The WiebeTech RTX 220H-QR is a two-bay, trayless RAID enclosure for 3.5-inch SATA hard drives, with RAID 0 or RAID 1 and a mix of eSATA, FireWire, and USB 2.0 connections. StorageReview’s September 30, 2011 review reported higher throughput in RAID 0 than RAID 1, but its figures came from a specific pair of hard drives and test connection; they are historical results, not a promise of performance on a current computer.

The model is also identified as RTX 220-QR, RTX220-QR, or RTX220-QR in catalog listings. Searching those names may help locate the same enclosure.

What the RTX 220H-QR is

StorageReview’s 2011 review describes a direct-attached enclosure with two bays for 3.5-inch SATA hard drives. It supports RAID 0 (striping) and RAID 1 (mirroring), letting the owner choose between combining the drives for throughput or keeping mirrored copies of data. RAID 1 is not a substitute for a separate backup: it does not protect against accidental deletion, theft, or damage affecting the enclosure and both drives.

The review uses the names RTX 220-QR and RTX220-QR in its body, while BWI’s catalog lists RTX220-QR. The title’s “RTX 220H-QR” wording is therefore not the only name to use when searching. [StorageReview review; BWI catalog]

The reviewer praised the enclosure’s durability and serviceability, while noting that it is heavy. Those are the reviewer’s assessments of the design, not evidence of independently measured impact resistance.

RAID 0 or RAID 1?

Mode How it handles two drives Best suited to Important trade-off
RAID 0 Spreads data across both drives Workloads where throughput is the priority No mirrored copy; failure of either drive can make the array’s data unavailable
RAID 1 Mirrors data between the drives Keeping a duplicate on the second drive Mirroring does not replace a separate backup

Choose based on whether throughput or a mirrored copy matters more for the intended use. Neither mode removes the need to check that important files are backed up elsewhere.

JEYI 4-Bay NVMe RAID Enclosure with Turbo Fan, Individual & RAID Modes
  • 【High Speed Transmission】Supports USB4/Thunderbolt 3/4, with a peak rate of 40Gbps. Equipped with ASM2464PDX high-performance controller, PCIe 4.0 x1 channel communication, ensuring smooth high-speed transmission in multiple scenarios without any stuttering.
  • 【Various Secure RAID Configurations】Mac system: Supports RAID 0, RAID 1, and JBOD;Windows system: Supports RAID 0, RAID 1, RAID 5, and JBOD.Important Note: To configure RAID, you must use USB4 or Thunderbolt interface. If you use a standard USB connection, the hard drive will be recognized as an individual volume and cannot be used to form a RAID.
  • 【High Efficiency Cooling】 All-aluminum casing + turbo fan + thermal pads, with a 40% increase in cooling efficiency. The buttons allow for three-click switching between on/off, low, medium, and high speed modes. The color of the lights visually distinguishes the speed, ensuring long-term stable operation of the device.
  • 【32TB Ultra-Large Capacity】Each single drive supports up to 8TB NVMe M.2 2280 SSD (compatible with M-Key/B&M Key), and the total capacity of 4 ssds can reach 32TB, meeting professional-grade large-capacity storage needs.
  • 【Important Compatibility Notice】System compatibility: Fully compatible with Intel and Apple systems;AMD system warning: Compatibility issues may occur on some AMD devices equipped with USB4/Thunderbolt interfaces. However, normal use is possible through the standard USB 3.2 port on the AMD device (only RAID configuration is not supported). It is recommended that AMD users verify their hardware compatibility before purchasing;

What the 2011 performance results show

StorageReview tested the enclosure with two 2TB Hitachi 7K2000 7200RPM hard drives, connected through an Intel 3.0Gb/s port on its test rig. It reported these results:

RAID mode Read Write
RAID 1 128.5 MB/s 111.1 MB/s
RAID 0 239.3 MB/s 207.9 MB/s

These are StorageReview’s results from that 2011 drive and connection setup, not current comparative testing or guaranteed speeds. Actual results depend on the drives, RAID mode, host connection, and computer. As review author Brian Beeler put it, “Performance levels of the RAID array depend entirely on the drives and interface being used.” [StorageReview’s test and review]

Will it connect to your computer?

The enclosure’s listed connections—eSATA, FireWire 800, FireWire 400, and USB 2.0—are legacy interfaces. Before buying or trying to use one, compare the ports on the specific computer with the enclosure’s connections and establish whether a suitable adapter is available. The available sources do not verify compatibility with current operating systems, computers, or adapters.

Availability and checks for a used unit

BWI’s catalog identifies model 35220-2530-0100 as an RTX220-QR two-bay, tray-free enclosure with RAID 0/1 and eSATA, FireWire, and USB 2 interfaces. Its enclosure listing and listed 2TB and 4TB configurations are shown as out of stock. That is the catalog’s displayed status, not proof that every seller or used marketplace is out of stock. Current prices, condition, warranty or support, and included accessories are not established by these sources. [BWI RTX220-QR catalog listing]

For a secondhand listing, verify the exact model marking and ask the seller to confirm:

  • Both drive bays, the LCD, and front controls operate.
  • Which cables and drives are included, and whether the drives are part of the sale.
  • The enclosure’s condition and the seller’s return terms.
  • That your computer can connect using the available ports or a confirmed adapter.

The review identifies 3.5-inch SATA hard drives as the supported drive category, but the available sources do not establish a maximum capacity or verify compatibility with a particular modern drive. Check compatibility for the exact enclosure and drive before relying on a replacement or upgrade.
