PageCrawl.io screenshots can miss lazy-loaded images when the page has not been scrolled far enough to trigger them—or when the capture begins before the image requests and page scripts finish. A full-page screenshot does not necessarily reproduce the sequence of viewport changes that a person scrolling down the page would create. Scroll through the page in steps, let it respond, and capture after the missing content has loaded.
Why lazy-loaded images are missing
Lazy loading delays an image until it is near the visible part of the page. A site may use the browser’s native lazy-loading behavior, an IntersectionObserver, or JavaScript that reacts to scrolling or visibility. Until the trigger occurs, an image may remain a placeholder or its real image request may not have started.
A full-page screenshot and real scrolling are not always equivalent. A capture system can produce an image of the whole document without moving through it in viewport-sized increments. If the site depends on those movements to load content, the screenshot may preserve blank or placeholder areas. The exact internal sequence PageCrawl uses for a particular capture is not established by its public product information, so this is a general explanation—not a diagnosis of PageCrawl’s implementation.

Google Search Central describes the expected behavior for crawlable content: “To ensure that Google sees all content on your page, make sure that your lazy-loading implementation loads all relevant content whenever it is visible in the viewport.” See Fix lazy-loaded content.

How to fix a PageCrawl capture
- Reproduce the problem. Capture the affected URL and note which images or sections are absent. Check whether they are below the initial viewport; that is a useful clue that deferred loading may be involved.
- Scroll through the page in viewport-sized steps. Move down, pause so the page can react, and repeat through the sections with missing images. A single full-page capture may not trigger the same visibility events as incremental scrolling.
- Wait for the content to settle. Give the image requests and page scripts time to finish after scrolling. A fixed delay can help, but waiting for a specific visible element—or for the relevant images to complete, when the capture workflow permits it—is more reliable than guessing a delay.
- Capture again and compare. If the images now appear, the issue was likely that the loading trigger or time to render was missing from the original capture sequence. If they remain absent, check whether the site requires another action, such as clicking a control, before it loads that content.
- Check PageCrawl’s current controls for your account and page. Its public product information describes a JavaScript-enabled browser, browser actions such as waiting for text or clicking, and full-page screenshots. It does not document a dedicated “scroll before screenshot” or “wait for lazy images” switch. Do not assume a setting with either name exists; check current controls or ask PageCrawl support about the specific page.
What site owners should check
If you control the website, make sure deferred images load when they become visible, and avoid lazy-loading content expected in the initial viewport. Test the page as rendered, not just its source HTML. Google recommends checking that the image or video URL appears in the rendered HTML’s src attribute. Its guidance is at Google Search Central: Fix lazy-loaded content.
When the image does not load even after it enters view, investigate the page’s lazy-loading script and any visibility or scroll events it depends on. A capture workflow can trigger normal page behavior, but it cannot reliably compensate for a site implementation that fails to load the content when visible.

Choose the right capture approach
- Static full-page capture: convenient for long pages, but may not trigger each viewport-dependent loading event.
- Incremental scrolling: more closely reproduces a visitor moving through the page and can trigger lazy loading. It still needs enough time for requests and rendering.
- Fixed wait: easy to try, but can be too short for a slow page and unnecessarily long for a fast one.
- Page-specific readiness condition: waiting for a known element or image is usually more precise when the capture tool supports it.
- Site-owner correction: best when content fails to load on ordinary scrolling or initially visible content is deferred incorrectly.

ScreenshotNeo is a website screenshot API and MCP server. Its one-request capture can return a screenshot or PDF, and its options include full-page capture with lazy images loaded, waits, and page actions. For example, this cURL request captures a full page:

ScreenshotNeo API documentation
curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -d full_page=true -o shot.webp
ScreenshotNeo accepts cookie or consent banners before capture and removes 60+ known consent platforms, newsletter popups, and chat widgets; those steps can be turned off. Bot checks, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits cost nothing, and response headers report the page verdict and billing status. Its MCP server provides take_screenshot, get_page_info, and capture_pdf tools for Claude, Cursor, and other MCP clients. The free plan includes 1,000 screenshots a month with no card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000. Sign up for 1,000 free screenshots a month—no card required.
Common problems and fixes
- Only images below the fold are missing: scroll through the page in steps and pause after each movement to trigger visibility-based loading.
- Images appear after scrolling but not in the screenshot: allow more time for image requests and rendering, or use a page-specific readiness condition if available.
- A longer fixed wait makes no difference: the site may require a scroll or another interaction, rather than time alone. Trigger the required action and check the relevant section again.
- Images still fail after scrolling: inspect the site’s rendered page and implementation. If the image URL never appears in the rendered element’s
srcattribute, the page owner may need to fix the lazy-loading behavior. - You cannot find a lazy-image setting in PageCrawl: its public information does not establish a dedicated control by that name. Check the current account interface or ask support instead of relying on an undocumented setting.
Performance and reliability considerations
Scrolling and waiting can improve completeness, but both add time to a capture. A fixed delay is simple yet unpredictable across pages and network conditions; waiting for a page-specific signal is more targeted. There is no universal delay that guarantees every site’s deferred images have loaded. For repeat captures, use the shortest wait that consistently follows the page’s actual loading behavior, and verify the resulting image rather than assuming that a full-page output contains every deferred asset.
