If you’re looking for Celebi in a FireRed or LeafGreen save file, the currently documented reward is not delivered there: it is a gift in the mobile version of Pokémon HOME for completing the Pokédex in either game. Pokémon’s announcement says the game’s registered Pokédex data can be registered in HOME after connecting the game, without transferring the Pokémon themselves. It does not describe a Celebi gift sent back into the game. Read Pokémon’s announcement.
Where the documented Celebi reward appears
The reward described by The Pokémon Company is in the mobile Pokémon HOME app, under Mystery Gifts. Its eligibility condition is completing the Pokédex in Pokémon FireRed Version or Pokémon LeafGreen Version. It is not described as an item or Pokémon that appears in the game’s own Mystery Gift menu or save file.
The announcement says Pokémon registered in the FireRed or LeafGreen Pokédex can be registered in HOME once HOME is connected. It also says the Pokémon do not need to be transferred into HOME for this Pokédex registration. That distinction matters: the game Pokédex data supports eligibility, but the reward’s destination is HOME.

What to check if the HOME gift is missing
- Confirm which Pokédex you completed. The stated requirement is completing the Pokédex in FireRed or LeafGreen. Check the relevant game’s Pokédex rather than assuming that progress in another Pokémon game qualifies.
- Connect the game with Pokémon HOME. Pokémon’s announcement identifies this connection as the step that allows registered game Pokédex data to be registered in HOME. It does not require transferring the Pokémon themselves.
- Open the mobile version of Pokémon HOME and check Mystery Gifts. The announced reward is a mobile HOME gift, so checking only the FireRed or LeafGreen game menu will not find it.
The announcement establishes the reward’s eligibility and destination, but does not publish detailed account, region, or synchronization troubleshooting steps. If the requirement appears met and the reward is still absent, the official information cited here does not identify a guaranteed sync action or other specific fix.

HOME transfer support does not mean the gift goes back into the game
Nintendo’s FireRed and LeafGreen FAQ says Pokémon can be transferred from the Switch versions of those games to Pokémon HOME. That is a transfer from the games to HOME; it does not establish a reverse delivery path for Celebi into a FireRed or LeafGreen save.
Nintendo also says the Switch releases broadly retain the original games’ content and use built-in local wireless for connectivity features that previously used Game Boy Advance link hardware. That connectivity information does not change where the documented HOME reward is received.

Is there a separate Celebi gift in FireRed or LeafGreen?
The official Pokémon announcement covered here confirms the HOME Pokédex-completion reward. It does not substantiate a currently active, separate Celebi distribution delivered directly into a FireRed or LeafGreen save. That means the HOME offer should not be treated as proof that an in-game event exists—or as proof that no such distribution could exist through some other event.
Pokémon’s general Mystery Gift support article gives instructions for other game families, including 3DS games, but does not provide a FireRed or LeafGreen Celebi procedure. Its menu instructions should not be used as though they applied to a current FRLG Celebi event.

Notes for Switch players
Nintendo says the Switch versions are digital software and will not receive physical releases. Their connectivity features use built-in local wireless rather than requiring an original Game Boy Advance Wireless Adapter. Neither a physical adapter nor HOME transfer support is identified as a fix for a missing mobile HOME reward.
