Check the fit and assembly first, then test the different included tip sizes and any model-specific wings or bands. If the earbuds still shift during your activity, a compatible stabilizer or a different design may work better.
Why earbuds loosen during exercise
- Placement matters: an earbud that is not fully seated or is rotated incorrectly can feel unstable. Samsung warns that improper wearing can make Galaxy Buds more likely to fall out: Samsung’s Galaxy Buds wearing guidance.
- Tips and stabilizers affect how the earbud sits: a tip that does not suit your ear may not feel secure. A wing or band that is too large can also prevent the earbud from seating fully, according to Soundcore’s guidance for its Liberty Buds 2: Soundcore’s ear-tip guidance.
- Fit is personal: even with the right technique, one earbud shape may not work for every ear. A fit that feels fine while sitting may shift once you move.
How to get a more secure fit

Check the parts and assembly
Make sure each earbud has the correct ear tip attached and, if the model includes one, that its wingtip or stabilizer is installed. Samsung’s instructions for Galaxy Buds and Buds+ specify attaching the ear tips and wingtips before use.

Reinsert the earbuds using the instructions for your model
Fit directions are model-specific. Samsung describes inserting Galaxy Buds with the wingtip upward and adjusting the rotation. Apple’s Beats guide instead directs users to insert and rotate downward to help create a secure fit and acoustic seal: Apple’s Beats fit guidance. Follow your exact model’s instructions rather than applying either angle to all earbuds.

Try the supplied tip sizes
Test the sizes included with your earbuds, changing one ear at a time if that makes it easier to judge. Your ears may need different sizes. Look for a fit that feels secure without discomfort; Bose’s model-specific QuietComfort Earbuds II guidance recommends trying another eartip size or stability band if the fit is uncomfortable or insecure: Bose fit guidance.

Position wings or bands as designed
Check that any stabilizer is attached and oriented correctly. It should help steady the earbud without making it painful or preventing it from sitting properly. Replacement wings, fins, and tips are model-specific: verify compatibility with your exact earbud model before buying. For example, JBL and Jabra describe fit enhancers for particular sport-earbud models; those accessories are not evidence of compatibility with other earbuds: JBL fit enhancer guidance and Jabra EarGel guidance.

Use a fit test as one check
Some models provide an app-based fit test. Samsung documents one for Galaxy Buds2 Pro and Buds2: Samsung’s Galaxy Buds fit-test instructions. Apple also describes an Ear Tip Fit Test for supported Beats earbuds in its Beats fit guidance. Treat a test as guidance about fit or seal, not a guarantee that the earbuds will stay comfortable and secure during every workout.

Keep the earbuds and ears clean and dry
Samsung recommends regular cleaning and periodically removing earbuds to dry the ears and prevent moisture buildup. Follow the cleaning instructions for your model.

Check retention with gentle movement
Before relying on the fit for a run or vigorous session, walk or make gentle head movements and notice whether either earbud shifts. This is a practical check, not a manufacturer-validated test protocol.

If they still fall out during your workout
If the earbuds feel loose immediately, revisit their seating, rotation, tip size, and stabilizer position. If they become loose only after you start moving, reassess the fit after movement and consider whether the design suits that activity. Do not assume sweat is the cause unless it is part of what you are experiencing.
If adjustments do not solve the problem, compare options by retention design, comfort for the length of your session, included tip sizes, fit-test support, and the manufacturer’s stated sweat or water rating for your intended activity. A plain in-ear tip, wing or fin, and ear hook are different design approaches; none guarantees a fit for every ear. Beats describes Powerbeats Fit as a workout earbud with flexible secure-fit wingtips and says it is sweat- and water-resistant for non-water sports and exercise. That is a manufacturer product claim, not an independent comparison: Beats Powerbeats Fit.

When to stop using them
If an earbud causes pain or skin irritation, stop using it rather than forcing a tighter tip or stabilizer. Samsung advises consulting a doctor if pain or irritation occurs: Samsung’s Galaxy Buds wearing guidance.
