the outer display and an immersive open-display experience, Zoom calls and shared content on the inner display, Slack’s workspace on the larger view, and Detail’s use of Core AI for content creation on the inner display. These are examples Apple cited, not confirmation that every version or feature of each app is optimized.
