Wi-Fi 6E mesh can improve whole-home coverage and give compatible devices access to the 6 GHz band, but it is not a guaranteed internet-speed boost. Your results are limited by your internet plan, client devices, home layout, and the mesh kit you choose. The available product evidence supports four candidates—not five equally evaluated picks—so this guide compares those models without presenting them as a definitive performance ranking.
What Wi-Fi 6E mesh can—and cannot—upgrade
Wi-Fi 6E adds the 6 GHz band to Wi-Fi 6’s 2.4 and 5 GHz bands. To use 6 GHz, a device needs Wi-Fi 6E capability; older phones, laptops, and smart-home devices can still connect on supported older bands, but a Wi-Fi 6E mesh system does not make them 6E clients. NETGEAR identifies three prerequisites for 6 GHz: a Wi-Fi 6E router, mesh system, or access point; a Wi-Fi 6E client; and WPA3 enabled on the 6 GHz network. NETGEAR’s Wi-Fi 6E overview explains those requirements.
Mesh systems distribute access points around the home, which can help extend usable coverage beyond a single router’s location. That does not mean every device will receive a faster connection: internet speed cannot exceed the service plan, and radio conditions, client capability, placement, walls, and floors all affect results. Also, advertised AXE-class figures are aggregate wireless rates across bands, not the speed one client should expect from an internet speed test.
Four Wi-Fi 6E mesh models with source-backed details
These options have documented features, but the evidence is not a uniform head-to-head test. Consider them candidates to compare against your home’s needs, not a ranked list of measured winners.

| Model | Documented configuration and claims | What to verify |
|---|---|---|
| TP-Link Deco XE75 | Tri-band Wi-Fi 6E, AXE5400 aggregate wireless rate, and one-, two-, or three-unit pack variants. TP-Link claims up to 7,200 square feet for a three-pack, support for up to 200 devices, and three gigabit Ethernet ports per unit. TP-Link’s U.S. product page | These are manufacturer claims, not guaranteed coverage or speed. The cited summary lists gigabit rather than multi-gigabit ports; confirm the hardware revision and exact bundle available in your region. |
| eero Pro 6E | Tri-band 2×2 radios at 2.4, 5, and 6 GHz; two Ethernet ports; up to 1 Gbps wired speed; up to 2,000 square feet per device; and support for 75+ devices. eero’s product comparison | The coverage and device figures are vendor specifications, not a head-to-head result. eero says actual performance varies with regulations, configuration, interference, devices, building materials, and obstructions. |
| ASUS ZenWiFi ET8 | Wi-Fi 6E with support for 6 GHz, 5 GHz, or Ethernet backhaul, including manual backhaul selection. ASUS also lists AiProtection Pro and multiple VPN options. ASUS’s ZenWiFi ET8 technical page | 6E benefits require compatible clients. Features and SKUs may vary by region, so check the exact local model and current feature terms. |
| NETGEAR Orbi RBKE963 | NETGEAR regional product pages identify this as a Wi-Fi 6E Orbi system. NETGEAR’s RBKE963 page | The available specification detail is less complete and regional naming may differ. Confirm the exact model, pack contents, ports, and current availability before comparing it with the other kits. |
What the available performance test says about the Deco XE75
Tom’s Guide’s guide dated September 3, 2026 reports Deco XE75 test results of 1.22 Gbps at 15 feet, 299.1 Mbps at 50 feet, and 318.5 Mbps at 75 feet. The outlet identifies the model as its Wi-Fi 6E mesh recommendation based on its own review process. Read Tom’s Guide’s mesh Wi-Fi router guide for its testing context. These are controlled outlet measurements, not a promise for a different home, client, or internet plan. Comparable measurements for the other three models are not established here, so the figures should not be used to claim the Deco is faster than them.
How to choose a kit for your home
Start with 6 GHz compatibility
Check whether the phones, computers, and other devices you want to benefit from 6 GHz actually support Wi-Fi 6E. If the household has few or no 6E clients, the new band may provide little immediate value; mesh coverage or other features may still matter. Confirm WPA3 support and that it is enabled for the 6 GHz network.

- Unlock the Full Potential of WiFi 6 - Opening the 6 GHz band will change the game for WiFi 6. WiFi 6 brings about upgraded performance in network efficiency and capacity. Whereas the advantages of WiFi 6 are not fully realized while competing with transmissions from WiFi 5 (or other radios). The 6 GHz band is available only for WiFi 6 traffic, allowing WiFi 6 to meet its intended potential
Match the number of nodes to the layout
Compare the exact kit size, not just the model name. A vendor’s coverage estimate is not a guarantee: floors, dense walls, obstructions, interference, and access-point placement can change coverage. Place nodes where they can maintain a strong connection rather than assuming that adding a node automatically fixes a weak link.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Choose a backhaul that fits your wiring
Backhaul is the connection carrying traffic between mesh nodes. ASUS documents 6 GHz or 5 GHz wireless backhaul and Ethernet backhaul for the ET8, with manual selection available. If Ethernet runs already connect the intended node locations, wired backhaul is a relevant option; otherwise, the mesh relies on wireless links and placement becomes especially important. Check each system’s supported backhaul modes before buying.

Check Ethernet ports against your plan and devices
Count both the ports and their speed. The Deco XE75 listing specifies three gigabit Ethernet ports on each unit, while eero lists two ports and up to 1 Gbps wired speeds. A gigabit port can be a constraint for a faster-than-gigabit wired service or local connection, depending on the device and network path. Make sure the kit’s ports suit your wired clients and internet service.
Compare management and security on current terms
ASUS lists AiProtection Pro and VPN options for the ET8, but feature availability and terms can vary by SKU and region. Before choosing on the basis of security or administration tools, confirm what is included, whether any capability requires a subscription, and whether it is supported where you live.

Verify local price, bundle, and product revision
Prices, stock, bundle contents, and hardware revisions can change. Check the current local listing for the precise model and node count rather than relying on an old price or a similarly named regional SKU.
Is a Wi-Fi 6E mesh system worth it?
It is most compelling when you need better coverage across multiple areas and have Wi-Fi 6E clients that can use 6 GHz. If you mainly need coverage for older devices, the value depends more on mesh placement, node count, Ethernet needs, and the price of the kit than on the 6E label. Treat an upgrade as a way to improve the network within the limits of your plan and home—not as a way to multiply the speed your ISP provides.
