The launcher behind that familiar “I tried dozens” refrain is Niagara Launcher. Its defining choice is to replace the usual home-screen icon grid with a short favorites list and an alphabetical route to the rest of your apps. That makes it a better fit for people who want a focused home screen than for those who rely on a densely customized grid.
What makes Niagara Launcher different?
Niagara organizes the home screen as a list rather than a wall of icons. A September 13, 2026 article by Synapse Flow describes up to eight favorite apps on the home screen, with an A-to-Z index for finding the rest. The article is a secondary account, and its page could not be fetched directly, so treat its feature descriptions as reported rather than independently verified specifications. Source: Synapse Flow
The layout changes the basic interaction: instead of scanning rows and columns, you keep a handful of frequent apps visible and use the alphabetical index to reach less-used ones. The article also reports search and usage-based sorting as ways to locate apps.
What the reported features add to everyday use
The same account describes features that bring useful information and controls into the streamlined layout:

- Please note, this device does not support E-SIM; This 4G model is compatible with all GSM networks worldwide outside of the U.S. In the US, ONLY compatible with T-Mobile and their MVNO's (Metro and Standup). It will NOT work with other CDMA carriers, and it is also not compatible with their MVNO (Visible, Xfinity Mobile, US Mobile, Cricket Wireless, etc).
- Compatibility with certain third-party devices and accessibility accessories, including some hearing aids, may vary depending on manufacturer support, Bluetooth protocols, software compatibility, and regional firmware limitations. For additional hearing aid compatibility information, please refer to Samsung’s official support documentation.
- Camera: 50 MP, f/1.8, (wide), 1/2.76", 0.64µm, AF | 50 MP, f/1.8, (wide), 1/2.76", 0.64µm, AF | 2 MP, f/2.4, (macro). Battery: 5000 mAh, non-removable | A power adapter is NOT included.
- At-a-glance context: notifications and media controls can appear on the home screen; notification replies and a summary option are also reported.
- Quick actions: swipe shortcuts, gestures, and a Niagara Button are described as ways to open apps or actions without returning to a conventional grid.
- Fewer distractions: app time limits and app hiding are among the reported options.
- Organization and recovery: folders and backup-and-restore are described, alongside widget support.
These are claims from the cited article, not confirmed here against official product documentation. In particular, do not assume every option is available in the same way across versions or tiers.
Who is likely to prefer a list-based launcher?
Niagara’s central tradeoff is visible before you install it: a curated list can reduce home-screen clutter, but it is not a conventional icon grid. It may suit you if you usually open a small set of apps and want a direct index for everything else. If your home screen depends on many visible icons, carefully arranged pages, or extensive layout control, the list-first approach may feel restrictive.

Consider your routine before switching:
- Choose a list-first layout if you value a compact favorites area and alphabetical app access.
- Look closely at widget support and customization if your current setup depends on widgets, themes, icon packs, or grid controls.
- Try the core layout with your most-used apps before rebuilding your whole setup; the key question is whether list-based access feels natural in daily use.
What to know about Niagara Pro
The cited article reports that Niagara Pro adds a widget carousel, widgets in pop-up menus, themes, and further customization. It gives conflicting price information, so it does not establish current pricing or a reliable price for comparison. Check Niagara’s current official listing for the price and exact feature entitlements before deciding whether to pay; those details are not confirmed by the cited account.
What the available account does not establish
The article does not provide evidence for objective speed, battery-life, stability, or cross-device performance advantages. Its description is useful for understanding Niagara’s reported design and features, but it is not a comparative test or official specification. The practical decision is whether you prefer a focused favorites list and index over the grid-based organization you may already use.
