If a Gurbani YouTube live stream has a picture but no sound, first check whether the silence is only on your device or affects the stream itself. Unmute and raise the YouTube player volume, check your device’s sound output, and play another YouTube video. If other videos have sound but this stream is silent on more than one device, the broadcaster may need to check the audio feed.
First, find out where the sound is failing
Silence can come from the YouTube player, browser or app, device settings, selected audio output, or the broadcast. Comparing videos, devices, and viewers helps narrow down the fault, but does not prove its exact cause.
- Only this stream is silent: play another YouTube video on the same device. If it has sound, check the stream on another supported device if available.
- All YouTube videos are silent: check the app or browser, device volume, and sound output.
- The stream is silent on multiple devices while other videos work: tell the channel operator. That pattern points toward a stream-side issue, but does not identify its cause.
If you are watching the stream
- Check the YouTube player. Make sure it is not muted and raise its volume.
- Check the device and app or browser. Raise the device’s output volume, confirm the YouTube app or browser is not muted, and select the intended output—such as built-in speakers or connected headphones.
- Compare with other audio. Play another YouTube video, then try audio from another app or source. If all are silent, focus on the device’s sound settings or output. If only the Gurbani stream is silent, continue testing rather than assuming your device is at fault.
- Reopen YouTube. Refresh the page or close and reopen the app. If the problem persists, restart the browser or device.
- Try another supported device. If the same stream remains silent there while other videos play normally, report the issue to the channel.
YouTube’s guidance recommends checking browser or device volume and sound settings, and restarting the browser or device. Its streaming troubleshooting also suggests reopening or updating the app or browser and trying another supported device when playback problems persist: YouTube’s no-sound troubleshooting and streaming and video troubleshooting for computers.

If you operate the Gurbani livestream
Check the audio from the source toward YouTube. The key comparison is whether the encoder preview or local recording has sound, and whether the published stream does.

- Listen to the encoder preview while live. If it is silent, inspect the audio source feeding the encoder. Confirm the intended input is selected, active, not muted, and routed to the broadcast.
- Check the encoder’s audio configuration. Verify that the broadcast is configured to include the intended audio source or track. A specialist worship-streaming support article also identifies source selection and track configuration as possible causes; these are checks, not a diagnosis of a particular stream: WorshipMetrics’ no-audio guidance.
- Check YouTube Live Control Room health information. YouTube’s developer documentation describes audio configuration issues, including a state indicating that the incoming stream has no audio stream: LiveStream configuration issues.
- Compare the preview or local archive with the published stream. If the encoder output is also silent, investigate the source and routing. If it sounds healthy but the YouTube stream does not, check stream health and the outbound connection. YouTube’s live-stream troubleshooting covers these checks: Troubleshoot your YouTube live stream.
- Contact the software provider if applicable. YouTube advises contacting the support team for third-party streaming software when it is used without a stream key.
If multiple viewers on different connections report silence, prioritize broadcast-side checks. That is a useful operational inference, not proof of a particular failure.
What to send the channel operator
If you are a viewer and the checks suggest the problem is stream-side, send the channel the stream URL and the approximate time you heard the silence. Mention whether other YouTube videos had sound and whether you tested another device. Those details help the operator distinguish a single-device playback problem from a potentially broader broadcast issue.
