If your Samsung subwoofer seems too quiet, first check the content you’re playing and the subwoofer-level setting. If bass cuts in and out or disappears altogether, check the wireless link, placement and power instead. These symptoms can have different causes, and the correct controls and reconnection steps depend on your soundbar model.
First, check whether the content should produce much bass
Samsung notes that “the original volume of the content you are playing may be low.” Some music, programmes and scenes contain little low-frequency sound, so they will not make the subwoofer very noticeable. Raise the soundbar and connected device volume if the entire system is quiet, then test with a bass-rich music passage or movie scene at a moderate volume. Samsung Australia’s troubleshooting guidance lists low source volume as one possible cause.
Dialogue is not a reliable test by itself. A subwoofer is intended to reproduce low frequencies, not ordinary speech. In a model-specific article for the HW-H550 and HW-H551, Samsung South Africa describes it as responsible for low-frequency sounds, such as the rumble of an explosion. The principle applies to evaluating bass, but that article’s model-specific controls should not be assumed to match other soundbars.

Raise the subwoofer level with the right control
If the soundbar and source are otherwise loud enough but bass lacks impact, check the subwoofer level. Use the woofer or subwoofer-level control on your soundbar remote, if your model has one, and increase it a little at a time while replaying the same bass-rich passage.

Samsung’s instructions use different labels and adjustment ranges on different models. Examples include a WOOFER control, an S/W LEVEL setting, adjustments from -6 to +6, and SW+1 through SW+6. These are examples, not universal settings. Follow the instructions for your exact soundbar rather than looking for a button or range that may not exist. Samsung’s support guidance also advises checking the model manual when the controls do not match.
Check the wireless link, distance and placement
If output is intermittent or absent, or the subwoofer seems to drop out, check its connection to the soundbar as well as its level. Look at the indicator on the subwoofer: Samsung’s Singapore guidance identifies a solid blue LINK light as connected and recommends reconnecting when the light blinks blue or is solid red. Indicator meanings can vary by model, so confirm them in the manual for your system.

- Move the subwoofer closer to the soundbar and test again. Samsung Australia suggests trying a position within 3 metres when the signal may be weak. Treat that as a troubleshooting distance, not a permanent placement requirement.
- Remove objects obstructing the space between the soundbar and subwoofer.
- Move nearby devices that could cause radio interference, then check whether the link and bass improve.
- If the connection remains abnormal, use the model’s manual to reconnect the subwoofer.
Samsung’s Singapore troubleshooting guidance covers checking the LINK indicator and reconnecting. The exact pairing procedure depends on the soundbar and subwoofer.

Check power and reset only with model-specific instructions
If there is no sound from the subwoofer, check that its power and relevant connections are secure. Samsung’s guidance also suggests removing and reconnecting power. If you consider initialization or a reset, use the procedure for your exact soundbar: button combinations and reset steps are not universal, and instructions for another model may not apply.

What to do if the sound is still too quiet
If the problem persists after testing suitable content, adjusting the level, checking placement and reconnecting, contact Samsung support with your soundbar model and the subwoofer’s indicator state. Persistent low output or an abnormal indicator may need model-specific diagnosis; the available guidance does not establish a universal failure threshold or show that a particular unit must be replaced.

Consider another subwoofer only after checking whether the issue is a setting or connection problem and confirming compatibility with your exact soundbar. Samsung sells the SWA-W510 as a wireless subwoofer, but its product page does not establish compatibility with every Samsung soundbar. Check your soundbar’s manual or Samsung support before buying; there is no universal compatibility list or price established here.
