If your Razer headphones won’t connect, first identify the exact headset model and connection method: Bluetooth, its 2.4 GHz/HyperSpeed USB receiver, or a cable. Razer headsets do not all use the same pairing steps, and some do not support Bluetooth at all. Check the model name or number on the headset, its box, or its Razer support page before following the steps below.
How to identify the right connection method
Decide how you want to connect the headset, then verify that the specific model supports that method. A headset may offer more than one option, but Bluetooth and a wireless USB receiver are different connection paths.
- Bluetooth: Pair through the host device’s Bluetooth settings. Use this only if the model supports Bluetooth.
- Wireless USB receiver: Connect the headset through its matching receiver. If it needs to be paired again, use a Razer pairing utility only if the exact model appears on Razer’s headset pairing utility support page.
- Wired: Follow the instructions for the headset’s actual cable and compatible port. A wired connection does not repair wireless pairing.
Model support pages can change, so check the one for your headset if its controls or included accessories do not match these instructions.
Why won’t my Razer headset pair over Bluetooth?
For models covered by Razer’s Bluetooth pairing instructions, hold the power button for five seconds, until the indicator blinks blue. Then open Bluetooth settings on your computer, console, phone, or other host, scan for devices, and select the headset to pair and connect. This sequence is not universal; confirm it applies to your model.

Check SmartSwitch mode
On supported headsets with SmartSwitch, double-pressing the SmartSwitch button toggles between HyperSpeed Wireless and Bluetooth. If the headset is set to HyperSpeed Wireless, it will not be available as a Bluetooth device until you switch modes. Razer documents this control for the BlackShark V2 Pro (2023), which supports 2.4 GHz wireless and Bluetooth 5.2. Those specifications and controls apply to that model, not every Razer headset.
Why won’t the USB wireless receiver connect?
- Plug the receiver into the host and turn on the headset. Check that the receiver is the one intended for that headset.
- Look up the exact model on Razer’s pairing utility support page. If the model is listed, download and run the corresponding utility and follow its on-screen instructions. Razer advises using the correct dongle for the headset.
- If the model is not listed, do not assume a utility for another headset or a generic USB receiver will work. Follow the model’s support instructions instead.
Pairing a Razer Nari family receiver
Razer provides separate pairing utilities for Nari, Nari Ultimate, and Nari Essential. For the applicable model, connect its dongle to the computer and connect the headset to the computer with its charging cable. Start pairing in the matching utility and wait for it to finish; close Synapse and other applications as directed in Razer’s Nari Pairing Utility instructions. For a replacement receiver, follow Razer’s model-specific Nari, Nari Essential, and Nari Ultimate replacement-dongle guidance rather than using another family’s utility.

What to do if the receiver is missing or faulty
First confirm the exact headset model and whether the original receiver is actually missing or not working. Razer’s documented replacement-dongle pairing guidance covers Nari, Nari Essential, and Nari Ultimate, each with its own named utility. It does not establish universal receiver compatibility across Razer headset families or confirm current retailer stock.
For Nari, check the headset’s designated receiver storage location, described on Razer’s Nari support page. That page also documents firmware-updater guidance for the RZ04-02680 Nari involving the receiver and charging cable. Treat those steps as specific to that model, not as a general receiver fix.

Check the cable, port, and wireless range
USB headset or receiver
Connect a USB headset directly to a USB port rather than through a hub, as Razer advises in its headset connection guidance. Seat the receiver firmly. If the receiver is USB-C but the host lacks USB-C, check the headset’s documentation for an included adapter; Razer’s Kaira Pro for PS5 instructions describe a USB-C-to-USB-A adapter, but that does not mean every headset includes one.
Analog cable
If the headset has a 3.5 mm connector, plug it directly into a compatible audio port. This advice applies only to models with that analog connection, and the cable does not restore a Bluetooth or receiver connection.

Intermittent disconnections
Check that the plug or receiver is fully seated, avoid a USB hub for a USB headset, and keep a wireless headset within its operating range. These are checks, not guaranteed fixes. Razer points users with continuing problems to separate troubleshooting for intermittent audio and no sound and for static, buzzing, or crackling.

If it still will not connect
- Recheck the exact model and connection method rather than repeating a pairing sequence intended for a different headset.
- For Bluetooth, verify that Bluetooth is supported and, on SmartSwitch models, select Bluetooth mode.
- For a receiver, verify that it belongs to the headset and that Razer lists the model for the utility you are using.
- For wired or USB connections, confirm the cable and port are compatible, connect directly where possible, and consult the model’s support page for the correct accessories or recovery procedure.
