It is a credible option—not a universal winner on speed, cost, hiring, or productivity.
When Java is a sensible backend choice
Java is worth considering when a project benefits from the libraries and frameworks around it, or when the team wants a supported path for building and deploying a production service. The case is strongest when the deployment environment, team skills, and maintenance plan fit the chosen Java distribution and framework versions.
That is a case for fit, not a claim that Java is inherently faster, cheaper, or more productive than Go, C#, Python, or JavaScript/TypeScript. Those outcomes depend on the workload, implementation, operating environment, and team.
What Spring Boot brings to a backend project
Spring describes Spring Boot as a way to build stand-alone, production-grade Spring applications. Its documented deployment options include running an application with java -jar or packaging it as a traditional WAR. The project also identifies features commonly needed in backend services: embedded servers, security, metrics, health checks, and externalized configuration. See the Spring Boot project overview.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
These features can give a team a framework-level starting point for common production needs. They do not, by themselves, establish that development will be faster or that a particular service will meet its latency, throughput, or cost targets.
Check Java and Spring Boot compatibility before choosing a version
The Spring Boot system requirements currently list version 4.1.1 as stable. For that specific release, the documented baseline is Java 17 or later, with Java versions through 26 supported. Spring Boot 4.1.1 also supports conversion to a GraalVM native image when using GraalVM 25 or later. These are version-specific compatibility statements; check the Spring Boot system requirements for the exact line you plan to start or maintain.

Please note that this hub is compatible with MacBook (macOS 12 and newer), Windows 10 and 11, ChromeOS, and laptops equipped with DP Alt Mode and Power Delivery. Note: This device is not compatible with Linux.
- What You Get: Anker USB-C Hub (5-in-1, 4K HDMI), welcome guide, 18-month warranty, and our friendly customer service.
Compatibility alone is not a reason to upgrade an existing service. An upgrade decision also needs to account for application dependencies, deployment constraints, and the support status of the versions the project actually uses.
Plan for JDK support, framework maintenance, and licensing
JDK release and vendor terms
Java support and licensing depend on the JDK distribution, version, and permitted use. Oracle’s Java SE roadmap says it intends to issue future LTS releases every two years and lists Java 29 as planned for September 2027. It also says Oracle’s planned terms for Java 21 updates change after September 2026. These roadmap statements are Oracle-specific, not a rule for every Java vendor. Check the current terms for the JDK and deployment you select in the Oracle Java SE support roadmap.

- Sleek 7-in-1 USB-C Hub: Features an HDMI port, two USB-A 3.0 ports, and a USB-C data port, each providing 5Gbps transfer speeds. It also includes a USB-C PD input port for charging up to 100W and dual SD and TF card slots, all in a compact design.
- Flawless 4K@60Hz Video with HDMI: Delivers exceptional clarity and smoothness with its 4K@60Hz HDMI port, making it ideal for high-definition presentations and entertainment. (Note: Only the HDMI port supports video projection; the USB-C port is for data transfer only.)
- Double Up on Efficiency: The two USB-A 3.0 ports and a USB-C port support a fast 5Gbps data rate, significantly boosting your transfer speeds and improving productivity.
- Fast and Reliable 85W Charging: Offers high-capacity, speedy charging for laptops up to 85W, so you spend less time tethered to an outlet and more time being productive.
- What You Get: Anker USB-C Hub (7-in-1), welcome guide, 18-month warranty, and our friendly customer service.
Microsoft Learn describes Java 25 as an LTS release and presents it as a natural target for teams using Java 8, 11, 17, or 21 in Microsoft Java workloads. That is guidance for those workloads, not a requirement to move every application immediately. See Microsoft’s Java on Azure overview.
Spring Boot release support
Spring Boot’s published policy says major versions receive support for at least three years and minor versions for at least twelve months, provided users remain on a supported minor version. Its release model describes major or minor releases roughly every six months. Check the Spring Boot supported versions policy and the lifecycles of third-party dependencies when setting a maintenance schedule.

What adoption data can—and cannot—tell you
In the Eclipse Foundation’s 2023 Jakarta EE developer survey, Spring/Spring Boot led the cloud-native Java framework category at 66%. That figure describes respondents to that survey; it is not a measurement of all Java developers or backend projects, and it does not establish 2026 market share or job availability. Read it in the scope given by the Eclipse Foundation’s 2023 Jakarta EE developer survey report.
A reader may ask, “Is Java still strong in the market for freshers?” A public developer discussion shows that concern, but a discussion question is not representative evidence of hiring demand. The available evidence here does not settle regional job prospects.

How to compare Java with other backend languages
Make the comparison against a representative application and the conditions in which it will run, rather than relying on a general language ranking. Evaluate:
- Performance: Measure latency and throughput under representative load.
- Operating cost: Compare memory and compute use in the intended deployment environment.
- Deployment constraints: Account for startup time, packaging, runtime requirements, and any limits imposed by the hosting target.
- Ecosystem needs: Check whether the required frameworks, libraries, integrations, and operational features are available and suitable.
- Team fit: Consider current skills, learning needs, and the capacity to maintain the application.
- Local hiring: Use current regional evidence rather than inferring job prospects from a framework survey or public discussion.
No directly comparable performance, cost, productivity, or 2026 regional hiring dataset is established here. Without project-specific measurements and local evidence, a universal claim that Java is better—or worse—than Go, C#, Python, or JavaScript/TypeScript would go beyond what is known.
