Usually, a Browse AI robot cannot find an element because the page it sees no longer matches the page or interaction it was trained on—or because the element has not appeared yet. Check the failed task’s error and debug video first, then match the fix to the cause: retrain after a site change, refresh session cookies for login problems, or record the clicks and waiting time needed for dynamic content.
Start with the failed task’s evidence
- Open the failed task details. Read the plain-language
userFriendlyErrorvalue, if shown, and watch the debug video when one is available. The video can reveal whether the robot reached the expected page, encountered a notice, or acted before the target appeared. - Check the inputs. Confirm the task’s URL and parameters are correct. Open the same page in a regular browser and see whether it loads normally.
- Identify what changed. Compare the current page with the one the robot was trained on: layout, labels, controls, login state, notices, and loading behavior can all affect whether the recorded steps still work.
Browse AI lists slow or unavailable sites, expired credentials, changed site structure, and network problems among common causes. Without the failed-task details and the robot’s configuration, the error alone may not identify which one applies. See Browse AI Help Center for its troubleshooting guidance.
Fix the problem that matches the symptom
The page or element structure changed
A website update can change its layout, class names, or HTML structure, making a previously recorded robot incompatible. Browse AI’s stated primary remedy is retraining the custom robot. From the robot’s detail page, open Settings, retrain it, and run a test task before relying on it again.
If retraining gets stuck in Robot Studio, retry; if it still does not work, use the Browse AI Chrome Extension as an alternative training route. Browse AI says to contact support if the robot still fails after retraining or if you are unsure how to make the training more resilient. Its May 28, 2025 Help Center guidance also suggests contacting support when retraining is needed more than once a month.

The robot is supposed to access a logged-in page
An expired login session can prevent the robot from reaching the expected content. Refresh the robot’s session cookies from its Settings tab, then run a test task to verify that it can access the protected page.
A cookie or consent notice interrupts the page
A recorded click that dismisses a banner may be unreliable: the notice’s design or position can vary by location or A/B test. If it does not cover the data you need, train the robot without interacting with it, so the extraction does not depend on a variable dismissal click.
If the page requires an account, use the logged-in browser session-cookie flow described in Browse AI’s cookie guidance. If the notice continues to block the target data, contact Browse AI support.
The target appears only after an interaction
If content is revealed by a button, dropdown, or other control, include the required interaction in the Robot Studio training, wait for the page to update, and then capture the revealed data. For a dropdown that no longer opens, retrain with deliberate clicks and check whether the site requires clicking a particular part of the control.
The page loads content dynamically or slowly
JavaScript-driven pages may add the target after the initial page load. Allow enough time for content to appear, including sequential loading after interactions. If the element still does not show up, check that the page works in a regular browser and consider whether the site offers a non-JavaScript page or an API that exposes the data.

When to escalate
Contact Browse AI support when the robot continues to fail after a retraining and test, a cookie notice still blocks extraction, or you cannot make the training resilient to page variation. Frequent retraining—more than once a month—is also a reason Browse AI gives to seek help. Include the failed task details and debug video, if available, along with the URL and the steps you have already tried.

If the underlying job is to capture a webpage rather than train a robot to extract data from it, ScreenshotNeo is a website screenshot API and MCP server for developers. A single GET request can return a PNG, JPEG, WebP, or PDF; the options and response details are in the ScreenshotNeo documentation.

One-click scans. No signup required.
curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -o shot.webp
ScreenshotNeo accepts cookie and consent banners before capture and removes 60+ known consent platforms, newsletter popups, and chat widgets; each cleanup step can be turned off. Bot checks, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits cost nothing, and the response indicates the page verdict and billing status. Its MCP server lets AI agents use take_screenshot, get_page_info, and capture_pdf. The Free plan includes 1,000 shots a month with no card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000 shots.
