If Siri AI is missing, your iPhone may not meet Apple’s beta requirements. Apple’s September 2026 guidance requires iOS 27 or later, an eligible model, and English for both the iPhone’s device language and Siri language. Availability is also restricted in some regions. Check those conditions first; ordinary Siri working does not mean your iPhone supports Siri AI.
First, distinguish Siri AI from regular Siri
“Siri AI” refers to Apple’s new beta assistant, which adds conversational capabilities, personal-context understanding, onscreen awareness, and broader world knowledge. It is separate from the standard Siri feature. Apple’s current iPhone requirements and feature description are in its Siri AI requirements and iOS 27 guide.
Apple says Siri availability, features, and commands vary by language and country or region. That means a working Siri—or access to another Apple Intelligence feature—does not establish that Siri AI is available on your device.
Check whether your iPhone qualifies
1. Confirm the exact iPhone model
Apple lists iPhone 15 Pro models, iPhone 16 models or later, and iPhone Air for Siri AI beta on iPhone. The requirement does not cover every iPhone 15: the listed 15-series models are the iPhone 15 Pro models. If your phone is outside these families, changing settings will not make it eligible.

2. Install iOS 27 or later
Siri AI beta requires iOS 27 or later. Open Settings > General > Software Update and install the latest compatible update offered for your iPhone. Then check Siri AI availability again.
3. Set both language options to English
Under Apple’s current published requirements, both the iPhone’s device language and Siri language must be English. Check Settings > General > Language & Region for the device language, and Settings > Siri (or Apple Intelligence & Siri, if that is the label shown) for Siri’s language. Apple’s broader language support for other Apple Intelligence features does not mean Siri AI beta supports those same languages.

4. Check your location and Apple Account region
Apple says Siri AI is unavailable on iOS in the European Union. Apple also states that it will not work in China mainland when the Apple Account region is mainland China. Availability rules are specific to the feature; do not assume that changing the iPhone’s language or a single region setting overrides them.
If your iPhone qualifies but Siri is missing or unresponsive
Once the model, software, language, and regional conditions are satisfied, troubleshoot regular Siri setup and connectivity separately. Apple’s troubleshooting guidance recommends checking that the iPhone has internet access and that Siri or “Hey Siri” is enabled.

- Check Siri activation: Open Settings > Siri (or Apple Intelligence & Siri) and make sure Siri is enabled. Check the option to activate Siri by voice or with the side button.
- Repeat voice setup: If you use voice activation, turn it off and set it up again by following the prompts in Siri settings.
- Try another way to invoke Siri: Test the side button or Type to Siri, where available. If one method works and another does not, the problem may be with that activation method rather than Siri AI eligibility.
- Check the connection and update: Confirm internet access and install any available iOS update compatible with your iPhone.
- If Siri is missing from Settings: Restart the iPhone. If the setting still does not appear, Apple recommends checking VPN settings; some VPN profiles may prevent Siri from being available.
What to do if your model is unsupported
If your iPhone is not among Apple’s listed models, the beta is not enabled by a setting, repair, or accessory. Consider an upgrade only if access to Siri AI is important to you. Apple lists iPhone 15 Pro models, iPhone 16 models or later, and iPhone Air, so an iPhone 16 is one qualifying example—not the only option. If your current iPhone is eligible, check its update, language, and region before considering a replacement.
