A Roku-related charge is often a subscription renewal or a free trial that became paid. To identify it, sign in at my.roku.com and check Purchase history and invoices, then review active subscriptions. If Roku manages the subscription, turn off auto-renew in your Roku account or on your device. Some subscriptions—including Disney+, Hulu, and Sling TV—must be managed with the provider even when Roku bills the payment.

Identify the charge in your Roku account

  1. Sign in at my.roku.com with the Roku account you use for the device.
  2. Open Purchase history and invoices and compare the invoice details with the date and description on your card or bank statement.
  3. Review Subscriptions to see active subscriptions and whether one is due to renew.

Roku charges may appear on a statement as “Roku,” “Roku for ___,” or “The Roku Channel.” A descriptor can name a parent company rather than the streaming service you recognize. Roku’s support article lists examples such as “Roku for CBS Interactive” for Paramount+, “Roku for Warner Media Global Digital Services LLC” for HBO Max, “Roku for AMC Networks” for Shudder, and “Roku for Starz” for Starz. These are examples, not a complete or permanent list.

The Roku Channel is free to access, but paid subscriptions purchased through it—such as AMC+—can create recurring charges listed as “The Roku Channel.” Seeing that descriptor does not by itself mean you are being charged for access to the free channel.

Find out who can cancel the subscription

The company that processes a payment is not always the company that manages the subscription. Use the purchase route—not the Roku device or app alone—to decide where to cancel.

Turn off auto-renew for a Roku-managed subscription

From a web browser

  1. Go to my.roku.com/subscriptions and sign in.
  2. Under Active subscriptions, select the subscription you want to stop.
  3. Choose Manage subscription, then Turn off auto-renew.
  4. If Roku asks for your purchase PIN, enter it to confirm.

From a Roku device

  1. Press Home on the remote and highlight the app for the subscription.
  2. Press the Star button and choose Manage subscription.
  3. Select Turn off auto-renew and confirm if prompted.

Roku says the subscription remains available through the end of the current billing period after auto-renew is turned off. A free trial must be cancelled before it ends to avoid the recurring charge.

Contact the provider for subscriptions it manages

Roku’s support guidance says Disney+, Hulu, and Sling TV subscriptions must be managed with the provider, even if Roku appears as the biller. Its US support article lists these phone numbers: Disney+ at 888-905-7888, Hulu at 877-824-4858, and Sling TV at 888-394-6698. Contact information can change, so confirm the current number through the provider’s official support site before calling.

Disney+ or Hulu may ask for the CIB (Customer Identifier for Billing) shown on your Roku invoice. Roku’s purchase-history article, last updated September 14, 2026, says the CIB appears on invoices dated September 4, 2026 or later. If a subscription was bought directly from another streaming service, contact that service; it will not appear in Roku purchase history.

If you still cannot match the charge

  • Check other Roku accounts: A subscription may be associated with a different email address or Roku account. On the device, find its linked email under Settings > System > About.
  • Ask household members: Someone else may have made the purchase using a device or account in the household.
  • Compare the statement descriptor: If the charge is absent from the Roku account history and the statement does not identify Roku as the biller, Roku says the subscription was purchased directly through the streaming provider. Contact the provider shown on the statement.
  • Ask Roku about a Roku billing issue: Use Roku’s billing support pages if the charge appears to be from Roku but you cannot identify or resolve it.

Roku Support states, in its article “If there’s a charge you don’t recognize on your Roku account,” last updated August 14, 2026: “Roku never charges for Roku accounts or for customer support services.” That statement concerns Roku’s own charges; it does not determine whether a particular third-party charge is fraudulent.

What a $1 card entry may mean

Roku says a $1 card entry may be a temporary hold used to verify a payment method, rather than a completed charge, and says it will be refunded. Check the timing and account activity before treating the entry as a subscription. If it remains or you cannot match it to a payment verification, contact the relevant billing support service.
