Avengers: Secret Wars has not been officially confirmed as the last Avengers movie. Marvel’s official materials identify it as an upcoming Avengers film, but the sources located do not say the series will end with it—or confirm that another Avengers movie will follow.
What Marvel has confirmed about Secret Wars
Marvel’s June 13, 2023 schedule update moved Avengers: Secret Wars to May 7, 2027. Marvel’s announcement establishes the film as part of the Avengers series, but does not call it the final installment.
A 2025 announcement from The Walt Disney Company and D23 also lists Avengers: Secret Wars among upcoming films and gives it a May 7, 2027 release date. That is the latest official date found in the sources reviewed, not a guarantee the date remains current as of October 2026. Check Marvel or Disney’s official channels for an updated schedule before relying on it.
Does Doomsday confirm what comes after?
Disney’s official Avengers: Doomsday page lists a December 18, 2026 release date, placing it before Secret Wars in the announced schedule. The order of these two films does not establish whether Marvel plans another Avengers movie afterward.

The official materials located do not confirm a post-Secret Wars Avengers film, either. That means the future of the series is unannounced in these sources—not that Marvel has declared it over.
Why Endgame’s “grand conclusion” does not settle the question
Marvel describes Avengers: Endgame as a “grand conclusion to twenty-two films” on its official film page. That language refers to Endgame and the story arc it concluded. It is not a statement about the fate of the Avengers films after Secret Wars, which Marvel announced later.
Rank #2
Director Joe Russo similarly said of Endgame: “When we made that film, we were so specifically committed to that movie as an ending of stories, not a beginning of new stories.” Disney presented the remark in a discussion of Endgame; it should not be read as a claim that Secret Wars will end the Avengers movie series.

What the official record does—and does not—say
- Confirmed: Marvel has announced Secret Wars as an Avengers film. The latest official release date located is May 7, 2027, in a 2025 Disney/D23 announcement.
- Not confirmed in the sources reviewed: That Secret Wars is the final Avengers movie, or that another Avengers film is planned after it.
This is a description of what the official sources reviewed establish, not proof that no statement exists elsewhere. The Walt Disney Company reported that Marvel Studios had generated $35.075 billion in global box office across 38 films in 2026. That is franchise-wide context; it is neither a forecast for Secret Wars nor evidence that the Avengers series will continue or end with it. Disney’s 2026 report does not announce the future of the Avengers films.

Readers who want to explore the comics can look at Marvel’s hardcover omnibus collecting Jonathan Hickman’s Avengers (2012) #35–44, New Avengers (2013) #24–33, Secret Wars (2015) #1–9, and related material. Marvel’s catalog listing describes the collection; it is optional background reading, not a confirmed movie screenplay, novelization, or tie-in.
