A free scan shows the junk files, broken settings and background clutter dragging Windows down - then fixes them in one click.Free scan · Windows 10 & 11Outdated Drivers Are Slowing You Down
One free scan finds every outdated or missing driver and matches the right update for your exact hardware.Free scan · exact hardware matchFirst identify which connection has failed: the radio link between the aircraft and its controller, or the wired connection between the controller and your phone. They are separate problems. A USB cable may stop the app from recognizing a controller, but it will not repair a failed aircraft-to-controller link.
Keep the drone on the ground while troubleshooting. Use the manufacturer’s instructions for the exact aircraft and controller models, and do not fly until their status indicators show the system is ready.
Identify which connection is failing
- The controller cannot operate the aircraft: troubleshoot aircraft-to-controller compatibility, linking mode, distance, and firmware.
- The controller operates the aircraft, but the app says the remote controller is disconnected from the phone: troubleshoot the phone, app, cable, port, or USB settings instead. DJI documents these as separate failures: DJI phone-to-controller connection guidance.
Before changing anything, note the aircraft model, controller model, mobile device, and app. Those details determine which pairing procedure and accessories apply.
If the aircraft will not link to its controller
Verify model compatibility
Do not assume controllers from the same manufacturer are interchangeable. DJI lists different supported aircraft for its RC-N1, RC-N2, and RC-N3 controllers. Its current compatibility guidance lists RC-N1 support for Mavic Air 2, Mini 2, Mini 2 SE, Air 2S, Mavic 3 series, Mini 3 Pro, and Mini 4K; the supported aircraft for RC-N2 and RC-N3 differ. Check the exact combination against DJI’s current controller compatibility and linking instructions and your model’s manual before repeating pairing attempts.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Use the correct linking procedure at close range
Power on both devices and follow the model-specific linking steps. For the DJI RC-N products covered by its support guidance, keep the controller within 50 cm of the aircraft during linking. DJI’s procedure may involve starting re-pairing in the app and holding the aircraft’s power button until it signals linking mode; exact steps vary by model. During linking, DJI says the aircraft status LEDs blink and the controller beeps.
If either device will not enter linking mode, the problem is not simply a matter of holding the controller closer. DJI recommends re-flashing firmware for specified linking-mode failures and sending the equipment for testing if the issue persists. See DJI’s failure-specific procedure.

Check firmware consistency
Inconsistent aircraft and controller firmware can prevent linking. Check the current release information for both exact models and align their firmware as the manufacturer directs. DJI’s update guidance says to keep the mobile device online during the cited update procedure and not power it off or exit DJI Fly while the update is underway: DJI firmware and connection guidance.
For Autel EVO II specifically, Autel describes both over-the-air and microSD firmware update methods, with component-version checks against its release information. These EVO II instructions should not be assumed to apply to every EVO model. Use Autel’s firmware instructions for the relevant product.

Try the other supported method, then seek service if needed
If both devices enter linking mode but still do not connect, try the other supported linking method for that model and recheck compatibility and firmware. For Autel EVO, follow the applicable model’s pairing instructions; if pairing and the relevant manual update steps do not resolve it, Autel directs users to contact support. Its FAQ is at Autel’s EVO FAQ.
Stop repeated attempts and contact the manufacturer when the equipment cannot enter linking mode, a port appears faulty, or the specified pairing and firmware steps fail. DJI recommends service in specified persistent cases; Autel likewise points users to support when its guidance does not solve the problem.

If the controller works but the phone or app does not connect
- Confirm the app and setup. Use the app specified for the exact aircraft and controller. Check the manufacturer’s device compatibility guidance.
- Check the physical cable connection. Remove a phone case if it prevents the plug from seating fully. Reseat the cable in the correct controller port and phone connector.
- Try another compatible data cable. Confirm the cable fits both devices and supports the connection needed; a charging-only cable may not work. A cable check is relevant to a wired phone-controller link, not aircraft-controller pairing.
- Review Android USB settings if applicable. DJI says “Charge only” works for most devices and “Transfer files” for some; it also mentions USB debugging when a device offers no prompt. Follow current instructions for your phone and controller before changing settings.
- Isolate the fault. If available, try another compatible mobile device or cable. If those also fail, or you see damage or a faulty port, contact the manufacturer for testing or repair.
DJI’s phone connection troubleshooting and Autel’s EVO FAQ provide setup-specific cable guidance. Check the exact phone connector, controller port, and product instructions rather than assuming one cable works across setups.
When to stop troubleshooting
- The aircraft and controller are confirmed compatible, but one cannot enter the manufacturer’s linking mode.
- The documented pairing and firmware steps fail repeatedly.
- A connector or port appears damaged, or alternate compatible cables and mobile devices do not resolve a phone-link problem.
At that point, manufacturer support or service is the appropriate next step. Do not attempt flight to test an uncertain connection.
